Zenaya's remorse

Zenaya's remorse
Chapter 10: Making Peace with the Past.

Zenaya is now in the hospital canteen alone. The incident made the girl undo her intention to eat lunch outside. Grace, along with her team, is currently handling Reagents in the operating room, as the man has deep bleeding in his brain.

Zenaya looked dreamy. He was only seen fiddling with his food without intending to put it in his mouth. Until now Zenaya was still reluctant to believe the accidental meeting that had just happened.

For the past ten years, Zenaya had never met the Reagents again. According to reports, after graduating from school the man immediately flew to New York and studied there.

Zenaya pressed her hand against the spoon she was holding. In addition to the anger that returned inflamed to the surface, for some reason, there was something also now that disturbed his mind, to make a rumble present in his chest.

"****, you don't have to pity her fate, Zen!" hard on yourself. As much as possible, Zenaya tried to get the man's face out of his memory. The feeding napsu of the girl is now completely evaporated missing.

Zenaya slammed her cutlery onto the table, then left the place to return to her room. He needs another rush so that the contents of his head are no longer filled with the face of the jerk man.

...***...

Grace comes out of the operating room with John's doctor to see the Reagents' family waiting there.

"Walker family?" call the doctor.

Jennia, Reagen's mother, immediately stood up from her seat, followed by her husband, Craig, and her eldest son, Noah.

"My son, how's my son doing, doc?" jennia asked worriedly. Traces of tears are still very clearly seen wetting the beautiful face of the woman.

"The operation went successfully. The bleeding in his brain was stopped. However, due to the severe impact he experienced, made some of the nerves that connect his right body decreased function" said the doctor explained.

Jennia almost fell if Noah didn't hold her back immediately.

"You don't need to worry, with physiotherapy he will be able to return to activities as usual. Now we'll move him to the ICU for observation." Doctors John and Grace smiled kindly to appease the Reagents. Both of them left the three of them.

Noah gets Jennia back in the chair. "Rey, it's going to be fine, Ma," he said calmly.

Jennia hugged the eldest son, while Craig leaned against the wall and closed his eyes. The middle-aged man never expected, the unfortunate incident happened to his eldest son who had just returned home, after a long life outside alone, he said, while studying and taking care of his family branch company there.

He hopes the child will recover soon. They haven't even hugged their youngest son.

...***...

Zenaya was getting ready to go home when Grace walked into her room, without knocking on the door first.

"Zen," call Grace. His eyes looked at the look on Zenaya's face that looked ordinary.

Zenaya answered the friend's call with a murmur, while wearing his warm coat. The air at night is getting cold. It will not be until one week the first snow will come down to decorate their city.

Grace closed the door to Zenaya's room and leaned there. He took his breath first before starting to speak.

"Hm ...." Again Zenaya only muttered in response to Grace's words.

Grace snorted faintly. "He had just returned from New York, and had an accident while on his way home."

Zenaya. There was not the slightest intention to respond to the ravings of her best friend, although she unconsciously put her two ears together to hear all Grace's explanations.

"The car he was driving in was crushed by a Dump Truck from the side while trying to get ahead of him. The roof of the car rattled up causing his body to be squeezed for a while." Grace paused her words for a moment to see Zenaya's reaction.

"That's what causes him to bleed in the brain, to make the nerves in his right body decreased function. We think this operation will not work, or if it works he will have a long coma. However, the spirit of life turned out to be able to make the man successfully pass through his critical period well." Grace was silent, waiting for the words to come out of Zenaya's mouth.

However, Zenaya was completely reluctant to make a sound. The woman was indeed a little jolted, but she tried to hold back the look of her face to keep it looking ordinary.

"I don't care!" Those words were finally coming out of Zenaya's mouth.

Suddenly silent atmosphere. Grace looked at her best friend deeply, in search of a lie on her pretty face. It is not easy to eliminate pain that has been embedded for so long. What else if the pain was given by a loved one, as Zenaya had experienced. However, Zenaya should no longer need to do that. Moreover, it was because of this that Zenaya closed her heart tightly from the reach of any man.

"Zen." Grace is back.

"I want to go home, Grace." Zenaya stepped up and stopped in front of Grace who was still faithfully leaning against the door of her room.

"You ... don't want to menem–"

"No!" answer Zenaya quickly. The girl knew exactly what Grace was going to say just now.

"He's being observed in the ICU room and he's unconscious." I don't know why Grace wanted Zenaya to know about the man's condition.

"Then?" Zenaya smiled cynically. "It has nothing to do with me, Grace!" keep the girl angry.

"Zen, for God's sake, your story has passed since you graduated from school. It's time to make peace with the past. Your pain brings its own loss, Zen. Look how you live now." Grace no longer bothered to hold back her frustration.

Zenaya widened her smile. "What do you know about my life? Talking is the easiest thing. You'll never know what it's like to live life in the shadow of a jerk who's hurt your heart so deeply!" zenaya shouted for a moment.

Grace gasped when she saw a drop of tears running through her best friend's cheeks. Defense wavers. He let Zenaya barge away leaving the room.

"That's not what I mean" murmured Grace softly.

Zenaya stepped in a hurry while busy wiping away her rough tears that would not stop flowing. There was a speck of disappointment present filling the inner girl. As best friends, Grace should support whatever Zenaya's life choices are, rather than telling her to come to terms with the past.

Zenaya laughed cynically. "Satan is at peace with the past!" rough talk. The long-established hatred for the man will continue to linger in Zenaya's heart, until at any time.

The tears still wet the cheeks of the beautiful girl.
