Marrying a Rich Bum

Marrying a Rich Bum
LOOKING FOR A SHELTER

Cars rolled over paved roads. Bima carried him very calmly. Mariana leaned back, staring blankly at the highway.

"Madriana." Bima says hello. Mariana looked in response.

Bima glanced at a glance, then shook her head.

"What's wrong?" mariana asked, even though her tone sounded flat and empty.

"What do you feel?" ask Bima.

Mariana took a long breath. "Looking," he said.

Bima nodded. "Of course you're disappointed. You're a respectable and wealthy woman, to be wasted with a man who doesn't even own a house like me."

Mariana quickly shook her head. "I'm not disappointed about that."

Bima looked over, raising an eyebrow. Mariana smiled blandly. His head leaned back against the chair, staring straight ahead.

"Can I turn on the audio?" ask Bima.

Mariana nodded.

Bima turned on the audio, choosing soothing slow songs. Mariana glanced at Bima. The man changed the song and set the volume barely looking towards the audio. His eyes looked at the middle of the crowded street, while his one hand was above the audio screen.

Mariana watched the road. He just realized, under Bima's hand, this car was as if it was walking on the highway. Bima carried him not slowly, but Mariana barely felt any shock as Bima overtook or stepped on the brakes. The way to drive this guy is very smooth. If this is the first time Bima holds a car like Mariana's, it should not be this nimble this man took her.

"How to drive you is so smooth. Have you ever driven this kind of car before?" Mariana asked.

"Oh, I. I used to work as a driver" replied Bima who was suddenly nervous.

"Personal driver?"

Bima nodded brokenly.

"Why not anymore?"

"My boss died in an accident."

Mariana.

"I never scratched a car. He was driving alone when the accident happened," Bima said flatly, looking at the tense expression in Mariana's eyes.

Mariana smiled. The sweetest smile that Bima had just seen was on her thin lips that were pale pink.

"Eh, Bima."

Bima.

"Don't take it personally, just curious."

Bima nodded, her gaze returning to the road.

"Where have you been living all this time?"

Bima silence.

"No problem. Me, hitchhiking at grandpa's. But roam more often in the woods."

"In the woods?" ask Mariana in shock. Bima nodded.

"Sleeping in the woods you mean?"

Bima laughed wryly. "You think I'm a monkey, sleeping hanging in the trees."

"Oh, no. It's not like that. I mean...."

"I understand. Don't worry about offending me."

Mariana nodded slowly.

"Emmm, Milky. Can't we just hitchhike last night at your grandfather's?" mariana asked doubtfully.

"First, my grandfather is definitely not home right now. If you said that, maybe I could borrow the keys to the house."

"Oh. How do I know we're gonna be stranded on the streets like this." Mariana grumbling. "Where do you know your grandfather wasn't home? Sorry, I don't trust you. Just want to know." Mariana quickly added.

"I told you not to worry about being offended. Curiosity is humane" Bima replied calmly. "Yes. So, whenever there is a customary violation in our hamlet, the elders will usually go and spend the night in the bungalow of the ancestors to ask for safety prayers so that our village is safe from the curse."

"You mean customary transgression, is it like we do?"

"I think we never do anything" Bima said flatly.

"Oh, I mean... No, I..."

Bima held a smile. "No need to panic. I know what you mean."

Mariana clucked in annoyance, re-streaking her way with a sullen face.

"I'm sorry if you feel uncomfortable sleeping on the street. But anyway, grandfather's house only had one room."

"It's okay. I don't really need a bed to sleep. I just need a bathroom. I have to work tomorrow morning. How am I gonna be prepared if the shower is hard."

" Work? Aren't we still on our honeymoon?" ask Bima casually.

Mariana looked up, glaring.

Bima smiled bitterly. "I think we will honeymoon like new brides in general" Bima said indifferently.

"Remember our covenant, Bima. You're the one who proposed that we only get married on paper."

Bima shrugged his shoulders.

"We rented a hotel. I'll rent you a room."

"no need. If you really want to sleep in a hotel, I won't go. I'm used to sleeping anywhere."

Mariana grunts long. His lips opened to answer, his phone ringing.

"Grandfather.." muttered Mariana staring at the phone screen.
