“Thank you very much, Mrs Lluvia.” I smiled thankfully after receiving a cup of coffee.
"Don't worry about that, at least that's what I can do for you." Ms. Lluvia said and sat across from me holding a cup of coffee in her hand. “Again, it's not every day you're here, so I should try to be a good host now.”
I smiled and sipped coffee.
After leaving the gang, I did not immediately return to the institute. Instead, I decided to pay a visit to Lluvia's house. It's been a long time since I last came, so it's time to come again.
It's dawn, but Mrs. Lluvia may have woken up. Lady Lluvia was a very hardworking woman, so she woke up early every morning and slept late at night.
And as I expected, Miss Lluvia was already awake when I arrived.
Mrs Lluvia is very understanding. He didn't ask me why I arrived at dawn or where I was last week. Instead, he accepted me kindly and even offered me a cup of coffee.
After that, we started chatting about various topics. Madame Lluvia talked about the recent events in the capital while I heard it. I tried to use this opportunity to rest and relax my body. I just faced a god after all, so my body is still a bit tense.
“Should I say, Clark, I kind of admire you. You are very young but you are independent. Besides, you look like a very hardworking young man. Right now, very few young men are so hardworking as you.”
“you flatter me, Mrs Lluvia. I was forced by circumstances. If I wasn't forced to leave my house, I would probably party every day like most young nobles.”
“That's not flattery.I'm not stupid enough not to know that even if you're a genius, you have to work very hard to reach your cultivation at your age. I heard that the captain of the imperial guards is only at the eighth layer. You are much younger than him, but your strength has reached the seventh layer, only one layer below. ”
"i'm lucky." I smiled humbly, which made Mrs. Lluvia rolled her eyes. “I wish I was as lucky as you were then. Huh, compared to you, the men in this house.. Sigh.”.
"Did something happen?"
Lluvia hesitated for a moment before sighing and deciding to talk about it. “You know my son works as a guard in a nearby town, right? Apparently, he was wrapped up in a huge gambling debt there.”
"But gambling?"
Lluvia nodded disappointedly. "Like a father like a son. Both are the same.”
I can only smile wryly. Lluvia's mother had always fought with her husband due to his gambling addiction, but now, she learned that her son was the same as her father.
“Clarice destroyed. She hasn't left her room in two days.”
I'm nodding. “Sorry about that.”
"Why? It wasn't your fault. Actually, I should thank you. The money you gave us for the room was very helpful to our situation.”
I smile. “I'm happy then.”
We continued the conversation and Ms. Lluvia offered to prepare breakfast for me. I had to go to class later, so I accepted her offer gladly.
While she was cooking, someone knocked on the door.
Madame Lluvia looked at the door and sighed. He then walked towards her with a complicated expression.
Two men were waiting outside the door. One was her drunk husband, and the other was a serious-looking young man carrying her.
Lluvia furrowed her brows. "What are you doing here?"
“This is not the first time I've come, Ms. Lluvia. You already know the reason.”
Lluvia's face darkened. "How much?" She asked.
“700 gold coins.”
Lluvia's expression changed. "Are you robbing me !?" He growled furiously. "700 hundred gold coins is too many!"
The man remains unexpressive. “Your husband is the one who gambles and loses. Now he has to pay.”
"I'm not going to pay all that money!"
The man frowned. “We never lose money, Mrs Lluvia. If your husband owes us, then he has to pay! With gold or with blood!”
All the blood drained from Lluvia's face. The meaning behind the man's words was clear. If they don't pay, Peter will die!
Lluvia pale. Despite her many flaws, Peter is her husband. He couldn't let her die like that.
Lluvia bit her lip. “... Please give me a few days to collect that money.”
The man frowned. He looked at the drunk Peter and threw him to the ground. Peter didn't wake up despite that. He was probably too drunk to feel anything.
"One week." The man said coldly. "If you don't have money one week later, face the consequences!"
Lluvia nodded with a frightened expression. The man looked at her and nodded. He then kicked Peter away and sneered before leaving.
“Remember, Mrs Lluvia. Seven days."
Lluvia simply bit her lips and fell silent.
When the man left, I sighed and walked towards him.
"Are you okay?"
Lluvia forced a smile. “... Sorry, I showed you something unpleasant to see.”
I shook my head. “Every family has problems. I'm no one to judge yours.”
Lluvia smiled bitterly. She then looked at her husband before looking at me with an apologetic look. "Clark, can you help me get Peter to my room."
I sighed and nodded reluctantly. Of course, I didn't bring it. Instead, I lifted her neck and dragged her into the room.
Lluvia wanted to say something, but she shook her head after recalling the huge debt they had now. She even felt a little refreshed seeing her husband being treated that way.
She was clearly dissatisfied with her husband.
