Chapter 54. Unilateral Decisions

The commotion about work is not over. Suddenly Abbey gets a job offer from her ex-boyfriend, Thanos. I don't know what the man is drafting for the Abbey?

Abbey put her phone back. His gaze focused on Rylee who was enjoying dinner. They kept each other quiet all day.

"Why did you put the phone back on?" asked Rylee who couldn't stand being quiet all day.

"There was a job offer from Thanos. I thought I'd take it."

For a moment Rylee was silent. It's very funny to let his wife work while pregnant.

"No. I thought it would be better if I left my new job and replaced yours. I mean Thanos' offer."

"So, you want to see Thanos tonight?"

"Of course" replied Rylee.

The night they meet again at the agreed restaurant with Thanos. This time the widower came alone without anyone's company.

"Finally, you came too!" Thanos.

"Oh, sorry, Thanos. I'm a little late" replied Abbey.

Rylee pulled out a chair for his wife to sit there. After that, he took a position right beside Thanos.

"So, what kind of job do you mean?" Abbey doesn't want to mince words anymore.

"This job helps us all a lot. Don't you know that Van's opening a job to find a private secretary again? That's why I offered it to Abbey."

Abbey was shocked to hear Thanos. He did not expect that his former lover would think so small.

"You're crazy, Thanos! Why am I back at Van's company, huh? You know that guy's a jerk?" Abbey inflamed.

"I want Van destroyed, Abbey! Don't you want to help me?"

"No, Thanos! I won't do anything because I don't want to be in touch with him anymore. Quite a misunderstanding in the past between me, Van, and Helen. The rest let it be each other's business."

Rylee fell silent. This conversation was supposed to take place between Thanos and Abbey. The rest of Rylee would record whatever information was necessary to get along with his wife's friends.

"So, you want the villain to live a happy life?" One question that made Abbey freeze.

"I don't have any relationship with him, Thanos. Even if you want to repay him, it's better if you do it yourself. Oh, or are you not willing to lose Anne?"

When the conversation was going on, on the other hand, in a house there was a couple sitting side by side watching television. Who else if not Van and Anne who became a newlywed couple.

"Van, your decision to open a secretarial vacancy is correct. You're gonna have to find a replacement for Abbey, right?"

"Who, Honey?" ask Rylee.

Rylee nodded. Abbey immediately moved away from the two men. Of course, the noise in the restaurant is caused by several guest conversations, the clang of knives and forks clashing, and the noise of the waiter trolley when delivering food.

However, that doesn't sound so loud. Only a few people could describe how the restaurant was doing that night.

"So, are you supportive when Abbey is about to reenter the company?" ask Thanos.

"I guess not. I'll be working. He will wait for me to come home every day. I don't want anything to happen to our baby" Rylee explained.

That surprised Thanos. Men like Rylee need to be appreciated.

"The taste of your thinking is very mature, Rylee."

"Yes, but not as mature as Abbey's thought. I was like a child living with an adult. I admit that I love her, but I also can't make her work. Although I'm a jerk, but I deserve to fight," said Rylee proud.

Abbey returned with a face that could not be interpreted. Between upset, anger, emotion, and I don't know what.

"What's up, honey?" ask Rylee.

"We'd better go home now. Oh, yes, Thanos, I thank you for bothered to offer me a job. But I refused it. I'm sorry!"

They returned to the apartment in a taxi. Along the way, Abbey appeared silent so Rylee hesitated to ask. The more there is no interaction even makes Rylee can not stand.

"What's up, honey?" ask Rylee.

"Van forced me to go back to the company. What say?"

"Why is it such a coincidence? I mean, when Thanos asked you to, Van called too. What's behind all this, Abbey?"

Abbey fell silent. His memory goes back to someone who had to be protected. Suffering was already haunting them, but how would Abbey explain that to her husband?

"I think we'll work together, Rylee."

"Well, what do you mean?"

"I've decided I'm going to take that job in Van's office. I have also explained that I am currently pregnant. So, I'm just going to take care of some of my subordinates" explained Abbey.
