The new semester at my school began, it was nice to meet back with the dark brown classroom, the stuffy class smell and the clean whiteboard of the marker stain make the atmosphere today feel like reborn. Oh yes of course everything is incomplete without your presence Dila to start a new semester and also a new story.
The Monday morning ceremony was held, I stood in the back row while looking for the figure of Dila who should be in the female row beside me, but after I saw the line I did not see Dila at all. During the ceremony I could not focus because I kept looking right and left looking for Dila's presence in the other row but the result was the same.
After the ceremony was over I tried to find Dila in front of the school gate afraid she was late going to school, while walking towards the school gate I saw Windi who had just come out of the teacher's office and I tried asking him.
“Win did you see Dila?” I said while stopping my steps.
“Lu don't know den? It hurts!”
I who heard Windi's words that Dila was sick immediately tried to confirm the words of Windi. “Seriously? Since when did Dila get sick, why did she get sick?”
“Lu want nanya or ngintrogasi cave? one-one napa nanyanya cave so confused to answer which one used to be!” Windi said with an annoyed face because I immediately gave her many questions.
I also breathed. “Sorry-sorry cave to the atmosphere just now.”
“Dila was sick from three days ago, the cave semalem ngechat him he said he was aja ketapean, because commuting from Bogor Tangerang, he said, but he said he was fine at least a few days also back fit again.”
In a state of panic, I moved away from Windi who was trying to hold me back. My intention to visit Dila was so strong that I felt indifferent to my responsibilities as a student. However, Windi kept trying to convince me.
“Lu where are you going? Don't tell me you want to skip class at the beginning of the new semester just to visit Dila.” he exclaimed while holding tightly to my wrist.
I let go of Windi's hand a little harshly, impatient to meet Dila. “What's the reason?” ask me without thinking.
“Lu thought with you coming to see him while sacrificing your responsibilities as a student and skipping subjects, you would be considered cool as him? No, Den... Dila's even gonna ilfil with you. Remember, this is not an ftv story or romance novel that you often read. This is the real world, Den. Love is blind, not stupid.”
Windi's words touched my soul. I took a deep breath to calm myself down, because I realized that he was speaking the truth that was hard to accept. I felt overwhelmed by the reality he revealed. “Still yes Win, on your advice.”
“Cave saying that does not mean the cave does not understand your feelings, precisely because the cave understands your feelings and the cave is also one of lu.” Windi said while hitting my shoulder
“Oh yes, if you want to cool down Dila you can be with the same class children because they also want to cool down Dila.” said Windi as he walked to leave me and walked to class.
The entrance bell rang with a heart-piercing tremor, signaling that the first subjects were about to begin. However, once the teacher who teaches the first lesson enters the classroom, the atmosphere seems to hint that teaching and learning activities will not begin immediately. Maybe because it's the start of a new semester and the first day of entry, the teachers chose to give us a little leeway. My mind is absolutely right. Almost all teachers who come to our classes do not directly continue with learning activities. They are more likely to start by talking and getting to know new students.
Time runs slowly in the middle of an atmosphere that feels heavy. Every minute feels like a clock. I can't stop thinking about Dila and how she is. My mind was filled with worries and curiosity that were hard to contain. However, I was patient, given that there was a predetermined time to visit him.
When the bell rang at 14:45, the class gathered at the door with a hopeful heart. Not only were my classmates preparing to visit Dila, but Desi and Ian also joined in.
I stepped with my heart pounding towards the student motor park. From a distance, I saw Hendrik pulling out his motorbike. Without hesitation, I went straight to him, hoping to cut him down on his bike.
“Drik, cave come to Dila's house same you ya?”
Hendrik turned his head towards me with a not-so-enthusiastic expression. “Dog, cave guess who's coming? Which motor are you?” he shouted in a joking tone.
I smile. “Custom, red again down machine.”
“It can't be helped, yaudah just go up. But later if there is a replay, nyontek cave same you, yes.”
“Lu nyontek cave rework, even lost ege.” reply me while riding to Hendrik motor.
“At least you lost it is not alone.” timpal Hendrik with his trademark smile.
After a long journey, we arrived at Dila's house. I saw the children gathering in the courtyard, as if they were not paying attention to my arrival and Hendrik had just arrived. Only Desi was instantly aware of my presence, and her eyes met mine.
Desi stood at the door with a somewhat annoyed attitude. “The number of people who visit brings fruit or food, you come just bring the body doang. Do you want to cool down or ask for food?” he said with a slightly offensive tone.
I smiled wryly. “At least the cave body is still valuable, Des, if sold.”
Hendrik, who came with me, entered the room without permission and without saying a word to Dila. He went straight to the food that Dila had prepared and began to devour the food that was there.
“Lu yes, when it comes to eating, it is always number one.” Urge Elis while gently hitting Hendrik's shoulder, then sitting in front of him.
“Inget, Lis, said the saying there is nothing more important than eating.” between Hendrik with his mouth still full of food, regardless of the shocked gaze of Elis.
I saw Bintang and Ian playing the PlayStation that belonged to Dila. “Oi, you want to see Dila or play PS?” I scolded while looking at them.
“Bacot lu.” Reply to the Star without turning his gaze away from the screen.
Windi, who saw me standing at the door, tried to throw me out. “Lu want to until when diem in front of the door, ngalang-ngalangin people walk aja?”
After being chased away by Windi, I entered the room and sat down near the wall. I saw that Dila was not there, maybe he was busy preparing food and drinks for the visitors. Not long after, Dila reappeared with a slightly pale face, carrying peeled fruits. I immediately approached him and took out some pieces of fruit from Dila's hand.
“The one who is sick should rest, instead of going back and forth to the kitchen. Here, let me help.” I said with a smile, my eyes focused on Dila's face that exuded fatigue.
“Eh, uh, it's okay. I'm fine and already strong.” try Dila take back the fruits I brought, while showing her muscles and smiling with a slightly pale face.
“Udah Dila you have to rest let me just bring.” While walking carrying the fruit that was brought to the children.
Half an hour passed after I was with the class children to see Dila, and we were ready to go home before I came home I went to Dila to talk to her.
Walking with him to the front porch of his house. “Dila, I'm home yes. You take care of your health do not soy sauce and do not maxain to think of me every day.” I said as I rubbed Dila's head and smiled at her.
Hendrik, who had seen me talking to Dila, grumbled with a face full of annoyance. “Den, you're mulu ngebucin, want to go back no? Otherwise, the cave lives in this?”
“Iya cave there.” My words chimed in on Hendrik's words.
Dila, with a gentle smile and her face still deathly pale, stood straight behind me, as if she was trying to endure the pain. His voice sounded weak but was filled with sincere gratitude. “Den, thank you, same as the others, bother cool me.”
As Dila smiled, I realized that Dila's smile was the source of my happiness. However, I cannot let go of this moment without making him understand how important the role he has played in my life. “It's not free, loh. If you're cured, you'll have to buy me chicken noodles at the cafeteria?” I said, my soft voice trying to describe my sincere hope.
Dila could only smile with warmth. “Ehehehe, be careful ya.” said, his eyes still glued to see me go with Hendrik, leave his house.
Three days have passed since I visited Dila. Dila was back at school. My heart thumped as I watched him sit on his stool, his face shining like it used to. I without hesitation immediately approached him.
“Dila, have you gone?” I asked anxiously, my eyes could not turn away from him. I wonder how he is.
Dila smiled looking at me who was attentive. “Yes, I'm pretty cool, really. And now I've been allowed to go back to school.” he replied in a hopeful voice and relief.
I gently stroked Dila's head. “Remember, Dila, what the doctor said. Keep your diet. You can't eat grasshoppers, tututs, let alone frogs.” I said with a worried tone, trying to protect him from the dangers that might lurk him.
Dila directly hit my stomach lightly. “Deni, ngeselin!” he shouted while trying to show his misery.
“Aduh, this is me I'm sure that you are healthy. You see your punch hurts more than before.” I said while holding my stomach which was just hit by Dila.
“Ya depleted..” Dila turned her body away from me, her expression full of jealousy. “You are mulu.”
I laughed looking at Dila's reddened face and looking sullen. “Thank God, if you can go back to school. For me, without you, school is so boring and no longer has the same appeal.”
Before long the doorbell rang all the class children were sitting in their seats, respectively, Mother who is my homeroom teacher came to my class to make an announcement that for all 11th grade all students must have at least one extracurricular/exculpate for class conditions while giving a paper that reads some of the excrements in my school.
Almost all the boys in my class went to the Pancak Silat because the chairman of the silat at that time was Zahid. Zahid is a fairly mature person among all of us and he is also a very reliable person but unfortunately he is always difficult to be invited to make something that is bad he is a good and honest man. After Mother conveyed the information about the exkul, Mother also resigned to leave my class.
Dila who approached me and took the paper that I had not filled to follow the exkul in school. “You didn't join Den excul?”
I stood up from my seat and walked with Dila to go to the canton. “Ekskulnya on ngebosenin.”
“Emang exckul you want it like how?”
I muttered while holding my chin with my right hand. “Maybe win your heart.” I smiled at him too. And Dila just replied to me with her sweet smile.
After walking for a few minutes Dila and I arrived at the canteen, and immediately went to the cafeteria to order the food I used to eat.
Dila hit me on the shoulder. “Deni si mom is in front too.”
“Oh this canteen mom, kirain who's sorry bu forgot.” I said with a cry.
“Eleh-eleh you yes just also 2 weeks did not meet the Mother had forgotten aja.”
“Bu as usual Her chicken noodles two equal tea pull two.” I said to the cafeteria in front of me.
“Dan as usual, definitely owe ya?” reprimand the canteen mother in a joking tone.
“Eh, Mom, you know. But now the guess is wrong, because now Deni is treated by Dila, Bu.” I said while pointing at Dila with both hands.
The cafeteria mother laughed while making her chicken noodles. “You yes shy mom. This geulis neng should be treated with you, this is even the opposite. Hadeh.” said the canteen mother while shaking her head.
I laughed when I heard the words of the canteen mother. “Udah, diem.” said Dila while stuffing my mouth with a piece of fried food in front of him.
The canteen mom joined in our laughter. “Ahahaha... That's good, neng. Must be in gituin si Deni let diem.” said the canteen's mother while thrusting chicken noodles that have just been made.
“Still yes, Dil, over the fry.” I said while eating the fried food that had stuffed my mouth.
“This same food drink.”
Dila and I went to our usual place to eat, which was on a bench under a tree before long came Desi, Ian, Windi and Bintang
“You are not always ngajak-ngajak start first.” Said the Star while drinking my Tea Pull that Dila just brought a dinner shirt.
“Eh shucks, the drink got a cave.”
“Bentar cave is just minjem doang because the cave is thirsty.”
“Tang for Tang, cave is also thirsty.” Ian said he took my tea from the Star's hand and drank it straight away.
Dila stopped me from trying to reclaim the tea glass from the hands of Star and Ian. “Udah, Den, it's okay.” said Dila with understanding.
“Eh Win tea pull one yes for Deni” said Dila asked Windi to buy tea pull for me.
“Tuh Den you ordered more tea Pull same Dila so this is ours huh no ian?” said the Star while finishing the Tea tug that was mine.
“Ah campsite lu.”
“Eh by the way you guys on what's this ex?” said Windi who returned while bringing food to my table and also the drink that was asked.
“If the same cave Ian follow exkul Rohis.” Desi said as she pointed at Ian.
“If si cave participate Taekondow exkul, the same star Dila participate Pancak Silat.” Windi said to Desi while drinking his order Sweet tea
“Why do you Den?” Said Desi while drinking the sweet tea that he had brought.
“He does not know what to join excul, he said all exculpation is boring.” Dila represents my answer.
“Kan you can play guitar why not join the exkul band aja? Or just follow futsal that you often lacquer?”
“Well you can really join the exkul band even though your voice talent is below average. Ahahaha.” Say the Star while drinking the tug of tea that should be mine and laughing at me.
“Kampret lu.” I said while taking the tea pull that Windi brought for me.
“Most for a while the cave will not follow any exculpation first” said while sipping tea pull it.
The entrance bell rang, echoing in the hallways of the school, calling us to leave the cafeteria and return to our respective classes. Desi and Ian parted ways first because they had different classes with us. Meanwhile, I walked towards the classroom with Windi, Star, and Dila.
“After what subjects?” I asked, trying to figure out the schedule of the next lesson.
“Mathematics. The cave of horrors there is a new teacher who will be taught, he said he was very bored.” replied Bintang while walking beside me.
“Bolos aja yuk. Cave males if taught the same teacher who makes sleepy.” invite me, tempting the Stars to skip Math lessons.
“Gaslah.” replied Star with half-interested expression.
However, Dila and Windi who heard our conversation suddenly looked at me with a grimacing face. “Ehem...” muttered Dila with a sharp voice.
Me and Bintang immediately looked towards Dila and Windi, feeling the tension that had arisen due to their lingering smiles, but it felt creepy. Like they want to say, “If you dare to truant, you will we kill.”
“You want to skip yes?” windi said with a mysterious-looking smile.
I whispered to the Stars, trying to find support in an increasingly cornered state. “Eh, Tang. Gua feels something is not right nih.”
“Truly, the cave also feels that way. How about ege?” the stars clearly feel threatened.
“Do not ask to the cave, the cave also does not know.” I replied with doubt.
Suddenly, Dila and Windi stormed us by squeezing our ears and pulling us into the classroom, preventing us from ditching those subjects.
I tried to defend myself and blamed all this on the Stars. “Eh, Dil, not me who skipped truant, but Bintang.” I said while holding Dila's hand that was still squeezing my ears.
“Eh, you why do you turn on the cave? Lu who ngajak, koplak.” protested the Star while suffering from the actions of Windi who squeezed his ears.
“You two don't have much reason.” said Dila and Windi while looking at us with increasingly creepy looks and smiles.
Bintang and I were forced to take Math lessons even though they didn't want to. Dila and Windi seemed happy to see we had to face the consequences of our actions.
After entering the class, soon the teacher who taught Mathematics came. It seemed boring, and he continued to teach in the same style. We were forced to listen uninspired, facing two hours that felt very long. Finally, the second break bell rang, giving us a little relief from the infinite boredom.
The star saw me in trouble and quickly threw the paper on his head at me. “Oi, still conscious, lu?” yells.
“However, the cave has not been perfectly collected ege.” I said as I lowered my head on the pile of books piled up on my desk.
From a distance, I saw Windi approaching my seat with Dila. “You're still conscious?” tanyakanya.
I waved my hand at Dila. “Dila, please, Deni is not strong.”
“This is for you.” Dila said while giving a bottle of water that she always takes to school.
“Dila... thanks.” I said with a face full of excitement, then took a bottle of drink from Dila's hand and sipped it.
Dila smiled at me. “Where was the lesson?”
“That's it.” I replied briefly.
Then, I stood up from my seat and exited the classroom with Dila who was walking beside my left.
Dila chuckled as she walked in front of me and continued to stare at my face. “Ehehe... Glad to see you're having trouble with maths.”
“You psychopath yes?” I said while trying to distance myself from him.
Dila only smiled after hearing my words. But I don't know why, I feel so scared. Afraid that maybe I was just a supporting character, not the main character in his life. Seeing her being kind to everyone worried me and it always seemed to me that she might treat other people the same way I did.
I'm just a coward who refuses to say that I crave you. Am I the hypocrite? Who acted indifferently but inwardly cried out in need. Or do you choose to be blind? To refuse to say that here I have a taste.
