SECTION FIVE

Leo Pov

My name is Leo Adinata, the first of two children. My father was just a Public servant at the government office in Yogyakarta, My mother was just a housewife. I also have a sister named Karina.

Our life is actually more than enough, it's just that I want to look glamorous in society. Always wanted to buy clothes, shoes and bags every father payday, so that makes our lives become mediocre.

I who like the art world was finally able to complete my higher education at the Indonesian Art Institute in Yogyakarta, my hometown.

Now I am the father of a son named Rio Adinata, and I have a perfect wife in my opinion, Rahayu.

A few months after getting married, my wife Ayu and I decided to travel to the capital. Not because we didn't get a job in Yogya, but to avoid the commotion because of the mother who disliked Ayu, my wife.

Mother's dislike for Ayu was seen from the beginning I introduced Ayu as my girlfriend to the family.

I think because Ayu and I were still students that made my mother not approve of our relationship. I don't really care about that, I think it's just a matter of time.

I love Ayu at first sight. At that time I was delivering one of my friends met his girlfriend at the gate of UGM Yogyakarta. Ayu then continued her studies there, majoring in Management.

The meeting happened with the help of my friends. I really admire Ayu, a woman with a look like her name, a woman who is friendly, independent and intelligent. Finally our closeness continued to courtship.

Ayu is an independent child. Evidently when he was in college he was not shy to sell concert tickets, peddling food on Sundays in the tourist center of Yogyakarta even taught private tutoring of elementary school children.

When Ayu finished her Study before me, Ayu also worked in a factory in this city, but it did not last long, Ayu has also been a Sales one of the leading provider cards in the country, even the last Ayu became a Cashier in one of the car marketing offices with a well-known brand.

After I finished college, I was encouraged to find work. I want to propose to Ayu immediately. I ended up teaching at one of the private High Schools in Yogaya.

"Leo, you father's son, I believe in you, whatever your choice, it must be the best for you" said the father, patting me on the shoulder slowly.

Father's words were like a breath of fresh air to me, I delivered this good news to Ayu, even though mother looked more silent to me.

Ayu is the only child of a famous businessman in Semarang. Ayu spent her High School in Jakarta, because Papa and her mother opened a business branch in Jakarta. Ayu and her family are very simple and generous even though she is from the most prominent of this country.

Our wedding was carried out with great fanfare in the city of Semarang the birthplace of Ayu. Many praise Mother for getting a beautiful daughter-in-law and from a distinguished family. But it didn't all dampen Mother's hatred for Ayu.

After marriage I took Ayu to Yogya, to my parents' house. Because Ayu and I still work in Yogya.

"Enough Mom, just treat Ayu like everyone else in this house, I can't take it anymore!!" I shouted at Mom at that moment.

"Leo, you're Mom's son, why are you defending this woman!!" Mom pointed at Ayu's face with one finger.

"Lo's wife, if you don't like Ayu, you don't like Leo either, Leo will leave this house!" I was upset and disappointed in Mom.

"Well, what did you do to Leo, you dared to instigate Leo so that Leo dared to fight to his own mother, you brash Ayu!! " Mom yells at Ayu. I pulled Ayu's hand into the room, I asked Ayu to take care of all the clothes and other important files.

"Where are we going, man?" ayu asked with a frightened face at that moment.

"Where, we have to get out of this house" I said, helping Ayu put all of our belongings in her suitcase. From the room I heard you scolding Mom, it looks like you just came home from the office.

Ayu and I also say goodbye to my father and my sister Karina. I locked myself in my room, not wanting to be found.

"You're the head of the household, Ayu is your wife, protect her and give her the best for her, you believe in you" said the Father as he hugged me.

Ayu and I finally left for the capital. We occupied Ayu's parents' house in Jakarta first. Ayu's parents have returned to Semarang, because the business he runs in Jakarta suffered losses. Until now, my father-in-law continues to run his business in Semarang.

With Ayu's intelligence and dexterity. Ayu got a job first. As for me, it still remains a small-paying art teacher. Ayu never left me despite her successful career.

Until finally one of Papa's friends in-laws offered me to work at his International school, with my persistence in working, Papa entrusted me to cultivate the Music Arts Course.

Without hesitation I worked hard for all of this, so that Papa and Ayu would not be disappointed in me.

Since my father died, my relationship with my mother has been better. It was all because of my father's request. Ayu and I helped my mother send Karina to school until it was over. Ayu also often sent Mom money to mom in Yogya. Mother's nature is still cynical to Ayu, if we go home to Lebaran Mother still looks indifferent to Ayu. Fortunately my sister Karina is very familiar with Ayu, so Ayu does not feel ostracized in my family.

"Mom wants you to marry her" Mother replied to my surprise, I looked at Mom's face seriously.

"I mean Mom, I want someone to take care of you and Rio at home, Ayu is very busy, there is no time for you and Rio" Mother gave an excuse.

"And Laras also wants to be your second wife" continued Mother again. I just kept my anger on Mom.

"Mom also knows, Laras was the first woman you liked, Laras told me all the same Mom, Laras was also a Widow without children kok Rio" Mother continued to explain to me.

"What's less Ayu Bu? what's wrong with my mom's eyes?" ask me Mom.

"Leo, you are now successful, you need a wife who is at home to serve you, while Ayu, a busy working woman, will gradually abandon you and Rio" replied, Mom tried to persuade me.

I left Mom alone in the backyard. I went into the room and calmed my mind.

From that moment on I felt the atmosphere of this house like hell, there was no joy like before. Everything's messed up because of Mom's selfishness.

"Leo, you have to anterin I'm meeting a friend Mom now, I'm afraid to go alone in a taxi" said Mother.

I who was then going to cook fried rice for Rio became confused.

"But ma'am "I said I wanted to refuse.

"No buts, just for a second" Mom pulled my hand towards the door.

"Where are you going?" call Rio from his bedroom door.

"Papa want to take a moment to granny, Papa will come home soon and cook fried rice for you" I replied to Rio, Rio just nodding lethargicly in response to my words.

Here we are now. In a coffee shop. Mom forced me to go in to see her friend.

"Please Leo, I don't want to wait here alone, anyways why are you so nervous?" mom revealed.

"Rio's at home, I'm afraid he hasn't eaten, Ayu's coming home late today" I replied.

We split up in front of the coffee shop, and my mother and I went straight home. All the way I was silent. While I always praised Laras with pride, I drove the car at high speed, hoping Mom would stop talking about Laras.

Scroll the clock on the wall, already showing nine o'clock at night. Ayu was sleeping soundly, I went out of the room to see Rio, I felt very guilty leaving him alone at home earlier. Rio was also sleeping.

I sit in the kitchen and make coffee. My mind drifted to think of Mom's behavior, I was afraid that she would destroy my own family. What am I supposed to do?
