Day after day at school I walked by seeing Dila and Ridwan who were getting closer and also now I did not dare to openly approach Dila like that time. Now I can only like you in silence, admire you in the distance and think about every opportunity. If we are destined to meet we should have a chance to be together even though the possibility is 1/10 but I am sure, one possibility could be true. I'm afraid that if you really know, you've been sensitive for a long time but what you want is not me.
The school bell rang the first subjects at the beginning and coincidentally this first lesson hour was German and also my German teacher at that time was very firm and did not like it in that class there was trash in sight, and finally the teacher told the picket group this morning to clean the back of the wall that a fair amount of garbage was wandering around the back bench.
“Who's picket today.” Said the teacher, me and my picket group raised their hands.
“Ardiansyah, please clean up the trash that is behind.” Of the seven picket groups that exist why should I clean it and also this teacher prefers to call me by my middle name.
I easily followed the teacher's request. “Good bu.”
I also walked to the back while carrying a broom and a rasp to clean up the hefty trash that was behind the student seat, I also started cleaning up the trash by picking up the trash I could easily hold and after I cleaned up the trash that was easy to hold, I took care of it, I planned to clean up the little trash using a broom but when I tried to take the broom I put near Hendrik's seat bench I held the hand of someone holding the broom, by reflex I immediately saw someone I was holding his hand, and it turned out that the hand I was holding was Dila's.
My heart was beating fast and my eyes were only focused with both of her brown eyes in my view, I kept looking into her eyes until I got caught in my daydream.
“Dena... Why?” Said Dila waking me up from my daydream earlier.
I let go of Dila's hand and tried to take the broom that Dila held. “No papa let me alone aja.”
Dila tried to hold the broom. “Udah no papa let me help, let you cepet finish.”
“Udah Ardiansyah, why do you refuse Dila's request, not with the two of you cleaning the garbage can finish more cepet.” Said the teacher who saw Dila wanted to help me.
I also received help from Dila and with the help of Dila I was finally able to complete the task quickly and I asked the teacher for permission to remove the garbage that I and Dila had collected to throw out.
That teacher who saw me and Dila wanted to throw out the trash together smiled at me. “Wie romantic. Ibu do'ain hope you become a lasting couple.”
“Aamiin.” Said my classmates compactly except with Ridwan who seemed annoyed because Dila helped me complete the task.
Dila and I who were embarrassed because in the cheers of classmates were then quickly went out to throw their trash, he said, from one side I was smiling and from the other side I was also disappointed because Dila was now close to Ridwan.
I who had finished taking out the trash and saw Dila who was walking in front of me directly calling out to him before he entered the classroom. “Dila wait..”
Dila who heard my voice immediately turned her body towards me. “Iya Den, why?”
I smiled at him. “Thank you yes, have helped Deni.”
Dila just smiled beautifully.
Dila and I entered the classroom and sat down at each other's places. The feeling of indecision that haunted my mind made it difficult for me to focus on the lesson. Time passed quickly, until finally the break bell rang.
From a distance, I saw Dila approaching me. Inwardly, I thought that it might not be me that he wanted to meet, but the person next to me. Maybe he wants to get to Ridwan, my best friend. Before Dila arrived at my seat, I chose to leave that place and quit the classroom.
With a heavy heart, I walked out of the classroom without looking back. All my thoughts were on Dila and Ridwan getting closer. I felt a deep disappointment, but I didn't want to show it to anyone. My steps felt heavy and the sky outside looked gloomy, as if reflecting my current feelings.
A moment after I walked out of the classroom, a hand pulled my wrist firmly, making me instantly turn around. My heart thumped as I saw who pulled my hand.
“Where are you going?” Ask the man to me, while still clasping tightly to my wrist.
“Dila..” I was surprised to find out that the person who pulled my hand was Dila.
Suddenly, Bintang and Windi caught up with Dila, while showing a message on her phone. “Lu don't read messages from Desi?” Star Saying.
I read the message the Star showed on her phone. The writing reads, “Udah long we do not have lunch together, cave wait in the canteen as well as Deni if he does not want to tell Dila who invited him.”
A smile was engraved on my face as I read the message. However, I tried to let go of Dila's hand that was still tightly grasping my wrist. “Yes, you guys go first. Later cave nyulus.”
Regardless of my words, Dila still pulled my hand firmly, giving me no chance to argue. “You're coming, don't protest much.” Dila said while continuously pulling my hand.
I felt shock and confusion in my heart. While Dila continued to pull my hand steadily, Star smiled as if she had already planned this situation. I felt increasingly trapped in this unexpected state, without having any control over myself.
Arriving at the cafeteria, my gaze immediately fell on Desi and Ian who were sitting where the six of us usually gathered.
“Lu on a really long time si?” Desi said to the four of us who had just arrived.
“This brat is usually difficult for him to invite.” Said the Star while pointing at me with a slight joke.
I immediately sat down beside Desi and unhesitatingly picked up the drink she was holding. “What's the matter, your tumben told me to gather like gini?”
Desi spontaneously recaptured the drink I just gulped. “Kampret lu, still aja nyelonong nyedot drinks people.”
“The name is also thirsty, Des.” Reply with a smile.
“But yes, cave wants to order food first.” Windi said as he walked towards the mother canteen, followed by Dila.
I looked at Desi with curiosity. “What's up? Tumben you can gather like this?”
Desi smiled as she replied, “Yes, we have not been together for a long time, so there is no harm in having lunch together.”
Soon, Windi and Dila return with food for all of us. They put baso bowls and unsalted tea cups on the table.
“Nih, same food drinks.” Windi said as he arranged the food in front of us.
“Lah, which cave?” I asked Windi, a little confused.
Windi smiled as he replied, “Lah... Did you say you wanted nitip, what would you eat?”
“Campret emang.” I said in an annoyed tone, realizing that I forgot to tell him my food order.
Dila approached the table with two servings of food and a tug of tea. He placed a bowl of chicken noodles and a tug of tea in front of me.
“It's got you, chicken noodles and tea pull.” Speak Dila with a gentle smile.
The star who saw the food and drink I got, exactly the same as what was given to Dila, could not help but comment. “Lu two has rarely eaten together, but still the menu is the same.”
I felt like I was in a complicated situation. While my feelings towards Dila were getting unstoppable, I was afraid of the fact that the close relationship between Dila and Ridwan was growing. Even though we sat together in silence, Dila's presence beside me provided a sense of comfort and warmth that I found difficult to explain.
While the others were busy eating, Ian's voice suddenly broke the silence. “It feels good that we can get together like this.”
Ian sighed for a moment before replying. “Today is the last day of the cave in this school. Starting tomorrow, the cave will be changing schools and joining cave parents who work outside the city. Although actually the cave still wants to stay here until graduation, but inevitably, the cave must follow the cave parents.”
“But occasionally you go back to Bogor, right, Ian?” Ask the Stars to Ian.
Ian smiled. “Yes for sure, the cave must have returned to Bogor. Later if the cave returns, the cave will tell you all to eat, with a different atmosphere, maybe one day Deni and Dila are married. Hahaha.”
We all laughed at Ian's reproach. “Hahaha. Taik lu, the cave has not thought until there.”
The bell rang, Ian and Desi had entered their class first. “I first yes to class.” Said the Star while walking with Windi, leaving me and Dila together.
I saw Dila who looked sad to hear the news that Ian was about to change schools. I tried to comfort him so he wouldn't think much of Ian.
I smiled a little. “No papa Dila. He just moved schools. At least he didn't move to another country. After all, without Ian, the air in this school would be fresher. Hehehe.”
Dila just smiled hearing my words earlier. I who got the chance to be together with him wanted to ascertain how Dila's relationship with Ridwan really was.
“Dila, I—”
Suddenly, Ridwan cut off my words and approached Dila who was sitting alone with me. “Dila..”.
Dila who heard Ridwan's voice calling out to him immediately turned to him.
Ridwan walked towards my seat and Dila while taking a chair to sit next to Dila. “I want to tell you about the task of cultural art, he said his task was told to take pictures of historical paintings in the exhibition and each group consisted of three people.”
“What's the deadline when?”
“Next week, fitting Cultural Arts subjects.”
“Oh yes, you want to not be with me?” Take Ridwan to Dila who does not have a group at all.
“Iya can, it's one group of three people, one more person already exists?” Dila asked Ridwan who was beside her.
“But si.”
I saw them chatting together without caring about me, then decided to go to class. “I first yes.”
“Den wait..” Dila stopped me from going to class.
I who wanted to walk left the canteen turned my head and turned my body towards Dila who just stopped me.
“You have no groupings, if you later find a group also surely others have already made it first, what if you become our group, yakan Wan is not papa?” Take Dila to me for a group with him and ask Ridwan for approval.
Ridwan just nodded his head in approval to Dila's request, I was confused between accepting Dila's offer or not in the end agree with Dila's words, because it might be true as Dila said if I went to class, the others would have made the group too.
I let out a breath. ”Yes yes, I joined your group.” I left the cafeteria to go to class. “Yes, I went to class first yes.”
“Wait, I also want to go to class.” Dila followed my steps that had gone first. Ridwan who himself finally followed me to class, me, Dila and Ridwan also walked to class.
The second lesson bell reads and now is a Cultural Arts lesson and each group has to sit down together. The star who saw me sat down one group with Ridwan just trying to hold back his laughter to not laugh at me.
“Eh yes we want to which exhibition is this?” Ask Dila to me and Ridwan
Ridwan immediately responded to Dila's question. “Most I think we go to the weekly exhibition only in the old city, how?”
“If you are Den, no idea?” Dila also asked for my opinion.
“I did not follow, because I also have never been to the exhibition.”
“Ya have we fixed this to the old city exhibition?” Tanya Dila confirmed her decision.
Ridwan and I just nodded in agreement to Dila's words. “Ya it's Saturday tomorrow we'll make an appointment at the station at nine.”
The day changed quickly, and now was the day that our group would go to the weekly exhibition in the old city of Jakarta to work on the task of Cultural Arts. I arrived earlier at the train station than the others, sitting alone in the station chair while carrying the two drinks I had just bought. At exactly 08:45, Ridwan arrived at the station and approached me who was waiting for him in the station seat.
Ridwan walked up to me. “Eh... Dila where?”
“Not yet to come.” I answered while playing my phone.
“Ya already cave buy train tickets first.” He wants to walk to the train counter.
I immediately pulled out three train tickets aiming at the old city from my pocket. “Gua already bought.”
“Oke, thanks.” Taking the train ticket in my hand.
Exactly nine hours the train will leave, but Dila has not yet arrived at the station. I told Ridwan to get on the train first and let me find Dila. “Lu take the train first, let the cave that Dila.” is looking for
“Guu also want to find Dila.” Ridwan replied stubbornly rejecting my request.
I didn't force Ridwan to change his retirement, so I let him do what he wanted. Eventually, the two of us parted ways and tried to find Dila. Ridwan went to the west gate, while I went to the east gate while continuing to look for Dila. The train started slowly. I who was looking at Dila from a distance and immediately ran towards her, pulled her hand.
“Dila, come!” I said while in front of Dila, pulling her sweat-soaked hands, asking her to run back to chase the last train car whose door was still open.
“Eh, Deni.. sorry, I'm late.” He said as he ran with me chasing the train that was still running slowly.
As we both tried to chase after the train, our actions caught the attention of the officers who were around. They soon realized that we were trying to get onto a moving train, and without a doubt they started chasing us. Their steps sound quick and loud on the platform board, adding to the tension in this already dramatic situation. This feeling made me feel a biting sensation of deja vu, like returning to the same moment as the events I had been through before.
In an increasingly gripping state, a loud exclamation shot out from my lips, trembling with the breathless breath I was trying to control. “Dila, let's go up!” my voice echoed across the platform, trying to penetrate the crowd of voices and chaos around.
Dila who had jumped into the carriage, tried to help me get on. His hand grabbed my hand which was only a few centimeters away. “Deni, come... Hold my hand!” His voice echoed among the ripples of the carriage moving towards his departure.
In a state that seemed to slow down, I struggled with all my might to reach Dila's hand that was so close yet felt so far away. Every fiber of my muscles trembled, my spirit radiated from within that drained self. Finally, with the last scream, I managed to grab Dila's hand. It feels like a sweet victory, like a miracle among the uncertainties.
Our laughter broke, breaking down the tension that filled the air. We looked at each other with sparkling eyes, understanding how close we were to losing and how great this opportunity was to be together. Through the tired look of our faces, there was happiness that filled our hearts.
