THE MAFIA'S PENANCE

THE MAFIA'S PENANCE
THE WOMAN HE LOVED

I was speechless to Alec's answer by looking at me. But I'm sure if he loves me, what he's saying now is a lie.

"You're wrong to suspect Viv, I've never—"

"No! You love me, I'm sure of it. That's why you kissed me five years ago." Excruciate.

"I don't remember if I ever kissed you." Answer Alec. "You're married, you should know that, Viv."

I moved closer to Alec. "We can mera—"

Suddenly my speech came to a halt when someone pulled my right arm as I wanted to hold Alec's hand. I turned my head and that person was Vernon who was already standing behind me.

"What are you doing here?" Vernon looked at me sharply. "You're hanging around in clothes like this?"

"She just wanted to ask me to bring her doll." Alec's calling to Vernon. "All right, I'll go first."

After Alec left, I walked towards the door to avoid Vernon. But without my guessing, again the man lifted me on his shoulders.

"What are you doing, you idiot?!" I cried very upset while moving my legs thrashing with all my might. "Down me!!"

Right now I don't wear outer pants so anyone will definitely see me because the shirt I'm wearing is interested and shows my underwear.

"Take me off!!" I growled with all my might and jumped down from Vernon.

Fortunately I had breakfast a lot, my strength was fully gathered.

"What are you doing? Why do you like to pick me up, you idiot?!" I looked at Vernon with both hands at his waist.

Vernon just laughed at my frustration. It seems that his intention to make me always upset.

"Change your clothes, we have to go." Vernon said as he walked.

"Where are you? I'm not coming!!" My speech.

Sunday was the day I used to relax at home, there was no way I would go out.

"Honeymoon." Vernon replied, looking at me with a skeptical smile.

"What did you say?" I nodded in surprise.

What is the honeymoon for? This is only for newlyweds who love each other. While us? Hhuft.

"I don't want anything like that!! I don't like you, what—"

Vernon walked back closer to me and directly held my left arm up roughly. His eyes look at me.

"You think I'm going on a honeymoon with you?!" Look at Vernon coldly. "I told you I'd make your life hell. Quickly change your clothes!!"

I followed Vernon's words, immediately changing my clothes. We went somewhere I had never been. A funeral.

Vernon's steps stopped when he arrived at a tomb that looked very well preserved. He stood staring at the tomb after laying the flowers he was carrying.

A name inscribed on the tombstone is Wynetta De Angelis. I am no stranger to that name. I'm sure that the person buried here is the woman Vernon loved. The tattoo on her right rib is the initials of the woman's name with the letter W. What surprised me even more was the date of her death, the date yesterday which was also my birthday and the date of my wedding, and her year written ten years ago.

What concerns me is the woman's name, I'm like I've heard her name. I tried to remember it, but I couldn't remember it.

Suddenly Vernon pulled my right arm violently and his grip was so strong that I felt pain, nothing he said. I know right now he must be very sad. Not long after he let go of my hand and walked away from this place. I followed him from behind while rubbing my reddened arm because of the grasp of his hand.

In the car Vernon was silent, I kept looking at him sitting to my right in the back seat. I know he is holding back his emotional sadness because from his gaze it is obvious that he is very sad now.

Now I'm wondering what caused that woman named Wynetta to die, yes even though my brother Arthur killed her but I want to know why and how Arthur killed that woman.

There's no way that I'm asking Vernon directly, and it doesn't seem like I'm going to ask Arthur either because he won't answer. Although he always loved me but he never once answered questions that are not my business.

"Stop the car." Vernon and the car stopped. "Take him home."

"Where are you going?" My toot.

Vernon did not answer, and got out of the car. I looked at Vernon from the car even though the car had driven back. Vernon was seen contacting someone with his cell phone.

When the car that took me entered the yard, Alec passed by the car that walked out. Alec and Olivia were in the car. I see how Olivia looks happy right now. I feel so jealous to see them.

I'm pretty sure Alec loves me even though he denied it. It must be because there's Vernon behind me that's why he denies it. I can understand his attitude.

"Happiness in my life is over, Ses." I told my best friend on the phone.

Right now I'm in Vernon's room which is also my room right now. Lying on her bed relaxed because Vernon was not home so I could relax at this time.

"Yes, marriage is the beginning of a woman's destruction." Sesya's reply made me even more upset. "Therefore I shall never marry."

"I envy you." My speech. "But at least I don't need to finish my college."

Sesya laughed at him, because she knew how I was so reluctant to attend college that I often applied for college leave and now I am still in the second tier with Sesya even though we are 24 years old. Yes, we often go on college leave because we want to have fun by always vacationing in several countries, enjoying our youth. We are both women who love freedom.

"Then I'll get married too lest I continue my studies like you." Sesya said with laughter. "Who am I going to marry? It's too hard if I have to choose from my five girlfriends."

"Married them all at once." My misery.

After ending the call with Sesya I went down to bed and went around the room. I looked at every corner of the room. There is nothing special about this room. Not much different from Arthur's room.

I started to go into the clothes room that I went into this morning. I'm looking at every corner of the room right now. Yeah, looks the same as my brother's clothes. Their style of dress is also almost the same, dominant in black or other dark colors. Nothing interesting.

My eyes were fixed on a small cupboard hanging at the very corner. I'm sure it's not a wardrobe because it's not too big. Chances are it's a closet for storing ties or belts. I casually opened the closet door.

It turned out that my guess was wrong, the one in the closet was a large figura of a beautiful woman with brown curly hair and green eyeballs. I've seen that woman.

"She was that woman, the woman she loved, Wynetta De Angelis." I was surprised to remember something after seeing the photo in the figura.
