Although Quinn had lost 2/3 of his HP, he did not feel injured or dying. It was not like when he was under the sun when he felt weeks, on the contrary, it felt like all his senses were in a state of high alert.
“Hei Quinn, are you okay buddy?” Vorden asked seeing Quinn's face in surprise.
“Yeah, I just got to go somewhere,” Quinn said as she rushed out of the room, heading to the cafeteria.
Everything that happened so far was a miscalculation on Quinn's part. Although the system had told him that he would lose 1 hp every hour, he had not expected his body to react this way. Originally, he only planned to sleep for five hours because he was too tired after yesterday's fight.
That way, he still had at least ten hours and a few hours in the morning before class started. Quinn began to calculate how much time was left. Breakfast is a necessity that lasts from 8 to 9 hours, then classes last until 12 noon for lunch.
That means there are four more hours where he is required to be somewhere in school. Of course, there is always the option of skipping, but this is not like a regular school. The Army will punish you harshly and hunt you down if you do. But what difference does it make if he dies?
Quinn is currently in the canteen queue to be treated to food. He took a deep breath and went in and out slowly, it helped him to understand his increased consciousness. He could hear the conversation from the other side of the room.
Pans and pans clang in the kitchen as if they were beside him. Slowly Quinn thought about how to ignore all of this and it made his mind think more clearly.
But by then, Rylee had entered the canteen. He had no scars on his body from yesterday's fight as he had made a full recovery in the medical center but he was in a bad mood after what happened yesterday.
Once he saw Quinn, he had found the target to vent all of his pent-up frustrations. Rylee walked through all the floors in the queue until he finally reached where Quinn was standing.
“Hey trash , you got in trouble if I cut in front of you?” Ask Rylee.
But Quinn was too busy trying to focus the voice from her mind.
“Do you ignore me? Today is not the day to ignore me.” Rylee looked at Quinn's watch which saw the number 1 shining brightly on it. Bad memories of yesterday's fight had popped into his head and how all he wanted to do was kill that person but it had to wait now and Quinn had to do it.
“Said don't ignore me?” Rylee said as he grabbed Quinn's collar.
But at that moment, Rylee's face was very similar to Quinn's. Quinn could hear Rylee's heartbeat. He could feel the blood flowing through his arms and his muscles lifting his clothes.
Something had taken over Quinn's body and she immediately hit Rylee's arm and pounced on him causing the two of them to fall to the ground.
Quinn was now on top of Rylee and both of her hands were pressed.
“Let go of me, you crazy bastard!” Rylee said but when Rylee tried to defeat Quinn and raised her hand, it was impossible. Even his abilities were useless in this situation. His ability only hardened his skin, not making it stronger.
Then Quinn began to feel something growing in her mouth. Quinn laid her head just inches from Rylee's neck and was ready. However, the moment Quinn opened her mouth, she felt someone pull the back of her collar and throw it from Rylee towards the people in line.
“Do not touch one of my children,” says Dan.
And is a big man for his age with a muscular stature. He did not look like a teenage boy but more like a bald adult.
“Dan, thank you very much,” Rylee said as she stood up from the ground sweating. “You're dead now son.”
“Do you really want to cause trouble,” Vorden said as he raised his arm to show the power level on his watch.
Actually, Vorden was just bluffing. Vorden's strength depended heavily on what ability he copied and right now all he had was a level 1 ability like Peter. If they fought here, there was no competition about who would win.
But Vorden's plan seems to work when Dan decides to step back and take Rylee with him but before Rylee leaves, he gestures to Quinn imitating someone who beheaded her.
“Oh, thank you, thank you, I can't believe it worked,” said Peter for knowing the secret of Vorden.
After the canteen incident was over, something became clear to Quinn. It teaches not to intervene no matter what. In the cafeteria there were many guards standing in every corner of the room but not once did they intervene to help.
After the group finished eating, it was time for them to go to their morning classes but Quinn was unable to concentrate on anything, all he could do was try to calm himself down while in the middle of the classroom and watch his HP slowly dissipate.
It made him crazy to see that number go down hour after hour and now hope he just bit Rylee's neck yesterday.
Then when it came to lunch time, Quinn once again rushed away without Vorden and Peter this time to the library.
[1/15 HP]
“What happened to me?” Quinn said as her hands did not stop shaking.
Every time Quinn's HP dropped, it became harder and harder to control his own body and sooner or later he would go crazy. During class, he had plenty of eyesight to tear the place apart and pluck blood from their necks.
Unaware of where he was walking, Quinn ended up in the library. In a quiet corner of the library on one of the islands is the fictional part.
“Please ask for something I can use,” Quinn said as she pulled out a fantasy book after a fantasy book about Vampires.
In some books, Vampires can live off animal blood, but Quinn's system clearly states he needs human blood. Not only that but it would be difficult for him to find an animal in time. In another story, there is talk of going to the hospital and robbing their supplies but the hospital in the city is heavily guarded and he has no time for that.
Finally, for the first time, Quinn felt herself getting weaker. He sat on the floor and read one last book and found nothing useful. When he closed his book, he could see Layla standing before him.
“Are you okay?” Layla asks concerned for Quinn as she starts to look very pale.
Layla then leaned over so that she aligned with Quinn and placed her hand on her forehead to check her temperature.
“You're so cold? You want me to take you to the nurse's office?” Layla asked.
Quinn answered with one word.
“Sorry..”
She said as she pulled Layla's arm over her and bit Layla's neck.
