Marrying a Rich Bum

Marrying a Rich Bum
Terms

Bima's steps stopped right in the middle of the door. Bima turned her head, making sure Mariana was still there and indeed she was the one who was talking.

"I'm not scaring you. You don't have to be hooked" said Bima flat.

"No. Not at all. I'll marry you, even if I refuse to marry you, it won't threaten my life."

Bima frowned.

"I didn't mean to reject you, just now. It's just, you just don't know... I mean, my family...."

"Speak clearly."

"Look. Excuse me. I mean, my family, you don't know my parents and my brothers. They, they're gonna reject you not quite by saying no." Mariana tried to explain.

Bima nodded once. "alright. We will face it later. The important thing is that you agree with the agreement, that we only marry on paper to abort our customary law obligations."

"You don't know my family. They'll insult you all out."

"Are you afraid your family's putting you down for marrying a deaf man like me?" tanya Bima flat.

Mariana remained silent.

"I understand."

"No!" Mariana shook her head violently. "You don't understand at all. Me, I just...."

"Most importantly now, whether you accept customary law here or not. Your family business will be dealt with later after this business is settled." Bima said coldly.

"Yeah. L'm... I'll call dad."

Bima nodded once then turned around and left Mariana who was still standing tensed at the side of the bed.

In another corner of the big city where Mariana and her parents lived, the cell phone in Jordan's pocket, Mariana's father, shook.

Jordan immediately pulled it out of his pocket and saw a flashing name on the front. Marianas.

"Marine! Where have you been, huh?!" mariana's father snapped with a reddened face a mixture of panic, anger and relief.

"Papa. Forgive Mariana. Mariana is in trouble" replied Mariana across the street.

"What happened to you?"

"Mariana can't explain it here, Papa. But soon Mariana will be home, maybe with some people who will explain what happened."

"Don't be kinky, Mariana. Justsaytheword. You know Papa doesn't like puzzles."

"But Mariana really can't say it over the phone, Papa. Mariana's sorry."

"Papa. Mariana please understand."

"Aah, alright. Hurry home then and don't make Papa wait any longer."

"Good, Papa. Mariana will be home soon. Please just prepare Papa and Mama to face the worst thing Mariana will bring home."

"Yes, yeah, yeah. But please don't ever tell me you've destroyed Papa's company."

"No, Papa. This has nothing to do with the company that Mariana leads."

"Oh, great. Then there's nothing worse than that. I'll wait for you with whatever news you bring."

"Thank you, Papa."

Mariana disconnected, her eyes closed. Without her noticing, her tears came back to her eyes in light of the horrific events of that night with her ex-boyfriend.

"I'm sorry Mariana, Papa. Mariana will solve this in Mariana's own way. Sorry to disappoint papa" whispered Mariana, alone. Then he stepped towards the door, towards the living room.

"How, Miss?" asked one of the elders, when he saw Mariana appear.

"I have one condition," answered Mariana flatly, staring at every eye that was there including Bima.

"Miss, you're serving a sentence, and this sentence is unconditional."

"But I have a condition that you must fulfill." Mariana insisted.

"Silent. Let him talk." The leader of the elders, Shah Sinaro, raised his hand to calm down. All mouths fell silent immediately, swallowing back every speech that was already on the tip of each person's tongue.

"I want you to cover up the real thing, and just tell me what happened like how you caught our wet this morning."

"What do you mean?" Bima stood up, asking in shock.

"That's a condition I have."

"Do you, you mean to admit that you've committed adultery with me?" bima asked with a cold look.

"That's the condition I'm asking you, Bima." replied Mariana still with the same flat sara.

"Silence...." Syah Sinaro raised his hand. "Can we find out your reasons, miss?" ask the old man.

"Don't mean to be disrespectful, Elder. But I think the only one who deserves to know is Bima, because she will live life with me," replied Mariana still as calm as before.

The elders of those elders nodded in understanding. "alright. It's understandable. We accept your terms."

Mariana nodded once.
