A Poem To Dila

A Poem To Dila
Dusk and Dila

One year did not seem to have passed me and my classmates took advantage of this school holiday by vacationing together with mother and family to the beach, the plan is we want to spend the night on the beach and want to make this year-end holiday special. All my friends agreed to the plan even though there were some people who disagreed as well.

Me, Bintang, Windi, Dila, and Ian were gathered in the hall with the others because the lesson hour was empty at the moment, not only are we in the hall, but there are also my classmates and the neighborhood class children as well.

“That's the car line nge.” I said mocking the Star who had hugged me this morning and entered the car lane.

“Mana cave tau.”

“Eat SIM don't shoot you!”

“Gua shot with you yes.” said the Star while pointing at me and I just replied with a small laugh.

“Morning Desi!” Ian greeted Desi who was sitting with Windi and Dila.

“Iya.” Answer Desi with a face.

“Udah to eat?”

“Basa stale son of a bitch lu Ian, diem.” he said in a loud tone while yelling at Ian.

“Gua is ready for the saran Des, are you ready for daeran?” Ian said to Desi while trying to tease Desi who was from earlier acting indifferent to him.

“Gua every day use negligee ege.”

“Alhamdulilah.” Ian took out a photo from his shirt pocket. “This cave is Des.”

“Apaan?” ask Desi.

“Blue background photo for our wedding book, only last time.”

“Crazy lu. At least have a KTP.” Desi said with a loud tone.

“My future wife.” Ian said with a smile.

“Mouth of your garbage on guard yes Ian.”

Shortly after the school bell rang, echoing throughout the corridor and herding all the students into their respective classrooms, I walked towards my class with Dila, Bintang, and Windi. Once in class, my classmates and I made plans on how to make this year-end holiday special. But I didn't really interfere with how we should make it happen, so it was Hendrik's responsibility and he was my class president at the time. Finally, after a long discussion, the appointed day had arrived, exactly two weeks away, when me and my friends were about to leave for the holidays.

However, one day before departure, a big problem hit my class. The bus we had rented before suddenly could not be used to take us on vacation. The news was immediately conveyed by my friend, asking for help to find a solution together. Immediately, I proposed the idea of renting an emergency vehicle, which was a truck. For me, this option is more realistic than trying to find a rental bus again, because the time left is very limited. Shortly after, my proposal was approved by the classmates, at least we still had a chance to go to the long-awaited beach.

And the day of the departure began all did not expect that we would go to the beach by truck, and I asked the boys to sit in the back as the people watching the others and the people participating were Hendrik, Dicky, Robi, Zahid, Yomi and me, the six of us act as people who maintain security there. Before we left I first met Dila and asked her to sit in front of me, because if it was beside or near me it was a danger because I could not watch over her.

“When you sit in front of me, because if Dila sits in front, Deni can see and enjoy the beautiful smile Dila during the trip.”

Dila smiled as she pulled my hair. “Still tightening.”

With Dila sitting in front, I could watch her better and could also see her smile. Shortly after, the truck started moving at nine in the morning. The weather seems to be poor, the sky is cloudy and gray. Anxiety came over me, worried that we would be caught in the rain all the way and everything would be soaked.

However, during the trip, everyone in the truck sang, laughed, and even joked together. I'm behind trying to document those moments through my phone, to be a great memory after we graduate from High School.

When we finally arrived at the beach, it turned out that my guess about the weather was wrong. Bright sky with stunning blue and clouds that do not accumulate too much. Everything looks perfect, like an atmosphere created by natural wonders alone.

After getting out of the car, we all rushed into the Villa to put down our luggage. I quickly approached Dila to help her carry her not too much stuff, considering our room was on the second floor. After we finished arranging the goods, we were all called to gather in the field for the division of duties and facilitate the implementation of activities there.

We formed three squads namely the Food Buyers team, the firewood finder team, and the food making team.

When the group draw arrived, I felt happy and excited because I was in a team with Dila ya even though Bintang, and Windi was also a team, namely the Firewood Search Squad.

Without hesitation, I clasped Dila's hand without asking permission first, asking her to look for firewood along the beach. Dila was surprised by the sudden and asked in confusion, “Eh uh uh, where are we going?”

Smiling, I walked with Dila's hand in my hand. “We want to find firewood on the beach, it looks like a lot there.”

“Where did you know?” ask Dila, full of curiosity.

“I have never been there, but there is a hunch that near the beach a lot of firewood.” I replied while still walking.

Along our way to the beach, the sound of the wind rustling gently hugged our ears. The sunlight shone on the passing streets, creating a shadow that danced among the trees. We walked carefully, through a forest full of trees.

Suddenly someone called me and Dila. “Oi... You want to leave us?” The stars called out to me and Dila from behind

“You are also one team yes same us?” Dila asked the Star and Windi

Windi went straight to Dila who was with me. “Yes, where are you going?”

“I want to run on the beach, Deni said there like a lot of firewood.”

“Lu emang no other place what for firewood nyari, why should ngikutin cave?”

“Lu don't macem-macem same child person.” Said the Star that was still spying on me.

“Dog lu ya.”

Dila who heard me speaking rudely immediately grabbed my hair. “That's mouth.”

I tried to get that tiny little Dila hand out of my hair. “Hehehe... Yes-yes sorry Dila, end of the face of the Star.”

“You want to join us not the same to find firewood?” Said Dila invites Bintang and Windi to join to more easily find firewood.

“Well, Dila did not come to us, so there is no right for you to ban the cave ngikutin lu.” said Bintang by laughing his song.

“Campret lu.”

“Udah no papa, will more people more quickly finished to his firewood collection.” said Dila while smiling at me.

Me, Dila, Bintang, and Windi have finally arrived at the edge of the beach. Bright atmosphere with bright sunlight and cool breeze makes the beach look so beautiful. Star and Windi went looking for firewood in a different place to us, meanwhile, Dila and I decided to look for hermit crabs around the rock. Unexpectedly, near one of the rocks, I found a beautiful hermit crab. However, as I tried to retrieve it, I slipped and fell into the calm sea water.

I immediately came out of the water and brought the hermit to Dila. When I saw Dila's facial expression as I approached her with the hermit, there was clearly a look of fear in her eyes.

“You're afraid of hermit crabs, Dil?” I asked while trying to recognize his facial expression.

“No, who said I was scared?” he replied in a low tone, while slowly walking backwards away from me.

I can't help but smile. I pulled Dila's hand and tried to put the hermit in her palm. However, before the hermit reached her palm, Dila quickly pulled her hand back, trying to avoid the hermit.

“You scared?” my God while trying to hold back a laugh.

I chuckled as I pulled Dila's hand back and placed the hut in Dila's palm. “Don't be afraid not to bite this really, most just clamping doang. Hehehehe.”

With a slight hesitation, Dila closed her eyes as I again placed the hermit in her palm. “Tuh, look, it's okay right?” I said while telling Dila to look at the hermit that was in her palm.

Dila, who had closed her eyes, slowly opened her eyes and looked towards the hermitage.

“Kok didn't come out?” Said Dila asking me while moving the hermit crabs using the index finger of her hand.

“But in a while also come out, see aja.” I said while looking at the hermit crabs in Dila's palm.

Not long after Dila moved the hermit, the hermit finally came out of his shell and began to creep on Dila's palm. Dila was startled, and reflexively directly threw the hermit and held my body. I tried to hold back the laughter when I saw Dila's startled reaction.

“Sorry-sorry I accidentally.” said Dila while releasing her grip to my body.

I just smiled at Dila. “You why were afraid just now, just now why not come out of his house, eh pas already out even in the dump?”

Dila smiled a little because she had thrown the hermit that I had just caught. “After I was shocked, plus the creeping fit in the palm of my hand was amused, so I reflexed to throw the cage. Hehehehe.”

“Yaudah we return to villa yuk, already want malem.” Take me to Dila to get back to the villa.

“However, Dila called me in a vibrating voice. “Deni.. see it.”

I heard Dila's voice turning over and how beautiful the twilight at the end of the beach was so difficult for me to explain in words, but I could probably summarize it.

Yes, with the wind, the waves, the sunset, and the golden light like every dusk on every beach, of course there are also birds, wet sand, rock silhouettes, and so on, and maybe a boat passed in the distance. I'm sorry, I didn't get to research them one by one.

I stepped towards Dila, left the firewood I had gathered, and clasped her small, soft hand. “Dila..”.

“I want to always be involved with your life, I want to accompany you wherever you go, I want you to be mine and live this beautiful story, she said, I don't want anyone more special than me in your life, and I want to be with you, enjoying every twilight we have in our afternoon. I'm in love with you, Dila.” I murmured inwardly, maybe those were the words I should have expressed back then with my own mouth.

However, with less courage, I could only utter it in my heart.

“Deni... What is it?” Said Dila, calling me from my deep daydream.

I paused for a moment, felt a thumping heartbeat in my chest, then replied gently, but the voice sounded like a lie. “I... I want to see you keep smiling.”

Dila smiled at me. “Without you asking, I will always smile when I am with you.”

That day should have been the beginning of you and I became us, but because I had no courage everything disappeared, like the twilight in front of us that had changed with the night.
