The cold entered the open windows, and the sound of Lorr En's deep sleep was stirring. The blanket wrapped around his body was not sleeping well enough.
’It's morning!’
Between conscious and unconscious, the exclamations were repeatedly evoked through Lorr En's ears. But he didn't budge, even if someone took out his blanket.
Brprr!
The cold weather was getting inside, making Lorr En's body more curled up.
“Like shrimp! Wakes up. It's morning!” It sounded, Taja's voice had already stirred up Lorr En.
Lorr En wriggled lazily, slowly his heavy eyelids looking at Taja from earlier beside him.
“You are the last and hardest to wake up to! In the Ruthian River, who can't wait to wake you up?” Taja bit of a nag.
“On the river Ruthian no one ever woke me up until .. I woke up myself ... after sleeping a day all night ...,” Lorr En kind of messed up.
”This is not Ruthian. Wake up!” Taja shook Lorr En's shoulder again.
”Still dark ... I'm still sleepy,” Lorr En's voice is tired mixed lazily, then back to close my eyes.
“Hey, don't sleep anymore! Come on wake up!” Taja pulled the foot of Lorr En.
“Now it's 5 o'clock, soon gong at 6 o'clock reads! Wake up!” Tilant
forced him to rise, but he was not successful. Apparently Lorr Entak cared and his eyes remained tightly closed even though half of his body was out of bed.
“Fuh ..!“ Taja overwhelmed, “Alright then, I will leave you here. It's up to you to wake up anytime.”
No more words, Taja left the room. He stepped along the corridor in the morning blind. Not yet through the corner, Lorr En's cry called out to him. Taja turned his head, the figure of his friend appeared from the door of the room while shouting, “Taja, wait for me!!”
Even the afternoon is approaching.
The classroom of the weapon assembly practice looked calm. 150 students were concentrating on assembling arrows from bamboo sticks and iron plates.
Taja and Lorr En are on their respective tables, one table with the other separated by a chest-topped wooden wall. The day's activities were still going well. Some students are honing the ends of the iron cylinder connection, some are sharpening the arrowhead, the rest are still in the stage of skinning the bamboo base.
From his place, Taja noticed Lorr En's movements in his work.
“The base of the bamboo needs you to peel again, after that try to connect it with the metal cylinder ...,” it gives a little hint to Lorr En. But it actually makes Lorr En wrong to see the arrow of Taja is almost so.
“Sabarlah, Lorr. Don't panic! Just do as I say, hone again the base and then connect with the cylinder and combine with the arrowhead, then will be a whole arrow unity,” repeat Taja more detail while showing the arrow is almost finished.
“Good,” Lorr En do gradually as Taja says. His smile expanded when he managed to fuse the bamboo with the shell.
“Thank you,” said Lorr En and continued the next stage.
Suddenly the calm atmosphere turned rowdy, dozens of students scattered from their respective places towards the edge of the classroom balcony. A moment later they shouted at each other, “Horses! Horse racing!!”
Next, dozens of disciples followed and pushed each other. In just a short time, the weapons assembly class balcony on the 3rd floor became laden with pupils.
“Si Tiny in the forefront!!!” some shouted among the crowd of disciples lined up there.
Taja and Lorr En who were left in the classroom became curious as to what was going on that could attract the attention of the students, “What's outside?”
Lorr En shook his head, trailing behind him. And in an instant, the students of the entire class moved to the edge of the balcony.
Apparently, just below the balcony is a race track passed by a group of students of the healer riding. Taja and Lorr En were surprised to see one in the leading order was Purwa.
“Faster! Faster, Purwa!” the screams of the two children mingled with the cheers of the crowd of disciples exclaiming similarly. Not just on the balcony of that class, but a row of other balconies along the right left of the track. The shadow of dozens of horses darted further and further away, but all the disciples still had not stopped watching the free show that had suddenly passed by. To the extent that they forgot the practical tasks of the day.
Brak!!!
The door opened hard, a teacher came and shouted,
“Back to table each! Fast!” realizing Ki Gandhana looked angry, the students of the entire class immediately stormed to their original place.
“No discipline! Embarrassment!” he snapped while glaring at all the disciples.
Ki Gandhana, Tanapura's teacher in the field of weapons subjects as well as Kancil's homeroom teacher is one of the teachers who is quiet but characteristically quite hard and very prioritizing discipline. In the past, he was an admiral in the northern waters, but since his right hand was deformed, he was transferred as a teacher. His skill in assembling the most advanced weapons to create secret weapons made him survive in Tanapura.
The class was silent again, no one spoke. For a moment Ki Gandhana passed by, “Time is up, please leave this room in an orderly and rowdy manner!” he said he surprised all the students. Because some of them have not completed the task.
Because once the order is not enough, Ki Gandhana shouted even louder once again, “Leave the results of your work on each table and do not forget to give a name! Now!”
Heavyhearted and forced, done or not, finally the students left the class without rowdy.
“Except both of you!” ki Gandhana's orders, before Taja and Lorr En had moved from their respective desks.
”Show your work?” ask Ki Gandhana while looking at their respective desks, ”Bring here!” he added.
Taja and Lorr En handed over their respective arrows. Ki Gandhana did not dispute their work. More than that, there was something else he wanted to convey to these two disciples.
”If in one year your value totals at least 40 black values or 250 points, then you will go up to the Red Census class. Add 40 more black values or 500 points will be raised to the Black Shank class. Then the next 40 black grades will be raised to the Goose class, then the Eagle class, the Lion class, until the highest grade is the Dragon class, and there are three team levels for each class, white, white, red and black,” said Ki Gandhana briefly explained about the ascension system at Tanapura School.
