Chapter 08: Getting Out of the Forest

Under the night sky, in front of a warming bonfire, Elric and Namira must settle for their fruit-filled dinner.

After listening to Namira's explanation, Elric was able to conclude that witches were divided into two groups, first being witches who made contact with demons, usually they get books to open the gates where they are and as many lives are sacrificed then their power will get stronger, just like the magicians Elric and Namira encountered in the previous city.

The second is a witch who can open their own mana gate even though in the end the demon particles also enter their bodies to turn them into a terrible figure.

One question Elric could think of was just how could the figure of the witch open which gate without the help of spirits? Did they cancel the contract when the gate opened? Or maybe there's something else.

If the body of a living being is the gate while the spirit is the key, these two factors are the factors one can use force.

All of those questions could not be answered by the two of them since they were both not contractors. On the other hand there was still something they had to finish first.

"What do you think of The Little Apple Garden?" ask Namira.

"From the words I can conclude that it could refer to a place or a thing."

"A place with a name like that I've never found, but if what's the name is too long."

Elric said after thinking about it for a while in his head.

"If the word is cut then we'll get Little to represent the small, Apple to apple fruit and the Garden to a garden."

"In other words a small garden of apples," Namira asserted.

"Truely, we just have to find a place like that."

"So, let's ask that to everyone we meet?"

"I think it's a bad idea, we better secretly investigate it, however the words come from the witch of greed, I'm sure it's not something good."

Namira let out a slow sigh and laid her body to the ground after shouting for a while.

"That pig is very dangerous, isn't it better we return it to where it came from?"

"And to miss the great adventure, it's impossible."

"You're a crazy person on an adventure."

"Heh.heh."

Elric could only squint at Namira who was already sleeping without a burden. From the beginning the body of the greedy witch Alina has been the target of everyone it is clear both will be the target of attack, Alina, before that Elric must be able to tie a contract with one spirit so that he can defend himself even protecting the small body he sees now.

Elric sighed softly and laid his body to sleep.

The world is terrible, even so I think it's a fortune to meet a girl like Namira.

The next morning Elric and Namira resumed their journey. Elric walked in front to open the road while Namira at the back seemed to complain about something.

"I want to eat meat."

"Well, it's not for that reason that they gave you the money" Elric lightly replied until they finally came out of the forest and saw a city in the middle of a green meadow.
