Marrying a Rich Bum

Marrying a Rich Bum
COMPANY KEMELUT

Bima smiled. He sat down and realized there was a thin blanket covering his body last night. It was only fitting that he did not feel cold even though the night wind was blowing very hard.

Bima grabbed the coffee cup on the table, sipped it. Finished drinking coffee, the man walked into the kitchen, peeking at the yellow broth vegetables on the table.

"The truth is you're not as pampered as it looks, Mariana. You're even good at cooking." Bima smiled. Then the man walked into the bathroom, grabbing the bag that was on the long table beside the bathroom.

Bima stared in shock at his empty bag, his clothes were not in there. He was sure he was there after he took a shower yesterday.

Bima walked towards the balcony. He could see Mariana's clothes hanging there, in the canopied hallway where they dried clothes in the sun. The sweatshirt and trousers she last wore were also there, dripping wet. There was no other clothes there. Then where are the other clothes.

Bima tried to get into Mariana's bedroom, desperately peering into the closet, and she could find her pile of clothes that were only a quarter of the height of Mariana's clothes, neatly arranged in the corner of the closet. Bima smiled, took two strands of clothes and underwear, then went to take a bath.

An hour later, Bima was already walking quietly on the sidewalk of the road, with her stomach filled by Mariana's cooking and happy heart. Bima grabbed the phone, searched for one name and pressed the call button.

"Yes, Boss."

"Meet me in the usual place."

"Good."

Connection interrupted. Bima continued on foot, mingling with the bustling city.

While in another place, Mariana stared fiercely at the entire co-worker before her.

"Sita, give me the financial report now." Mariana reached out her hand.

The woman called Sita stood up, then handed the financial report file to Mariana.

"Didn't this report sign me every month?" mariana asked, staring at the many strange things in the report. "I've always checked it before signing it, and I'm sure this isn't what I've been receiving."

"Don't make it up, Mariana. Clearly your signature is on top of that financial statement confirmation sheet. How can you feel it's not the report you're receiving." Hendra, Mariana's cousin in charge of marketing interjected.

"I knew. But I still remember very well that there was never an expenditure of this magnitude in the company to cover the branch's devisit."

"Bellingga branch did experience devisit in that month. But on their financial statements, there is no money from the parent. They handle their devisits independently." Leo spoke up from the end of the table.

"Of course not. Because we never poured company funds to help close branch devisit." Mariana insisted.

"But those financial statements can't lie, Mariana. We even checked the validity of the signature, and the result is your signature. What found this awkwardness was a team of independent auditors, not us. So do you mean to say that we've changed the financial statements that you've even signed?"

Mariana stared irately at Alfredo. "I didn't say it at all, Alfredo. And please explain to me which account the money was sent to if the financial records say it was spent to cover the branch's devisit."

Some smiling faces were mocking, while Mariana was getting windy in her place.

"Are you sure you want to hear it, Mariana?" ask Leo cynically.

"Of course I want to hear it. Don't I have to know where the company's money goes if it's not in the branch account?"

"Wait, don't be rash, Leo." Hendra raised his hand as Leo was ready to open his mouth.

"What else. He's ready to hear the surprise he made himself, isn't he."

"Yes. I-i know. But I'm sure he's already prepared an answer, seeing his face so calm."

"What do you mean?" ask Mariana beaver. "Do you mean to accuse me of corruption?"

"Yes! Let's just say you're corrupt, and we'll forgive you on the condition that you make your resignation right now."

"Silence, calm." Noel stood up, raised both hands, calmed down.

"Look, Mariana. With your disgusting behavior and has tarnished the good name of the family...."

"Wait!" Mariana cut Noel's explanation, following the stand. "If you mean to talk about my personal life, this is not the place to be."

Noel smiled wryly. "actually no. But since this is so related, then we should talk about it here."

"What do you mean related?"

"Yes. So, are you letting me explain all the connections here, or not?" Noel fishing.

Mariana was silent, for a moment she stared worriedly at all the participants of the meeting who were not all her brothers. Half of the participants in this meeting are outsiders who hold positions in the company.

"How about Mariana, are you afraid that your cover will be opened in front of others?" Leo challenges.

Mariana glanced at Leo at a glance, hatred just suddenly rising inside her. Leo was the brother who hated Mariana the most. He always cornered Mariana at every opportunity he had, no matter where she was and who was around them.

"Alright, Noel. Do whatever you want." Mariana gulped, nodding resignedly.

"No, no. Not like this the rule. You have a voice to argue here, including protecting your privacy, Mariana. If you do object, then we won't talk about it here." Hendra interceded, acting smart, although Mariana knew that behind the smiling face was hidden two red horns and yellow canines that were ready to tear Mariana alive.

Mariana smiled cynically. "It's okay, Hendra. Do so. Tell me what's going on and what this has to do with my husband."

Hendra nodded. "Well if that's what you want, Mariana. That means you agree we're discussing it here, with no coercion from anyone."

Mariana smiled. Obviously they wanted to make sure there would be no demands later on from Mariana. Then once again Mariana nodded confidently.

"As I said before. I agree we're talking about it here, without any coercion. Everything that happens is purely on my permission." Mariana emphasized each of her sentences, as she knew for sure one of them turned on the audio of her phone to record.

Hendra nodded once more, then sat back down, leaving Noel and Mariana still standing on two different sides of the table.

"alright. So, ever since you defamed the family by committing adultery with that homeless man you married...."

Mariana gulped, restraining the increasingly bubbling anger within her.

"Actually at that time we all decided to revoke your position from the CEO of the company, because your behavior also tarnished the good name of our company. It affects some public confidence in the value of the shares we own."

Noel was silent, waiting for a response from Mariana who never came.

"alright. Since there is no rebuttal, I assume you approve of our assessment. That night, after we had a discussion about your removal from the CEO of the company, Leo got the mysterious message that you have to finish the business until the audit is over, so you can't wash your hands of everything you've done."

Mariana took a deep breath slowly trying to control herself.

"So, Mariana. The audit team found you're putting money in your account with a stock dividend statement."

"No...." Mariana shook her head in shock.

"Yes. You sent it on the same date as the dividend shares of all shareholders. That is actually very reasonable, when a company sends dividend funds to shareholders. What makes it unnatural is, because as far as we know, you don't even have a penny in this company, do you."

Mariana gulped, trying to put together a proper sentence to explain all these terrible events.

"Well. That's why we agreed to conduct a wider investigation. We print a checking account on every employee and see the financial movements are not reasonable. And that's when we found income funds from company accounts whose amount is not small. We did a crosscheck on the company's financial statements, where it said the expenditure was as a branch devisit aid fund. We did a check to the branch. They get a deposit fund with the exact same amount as the financial statements, but the fund is not from the parent company, but from the proceeds of the mortgage bond branch."

Mariana nodded in disbelief. It's impossible that he never even received any funds from the company other than the salary he earned from his position as CEO of the company.
