THE SIXTEENTH SECTION

POV Mom Leo

My name is Mirna, mother of Leo and Karina. My husband returned to his divine lap five years ago.

In Yogya I was alone with Karina my youngest son who now works in the Telecommunications office in Yogya.

Leo my son is married and has given me a very handsome grandson. Leo and his family now live in Jakarta.

Leo had a wife named Rahayu, or commonly called Ayu.

Ayu a motherly woman who is soft-hearted and independent, I admit it. Even though I didn't approve of their relationship from the beginning they were dating.

Leo is a very obedient and kind boy. Leo never once denied me and his father, as did Karina who was 10 years old with Leo.

I remember the first time Leo took Ayu to our house, introducing Ayu as his girlfriend. It was the first time Leo introduced a lover to us, his family.

The longer the relationship between Leo and Ayu is getting serious, plus Leo has expressed his intention to invite Ayu to be made his wife. I'm very much against that, because I've prepared my chosen soul mate for Leo.

Leo always persuaded me to accept Ayu as his future wife, but I remained steadfast with my stance. Since then Leo has changed, he rarely eats at home, he is busy with his work. Leo was quieter, especially to me.

That's what made me even more dislike Ayu, Leo's chosen woman.

Since hanging out with Ayu, Leo is not what he used to be, I'm sure it's all because of Ayu's incitement.

Thanks to my husband Leo being able to question Ayu, I was forced to approve of her because of the persuasion from my husband and Karina back then. But on condition that I do not want to have a ghostly event in our residence, even though it is the thing I really want if Leo is married to the woman of my choice.

Many praised me for having a beautiful daughter-in-law, diligent, independent and from a distinguished family. Yes I admit it all, but with all the advantages it will keep Leo away from me, Leo must be more concerned with his wife than me, I'm pretty sure of that. Whatever we are from a normal family, my husband is just a PNS in the government office, whose salary is mediocre, to buy my clothes, bags, shoes and cosmetics every month is not enough.

After getting married in Semarang Ayu's hometown, Leo took his wife to Yogya. Ayu and Leo work in Yogya.

Since Ayu was in Yogya, all the housework was almost all she did, of course because of my orders. What makes me even more upset, Karina who I often forbid to help Ayu was blatantly rejecting my orders, Karina always helped Ayu's work. Moreover my husband always asked me to treat Ayu well, I was annoyed that everyone blamed me and defended Ayu.

What Ayu did was never quite right in my eyes, the food that I thought was not good, even though others liked Ayu's cooking. Clean work that still looks dirty in my opinion, although others say Ayu's work is clean and neat.

The peak was when I scolded Ayu, Leo who was just back from work accidentally heard me scolding Ayu all out. Leo was angry and did not accept because I treated Ayu like that. Never have I seen Leo this angry, I'm sure it must have been because of his wife's incitement that Leo dared to fight me.

Leo then took his foot out of the house. I don't know where Leo and his wife live, Leo never even told me, his mother. That's what makes my hatred for Ayu even more mountainous.

If Leo were to marry the woman of my choice, surely none of this would happen, we would already be very happy now.

Two months after Leo's departure, Karina tells him that Leo's wife Ayu is pregnant with their first child, our first grandchild. My heart was so happy then, I was going to be a grandmother. And from there we know that Leo and Ayu have settled in Jakarta.

That day I, Karina and my husband, were going to Jakarta, because Ayu had given birth to our granddaughter two weeks ago.

When we got to their house, I was amazed at the house they were in. The house is quite luxurious, although not too big, they also already have a good car.

I know that the house is a gift Ayu's parents and so is the car. But to me, it's all Leo's, my son. That's why I didn't heed my husband's advice, to keep the attitude at Leo's house. I'm more relaxed, foot-barges in this house.

"Then mom was with Ayu and her parents" my husband said at the time.

At that time Ayu's parents were also in Jakarta, even before Ayu gave birth. But they stayed in their apartment and did not stay at Ayu and Leo's house.

Every morning Ayu's parents come to deliver food, sometimes even cooking at Ayu's house. I do not care, I always pray that they quickly leave Jakarta so that I am more free in this house.

"Well, you don't sleep constantly" I told Ayu that afternoon.

"Sorry mom, Ayu was really sleepy because last night Rio didn't want to sleep, so we stayed up late" Ayu replied.

"Everyone feels it, but that doesn't mean you're lazy" I scolded him again.

Ayu just looked down to hear my words.

Days change, months change and years change. Five years ago, I lost my husband forever. Since my husband's departure, Leo has been kinder to me, because of his father's request.

It was then that I met Larasati, a beautiful woman, who was also Leo's friend during high school. A widow for divorce. And from him too I know that Laras is Leo's first love.

I don't know why I had the intention of making Laras Leo's second wife. Leo already has it all, I don't want only Ayu and her family to enjoy it all. I want Leo and all his possessions to be mine, that's what I want Laras to be Leo's second wife.

"What's? Mom seriously?" laras said as I expressed my intention to make Laras my son-in-law.

"Yes, I like you so much, don't you?" my spoken.

"But ma'am, Leo already has a family" Laras hesitated.

"That will be the business of the mother, who oenting you want to be Leo's second wife, you will get everything, Leo has been successful" I told Laras.

After three days Laras asked for time to think about my door, he agreed. I just have to think of a way to persuade Leo.

I went to Jakarta to launch my action. I've prepared the words to persuade Leo. But, when I expressed my wish to Leo, Leo vehemently refused, I also invited him to meet with Laras even though it started with a lie, but again Leo did not want to make Laras my choice to be his second sitri. Even the days that followed, Leo would not talk to me, and every time he met he always avoided.

Until Leo finally asked his sister Karina to pick me up, I did not accept Leo's treatment of me. I vented my anger on Ayu, thus making both Ayu and me fight that night.

When in Yogya I tried various ways to persuade Leo, I had already pretended to be sick to let Leo hurt me. Leo refused, however. Until I end up threatening suicide if Leo doesn't obey my will.

With a cup of liquid mosquito poison in my hand, I threatened Leo when he came to Yogya, because he got word if I was sick. Leo still remained with his stance of not going to marry Laras.

I recklessly brought the end of the cup closer to my mouth, just as I was about to drink it Leo shouted and agreed to marry Laras. But, I had to be taken to the hospital, because of the poisoning of the mosquito poison liquid that entered my mouth. After almost four days of treatment I was able to go home. I was excited to see Leo and Laras' wedding, even if it was Siri's.

"Why is Mom so bad?" Karina was crying in front of me.

"Poor Mbak Ayu and Rio Bu, don't you think about them?" Karina.

"This is none of your business Karin, this is all your Mom and Mas's decision" I replied.

"Didn't you see how devastated Mas Leo is now, Mom, just cancel Mumpung Bu is not too late" pinta Karina.

"Already Karin, you don't have to interfere, already there enter your room" I drove Karina out of my room.

Since then Karina has never spoken to me again, not even to Leo. Karina stays in the room more when she comes home from work.

After the marriage of Leo and Laras Siri which took place in our residence. Karina said goodbye and left this house, I tried to hold her back but Karina did not budge in the least. Karina left the house and did not know where, I asked her friends no one knew where Karina was, I went to her office but Karina had resigned from her job. I really lost Karina.

When Leo was going home to Jakarta, Laras and I insisted on a little and also settled in Jakarta. At first Leo refused, but I threatened to tell Ayu about her marriage and Laras. To the point of not wanting Leo to obey my wishes.

Two days in Jakarta, we stayed at the hotel. I've been urging Leo to buy us a house and a car, otherwise I'm going to expose this secret to Leo. Again Leo did not dwell and accepted our wishes. Ayu has really become my weapon and Laras at the moment.

Leo has bought us a nice house and a new car. And all our daily needs, not including for shopping-shopping clothes, bags and shoes.

Day after day I went through happily, although there was a corner of the heart that hurt when I remembered Karina who now did not know where.

The more days, the more I get to know Laras. Fashionable woman with all her luxuries, with her glamorous life. Baras will spend more time with his friends. It is not uncommon for Laras to come home in the morning. I don't know what he's doing out there.

Leo never rebukes all of Laras's behavior. Even Leo almost never spoke to Baras, let alone touched him. But that's okay, love will be present if it's used to it.

Now everything is destroyed when Ayu finds out everything. The house and the car were all taken. Laras and I had to leave this house.

Even Leo has divorced Laras. Baras was angry with me, and left me alone.

Leo never called me, visited me on my last day in the house. I really don't know what to do.

With my savings money that Ayu had been sending, I bought a ticket to go back to Yogya. I've been trying to get in touch with Leo, but Leo never answered my phone. Maybe Leo really hates me.

In Yogya I lived with solitude and loneliness, I lost Karina and also lost Leo. I regretted doing evil to Ayu. I'm really really sorry.
