"You're finally here." Katherine frowned when Rose and I arrived at the meeting place.

“Sorry about that, captain. The class was more than we expected. ” Rose apologizes while smiling.

Katherine looked at us with a frown before nodding. Now that everyone was here, he opened his mouth.

"As you know, I'll be the leader of this team. You've heard the principal's orders. Our job is to patrol the campus and try to find something suspicious. Are you clear?"

The four people in our group were Katherine, Rose, Iris, and me. Two from the student guard, and two from the student council. Katherine was the leader of the student guard, so she was chosen as our leader.

"Captain, how are we gonna do this?" Rose asked.

“I think we better split up. Each chose a zone to patrol so we covered more territory. What say?"

Iris and Rose agreed, but I shook my head. “I think it's better if we form a group consisting of two people.”

"Huh? Why?" ask Katherine.

“Well, if we are attacked, two people can react more effectively. Plus, even if one of us is attacked, the other can help him.” Of course, I have other reasons besides that.

Katherine looked at me with a frown and thought about it, but in the end, she nodded.

Even though he dislikes me, he knows this is not the time to let his personal thoughts influence his decision. My proposal made sense, so he accepted it.

I have to admit that Katherine is quite capable and stoic. Other people his age would reject my opinion just because of our differences, without considering whether my opinion was the best choice or not.

The group was decided quickly. Katherine and Rose are in one team and Iris and I are in another. According to Katherine, she was used to working with Rose at the student guard, and Iris and I worked together at OSIS, so this was the best way to distribute the group.

I'm quite happy with that decision. I was waiting for a chance to be alone with Iris, and it was perfect.

Rose, on the other hand, looked at me with disappointment.

“... I want to cooperate with you.” She's pouting.

I looked at the hero with curiosity. "Why?"

When he asked who I was, I told him that I was a prince.

Iris was getting very excited. She told me that she had come to meet her future husband, the prince. And told me that she would be my bride.

But when he returned to the palace, he realized that I was not the prince he was going to marry.

“... I cried a lot that night, you know. Dad even got angry and scolded me.” Iris confessed.

“Is that?” I tilted my head. “Well, not many noble daughters have the right to choose her husband.”

Iris nodded. "… You are right. But I'd love it if….. No, no.”

I stared right into Iris' brown eyes and smiled.

Iris slightly flushed. He turned his gaze to the side and accelerated his pace. I smiled and followed him.

At that moment, a strange sound came from a building near us.

Iris and I looked at each other with shocked expressions. Then, we looked at the building where the sound was coming from.

It was one of the few abandoned buildings in the institute.
