Thompson cleaned up the leftovers on the table, while Mariana stared impatiently at the two old men who casually downed her drink slowly.
"Grandfather.. come on."
"Patience, Mariana. What if I choke and die. You'll never hear my story at all."
Mariana pouted, snorting long.
"Alright, alright. Come onl. Where we were."
"Sarah was sent as bait."
"Well, yeah yeah..." Grandfather Bima nodded his nod, fixing his sitting position.
"So, Sarah came as bait. But first, I'll tell you how Bima owns a company."
Mariana nodded, looking back seriously.
"So Jeremi came back to me one year after the resurrection of Bima. He gave the one company he had prepared for Bima, through me. He did not want his identity as Bima's biological father to be known, unless Bima's own mother opened it. So, I gave the company to Bima on my behalf and asked her to pioneer it. I know the company is growing, but I want Bima to work hard to forget her past, so I modified it a little bit, making it seem to be developing. I gave up the company along with me giving up power over the leadership of the Lion Belang. Like I said, Bima was busy with her affairs and managed to forget her past."
Grandpa Bima took a pause to take a deep breath, loosening her chest which felt a little tight.
"Lion dagger succeeded under the hand of Bima. The company that Jeremi gave began to grow rapidly. But unfortunately, there are some people who are not happy to see the progress of Bima."
"Hortensia?" guess Mariana, almost exactly.
"Galun and Javier."
Mariana took a long breath. "Bima's Father?"
"really. Javier Salvator, approaching the White Eagle Gangster who had been far below the Lion Belang. He did massive funding to the White Eagle on condition that they were willing to accept Galang as its leader."
"Galm?!" ask Mariana in shock.
"On this matter, your grandfather understands better."
Mariana looked at her grandfather who was leaning back casually. The old man moved, positioning his seat more seriously.
"really. It all started when Jeremi came to me, asking me to please talk to Hortensia not to destroy our company."
Mariana frowned, but was silent, waiting.
"Anna, young Miss Hortensia, Jeremi's wife, is furious that Jeremi gave his company to Bima. He then planned to destroy our company by charging all the finances they had once spent on our company. Damn, he had all that financial data. Apparently he had prepared a weapon in case Jeremi would at any time intend to leave it."
"So the woman knew that one day Grandpa Jeremi might leave?"
"Yes. As a very intelligent and calculating woman, seeing how wild Jeremi is out there, of course she has prepared weapons to survive, no."
Mariana nodded in understanding.
"Fulfilling Jeremi's request, I came to see Anna. I told the woman that Jeremi did it not because he wanted to turn away from Anna, but because Mary was the daughter of one of our friends. He just wants to be responsible to his best friend, not to the child or the woman he's cheating on."
"Did Miss Anna believe it?"
"of course. Who wouldn't believe your grandfather, if his aura had gone around his body." Grandpa Mariana chuckled.
"She believed, and her immense love shattered her disappointment in Jeremi. But it still does not shed its hatred of Bima and Mary."
"What does he want?"
"Destroy them both. That's why he's looking for Javier and telling him the truth, hoping Javier will kill his son and wife with his hands. Dear Javier also loves Maria too much to be able to do it."
"So, he failed, didn't he?"
"Absolutely not. Instead he managed to wash his hands thoroughly from his actions."
"How's...?"
"Let me continue." Grandpa Bima gestured using her hands.
"So, he sent Sarah to approach Bima. The scenario he compiled was for Sarah to gnaw on Bima's property and exhaust it. Unfortunately, Bima is not a man who easily falls in love. The disappointment of the past, made his heart freeze. He treated Sarah well, he even complied as Sarah pleaded for Bima to be willing to sleep with him, but Bima did not care about him at all. She followed whatever Sarah's will, just because Sarah had been working responsibly during her secretary."
"Sarah, Bima's secretary?"
"Yes. The woman could almost be said to be Bima's body. Everything Bima needs to do in the company, Sarah does."
Mariana nodded in understanding.
"The failure of his plan enraged Anna and she decided to conspire with Javier, by placing Galang in the position of the head of the white eagle. This time they managed it easily, of course. Because the funds that Hortensia poured for the progress of the white eagle gangster was so great, then with open arms they were willing to accept Galang. Feeling strong, they came to Bima to divide the territory."
"Dividing territory?"
"Yes. Gangsters always have territory. All this time the Lion Belang was the king in the underground world. He controlled the entire region, though he knew there were white eagles moving in small, untouched areas."
"Did Bima agree to it?"
"Yes. But that's not the problem. Division of territory is not a strange thing in the underground world, Mariana. But the root of the problem was that Galang saw Sarah and fell in love with her. Sarah is too. Seeing the aura of love so great on Galang, while Bima did not have it at all, made Sarah turn away. Sarah is secretly in touch with Galang behind Bima."
"They're having an affair?"
"Precisely no. Because Sarah and Bima never had a special relationship. Their relationship is limited to bosses and secretaries, nothing more. Even if they have sexual intercourse, but that doesn't mean it makes them bonded in the relationship."
"You live as in the west" complained Mariana.
"really. That's how our lives are underground."
Mariana grunts long.
"I remember, Sarah once said the gangster chief White Eagle was in love with her, but she didn't say they had a relationship. He said he just met the head gangster of the white eagle after giving birth to his son, if I don't remember his son died in a diner in the white eagle area."
Grandpa Bima smiled cynically. "really. The baby had indeed died there, at a feeding ground that was precisely the headquarters of the white hawk gangster."
Grandpa Bima nodded.
"But the place doesn't look like a headquarters at all. Just a little place to eat."
Grandpa Mariana widened her eyes. "Have you ever visited that place?!" tanyanya, looking down at Mariana seriously.
Mariana hesitated. "Sarah took me there, right before I left Bima."
"Sneaky!" sizzle Thompson, make Mariana look.
"What's up, Uncle?"
Thompson shook his head.
"That place is the headquarters of the white eagle, Mariana. There was a secret passage to the underground, their forges gathered. But just so you decided to go away from Bima at that time, because otherwise they would have kept you there, or made you captive."
Mariana turned her head in horror.
"Sarah memorized the area very well and she even knew what was underneath the little shop, Mariana. He almost set you up. Very correct decision to stay away from Bima, there."
Mariana blinked, trying to digest her Grandfather's explanation.
"Was...what was the affair that made Sarah pregnant?" mariana asked, amidst her confusion digesting the information piled up.
"Yes." Yeah."
"Why did Sarah not demand Galang, instead of Bima. What is Sarah looking for from Bima?"
"First, they couldn't possibly admit it, because Sarah was in the box of Bima's territory."
"What does that mean?"
"Anything that is above ground, at ground level, until below ground the territory of Bima should not be touched by the White Eagle. That means, covering all humans who tread on the land of Bima, untouchable by gangsters White Eagle. And vice versa."
"That's impossible."
"That's the truth, Mariana."
"So, it made Sarah acknowledge the baby as Bima's son?"
"It's not the only reason. Sarah is also worried. She herself wasn't sure who the baby in her stomach was, because she was playing with both of them without safety."
"Stupid!" Mariana nodded in disbelief.
"But Bima knows. Bima, like me. He is a very capable reader. Although the baby had just grown up in his mother's womb, but his aura had already mixed with his mother's aura, and Bima knew the baby was not his."
Mariana was confused.
"For this part you won't understand. What's clear is that Bima and I know, baby Sarah doesn't belong to Bima."
Mariana nodded originally, only for the story to continue.
"Bima refused to acknowledge the baby. Meanwhile, the third reason Sarah hunted Bima, because Sarah only realized that Galang also did not expect her presence at all. The man slept with several other women, though his mouth said Sarah was the only one. He used Sarah to destroy Bima. Unfortunately Bima is not at all afraid of losing Sarah."
"How could Sarah be deceived? Isn't he also able to read the aura?"
"Yes. Sometimes for an unspeakable reader, reading the aura can go wrong. They will not be able to distinguish the momentary, the deliberate, and the pure from the heart."
Mariana was confused, but her head nodded again. "I assume I understand. All right, continue."
Grandpa Bima smiled understandingly. "It's hard, kid. Because you've been blinded."
"Blindly?"
"Ah, that's it. I mean, you'll never be able to understand it."
Mariana nodded back.
"So that's what made Bima leave Sarah? Is it because she knows Sarah's baby isn't her child?"
"No, no, you're wrong. Bima never left Sarah. He still obeyed whatever Sarah wanted, but never gave the woman the attention she needed. I told you, Bima's heart had died years before."
"Didn't Sarah know the child she was carrying wasn't Bima's?"
"Know. Although he was worried, but in the end he knew."
"So, why did he go back to Bima?"
"Because of the three reasons I mentioned earlier."
Mariana was silent, her face was brooding.
"Why?" asked Grandpa Bima, watching the change in look of Mariana's face.
"I know what it's like to be Sarah, Cake."
"No. You don't know." Grandpa Mariana interrupted.
"During Leo's pregnancy I lived alone like Sarah, Cake. No husband, family, or friends who provide support, even though Leo is very fussy when in the womb."
"It's your own fault why play run away from your husband. You don't know Bima almost killed herself because of you!" gritted Grandpa Mariana, glaring furiously.
Mariana froze in place, even blinking felt heavy.
"You destroyed Bima when you decided to leave. I told you, Bima's heart had frozen. You thawed it. So after this, don't blame her attitude on you for coming back cold and flat, because you're also the one who put her back at a low temperature."
Mariana gulped. He wanted to protest, but he knew he was guilty.
