Queen Without Crown
Chapter 139 The Attack In The Midnight

Eldrige heard that the house of Tabib Bagio had been sold from an employee of the new owner of the house. But unfortunately no one can give information about the existence of Tabib Bagio now.

When Eldrige was already on the back of his horse, he saw in front there some soldiers came to the house that used to belong to the palace healer.

Eldrige drove his horse slowly until the turn. After that he tethered his horse in one of the twigs growing in front of a luxurious house that looked lonely. With a quick move the man returned to the former house of Tabib Bagio earlier.

Seeking not to flashy Eldrige observed the soldiers talking to the owner of the house and some of his employees. From what he had heard they were asking the whereabouts of the physician.

"There was a train driver who came a while ago applying for a job here. He said that he used to be worn by Tabib Bagio. "

"What's her name? " Ask one of the soldiers.

"If it is not wrongly called Kardi. " Reply the homeowner after a while of thought.

"Where does he live? "

"I don't know. " The owner of the house then turned to his employees, but none of them opened their voices.

"alright. If there is any other information please come to see me. Physician Bagio is a dangerous man and is now a fugitive of the kingdom. If you deliberately cover up something related to it then you are getting ready to receive punishment. " The big tall soldier grinned.

Eldrige walked back to his horse as the soldiers left. Now he began to get one more bright spot to find Princess Juwita. This time he had to find the coachman before the soldiers.

King Gaurav returns to Watu Ijo without his daughter. Princess Devi heads straight to Lucshire to meet Queen Malea.

Cheers greeted the arrival of King Gaurav and his army.

"Your Majesty, did we hear that Princess Devi is leading the Royal League to crush the Daemonies? " The Chairman of the Royal Council welcomed King Gaurav with a question.

"true." Answer King Gaurav.

"It seems, we can rethink again about the heir to the throne. Given the glorious achievements of Princess Devi, perhaps we can put aside the hereditary tradition of a woman being the ruler of a kingdom." Her speech.

"Wouldn't it be that you yourself who harshestly wanted a son as heir to the throne? " Ask King Gaurav.

"I'm sorry, Your Majesty. I think my observations at the time were wrong. " The somewhat bald-headed man looked down.

"I'll consider this advice. I don't want to hurt my daughter by giving her hope that can't be realized. " King Gaurav then walked away from them to meet his wife.

In her room, Queen Elok was lying down. His face looks a bit pale.

"Are you sick, honey? I'm worried because you didn't welcome me. " King Gaurav approaches his wife.

"Did Devi not come home? " Task the purple-eyed beautiful woman.

"He must return to Lucshire." King Gaurav grasped his wife's hand and kissed her. " You'd be so proud to see it."

"I've heard it. Every day someone brings news that informs him of his hero story." Queen Elok smiled.

"I'm worried about you, honey. Your body is getting thinner, are you eating well? " King Gaurav stroked his wife's face.

"I have not calmed down since the death of Sagar and his wife. As if it always haunts me. I'm also worried about their two children, I'm afraid they're not being taken care of properly. " The clear thread coats the woman's eyes.

"I'm determined to uncover who Queen Akemi's killer really is. I can't let my poor niece get blamed for a heinous crime she didn't commit. " King Gaurav breathed a heavy sigh.

"What if we go to Alsatia to take the Latitude and the Wulan? " The woman's face was hopeful and caused tremors in her husband's chest.

"I'll try to bring the two kids here, but you won't have to come. I want you to recover your health immediately so you can take care of them. " King Gaurav could not bear to kiss his wife who looked so fragile. He wanted to bring back the carelessness of his wife like the early years of their marriage.

"I promise I will. My wish is to be reunited with you, with our son and those two." Queen Elok rested her head on her husband's chest.

"Your hope will be fulfilled, Your Majesty. " Said King Gaurav.

It turns out that finding Kardi, the coachman who used to be often used by Tabib Bagio is not as easy as Eldrige imagined. Kardi had already sold her horse carriage and moved out of her house.

A neighbor said the man went to his hometown in a village located outside the capital. Armed with only a village name, Eldrige continues his search.

By choosing the streets of the rats, the man walked out of the capital without meeting the guard soldiers. Now he was passing through a road flanked by pine forests to a village called Ogle.

When entering the village gate, the rain started to fall. Eldrige immediately spurred his horse to find shelter. In a corner he saw a shop whose roof chimney was billowing white smoke that was immediately swept away by the rain.

After tying his horse under a tree, Eldrige immediately stepped into the tavern. The aroma of cooking made the intestines in Eldrige's stomach rumble. He realized he had not eaten for a few days.

A man came asking for orders. After ordering some food and drinks, Eldrige sat quietly while looking at the rain from the window.

"Sir, you're not from this area?" The man who was apparently the owner of the shop asked Eldrige when he brought his order.

"really. I'm here to find someone." Eldrige.

"Gentleman looking for who? This small village has very few residents and we all know each other. " The man was eager to help Eldrige who in his eyes looked like a noble.

"Cardboard. He works as a coachman in the capital." Eldrige hoped the man would know the coachman.

"Cardboard? Hasn't he been home for a long time? " The man looks confused.

"I don't know yet, sir. But I'll tell you where the house is. His old mother lived there alone. " The man kindly told the direction of Kardi's house.

When Eldrige pays and intends to go to Kardi's house, the man looks at her anxiously.

"It's better tonight you stay here. This village is dangerous at night. " A look of fear was radiating in his eyes.

"Danger? Are there robbers? " Eldrige was astonished.

"No. There are wild beasts that roam around at night and kill the people who cross paths with them." The shop owner said.

"Isn't Kardi's house not too far away? " Eldrige is not afraid to meet a beast.

"But the sun is almost drowning, and it's still raining. I was worried that Master would get lost and instead meet the beast. "

Eldrige felt that the owner of the tavern was trying to prevent him from leaving. "Well, I'll stay here. "

"Thank God. You will not regret this decision. " The owner smiled with relief and went inside to prepare the room.

Once the room was ready, Eldrige was escorted there. The shopkeeper even took care of Eldrige's horse and ground it.

The room was small with a little furniture. There's only a couch for one person and a closet. Eldrige approached the only window there.

"What's? " Eldrige was surprised to learn that the window was glued.

Finally he threw himself on the couch covered in a thin mattress. It had been some time that he had not slept comfortably due to many thoughts.

After some time in silence, his eyes finally closed and he fell asleep. Eldrige slept soundly without dreaming, his body completely on the verge of his endurance.

Brak!

Eldrige woke up hearing a loud noise outside. It was still dark but unfortunately he could not look outside to find out what the sound was.

Eldrige again laid down his body that was still tired, he wanted to sleep again.

Brak! Graaa..

As Eldrige's eyes closed, a loud noise was heard again making Eldrige re-open his eyes.

"Something's wrong. "

Eldrige then stepped into the door and opened it slowly. The room in front of her was dark. Eldrige only saw a part of the room that was highlighted by a candlelight beam from his room.

As soon as Eldrige closed the door behind him, the place was completely pitch-black.

Eldrige stepped in the darkness. Even though his magic ability had dissipated, yet his pair of red eyes were still able to faintly see in the darkness.

Deg.

Eldrige's heart seemed to stop when he suddenly saw a pair of eyes shining in the darkness.

"Is this the savage beast the innkeeper is referring to? " Task Eldrige in heart.

His body was still motionless as he stared at those pair of eyes.

Graa..

Suddenly the body of the creature jumped and hit Eldrige. A pair of claws pressed down on both Eldrige's shoulders while the man lay on the floor. Now Eldrige's eyes are fixed with a pair of shining eyes in less than one inch.

*****

Bugh!

Eldrige's knees bent and smashed into the stomach of the creature that overcame him. The creature toppled over and released its grip.

Graaa..

The creature growled furiously and immediately got up and prepared to attack Eldrige again.

Bugh!

Eldrige struck the body of the creature which was now standing at his height parallel to it. When he hit earlier he could feel how hard the muscles of the creature were. And looking at his height, he suspected that his opponent might be a bear.

Graa..

Bugh! Bugh!

The fight both made the atmosphere become rowdy. The furniture in the room was destroyed.

Brak!

The creature hit the wall. Eldrige used it to keep pushing him. Several punches and kicks were lodged on the creature's body. Until finally, the creature collapsed motionless.

"God! " The shop owner sounded panicked. The man stood with a candle on a small plate.
