THE MAFIA'S PENANCE

THE MAFIA'S PENANCE
MY LIFE IN VENICE

Six months later...

Being at my grandmother's house in Venice makes me feel a little better now. Every day lead an ordinary life by taking a walk around the city and enjoying everything without thinking about anything that happened before.

Melissa Bellucci is my grandmother, mother of my mother Elena Bellucci. He was the ruler of the city of Venice, I mean he had a very strong influence on the city I was in.

My grandmother's father was a mobster who controlled the Venetian city's underground economy, Dranheta. My grandmother married my grandfather who was just an ordinary movie star Pedro Bellucci and had a child, my mother. My grandfather died about five years ago. My mother married my father, the biggest and most powerful mobster in Italy, Franco La Nostra.

Because Grandma is the only child of Dranheta so he himself led the gangster organization without being known to lay people. All they knew was that the dynasty of Dranheta was over after the name had no successors.

But in fact it was created so much so that Dranheta who controlled 80 percent of Cocaine traffic in Europe could continue to expand its network throughout the world. What really happened was that Dranheta was the richest mafia syndicate more than La Nostra itself because Dranheta's territory reached the global, and all of that was in the hands of my grandmother who always seemed like an ordinary middle-aged woman.

"Today I'm going to take another walk to the city of Nek." I said as we were having breakfast together at my grandmother's house away from the lively center of Venice.

A simple house in which the courtyard is wider than the building itself. There is no guard around the house but the real houses around the residence grandmother is the houses of the followers of Dranheta.

"One week you're going back to Sicily?" Ask the granny who sat opposite me at the simple dining table.

"Yes, for the verdict of my divorce hearing." I answered after that, eating bolognese spaghetti. "I don't understand why they had to wait six months to decide the divorce."

"Then will you come back here again after the verdict, baby?" Grandma looked at me intently after she finished a cup of warm tea.

"I don't know, but it seems so." My answer. "It's likely that next month I'll be back after Alec's wedding."

"Viv, in trust we marry only once until death picks up. I want all my descendants not to part with their partners after marriage, you know that's also why your sister still isn't married to her fiance." Exciting Grandma. "Marriage is not really a promise between the two brides but their promise to God."

"Yes, and many people cannot keep or fulfill the promises they make even when it comes to dealing with God." My answer is to stand up straight away.

Wearing a simple, knee-length garment with white floppy Hats and matching-colored Floppy Hats, I entered the Venetian city crowd. Even though it is winter, Venice is not so cold now that I choose not to wear winter clothes.

The city is always crowded with many tourists who crowded every corner of the city makes Venice a city that is suitable for me to walk every morning until noon.

Esteban the man Arthur told me to take care of me who accompanied me. Sometimes he walked behind me but when I wanted to be accompanied several times we walked together. He is an 18-year-old boy who basically talks a lot so that being with me sometimes makes me entertained.

"Mrs, tomorrow there's a carnival here, does the madam want to watch?" Esteban asked when we were in the gondola to go somewhere after I got tired of going around.

I just remembered that this month was February, where in Venice there would be a carnival. The entire city of Venice turns into a more magical place during the carnival celebrations in mid-winter. Its flagship events include the Volo dell’Angelo ('the angel ascends into the sky'), as an angel flies in a cable across St. Square. Mark, and the costume parade. Usually people will wear masks and long robes, called tabarro.

"What am I going to wear?" I asked back.

"Mrs take it easy, I'll find you a costume that suits you. The lady must be pretty wearing any costume." Esteban replied speaking like a child his age in general. "I will also look for clothes that are suitable for my thin body."

Hearing her talk made me laugh.

Usually after touring Venice for a while I will only go to the same cafe, Torrefazione Cannaregio, sit in the same place near the window and also order the same coffee every day, namely cappuccino. I would spend one cup of cappuccino for an hour doing nothing and just sit quietly watching outside the window. Esteban would occasionally sit together with me when I asked him to.

"Est, do I have to go to the carnival tomorrow?" I turned to Esteban who was sitting at the bar table while I was at the table by the window.

Esteban's words have always been like that. His tall and thin body does make him always look great wearing any clothes. He was a young man with a bad sense of humor, but I laughed at everything he said. Because of her I was amused when I was in this city.

The next day, it was true that Esteban was looking for me a very amazing costume because it was really a winter costume that covered my entire body. I don't think anyone would have known it was me wearing it, plus I was wearing a mask.

Esteban already wears his costume which does look great for him. But I broke my intention.

"Est, I'm not gonna wear it. I'll just watch." Mouthed

"But I've been looking for a costume that fits the face of the mistress who is always grim." Esteban answered neatly wearing a gold all-round costume and his hand held a mask that he would use later. "But it's fine if the madam doesn't want to."

"I will just watch and take pictures with the carnival participants. You can enjoy your time as a carnival participant in the parade." My speech. "Your costume is really great."

"Mrs don't have to worry while there. No one would dare to approach the madam because they all knew the fierce madam's grandmother."

"I heard it Est." My grandmother sat at the dinner table.

Venice is crowded by a sea of humans who want to watch the carnival. Many people wear unique costumes and masks so that no one will recognize them all.

Esteban who has a friendly nature directly blend into the collection of other carnival participants and some people who watch take pictures. He still acts like a young man his age.

Using a camera phone, I took pictures of people wearing unique costumes. Today I feel colder than yesterday, even though I've been wearing a jacket.

Some people asked for a photo with Esteban, which made the young man seem to enjoy his role in the costume. He would occasionally wave his hand at me who saw him with dance-like movements. His stupid behavior always makes me laugh.

When I was taking a picture of him taking a picture with the person who asked him to take a picture, suddenly someone walked back behind me until he hit me and made my phone fall.

I snorted angrily turning to the person who seemed oblivious to his mistake and immediately walked away. Soon I crouched down to pick up the phone lying on the ground so that no one stepped on it.

But because I was less quick, a costumed man stepped on it and stood right in front of me. It makes me very upset. Immediately I got up to face the costumed man who stepped on my phone because it seemed like he was doing it on purpose. He still stepped on it even though he knew something was under his feet.

My annoyed look led to a costumed person wearing a mask. When viewed from the costume worn and his height is much higher than me, he is a man. But he doesn't seem to know who he's dealing with.

"It seems you don't know who I am." I said very annoyed.

"Nobody doesn't know you, baby. But it seems you don't know me."

Hearing her voice made my heart beat very fast and my heart was twisted for a moment. It was a voice I was very familiar with. Hearing it made me freeze.

The costumed man wearing the mask unlocks his mask. A grin as well as a sharp look emanated on his face.

"I know you'll miss me too. Since there are so many things I have to do, I can only see you now. I'm sorry for taking so long to let you have fun, Viv." Vernon told me he gave me a smile.
