The charm of Mr. De Luca

The charm of Mr. De Luca
Vantarsi

Time has shown past midnight. But Matteo was still awake at the time. He repeatedly let out restless breaths while pacing and occasionally rubbing his hair. Matteo looked very upset waiting for news from Adriano.

At around two o'clock in the evening, the man who is now in Monaco called Matteo. Without much ado, Adriano went straight to the heart of the conversation he was about to deliver to Matteo. "It's over, Mr. de Luca. You can sleep well tonight," Adriano reports, giving Matteo a slight respite.

"Really?" ask Matteo. The gray-eyed man was still a little doubtful.

"Yes, Mr. de Luca. The pilot and cabin crew have landed safely, as well as your 'uncle. Be thankful that our plan worked out perfectly" Adriano assured Matteo. His tone sounded very satisfied.

"Yes, thank goodness then. Thank you for all the help, Mr. D'Angelo. I really appreciate everything you've done" replied Matteo again. He had never spoken in such a delicate tone to Adriano.

"No problem, Mr. de Luca. You already know my reason. Anyway, it's nice to be able to work with you. I hope we can make good friends and forget all the misunderstandings that have happened" Adriano said from across the street.

"Yes, sure," replied Matteo briefly. A moment later, Matteo ended his conversation on the phone. He immediately contacted Zucca who was assigned to leave for Elba Island. Matteo ordered the tall man to bring his men. Their goal there was nothing else to dismantle Antonio's tomb. After sending the message, Matteo immediately moved from the workspace. He rushed to the room. Matteo doesn't want Mia to wake up and not find herself there.

When he entered the room, he saw Mia still sound asleep. The man immediately took off the shoes and the T Shirt he was wearing. The man climbed onto the bed and began to break down.

For a moment, Matteo stared at the ceiling of the room in a dim atmosphere. He thought about his life. Matteo then tilted his body and faced Mia who was still asleep. The face of Mia. The woman still looks beautiful even though she is asleep. "I promise you, Mia. My partnership with D'Angelo will be my last. Once this is done, then we will start a new life as you wish" Matteo murmured softly. He continued to look at the face of the wife, until finally the man fell asleep without him knowing.

......................

The next day, Matteo again makes an appointment to meet with detective Ranieri. It just so happened that the detective was on the spot, so Matteo decided to go straight to see him. Accompanied by Marco, Matteo went there. Upon arrival at the detective's office, Matteo and Marco are warmly welcomed.

"How about, Mr. de Luca. Has there been any word from Mr Antonio?" ask Detective Ranieri. The man looked very enthusiastic. However, another case with the expression shown by Matteo and Marco. They are seen putting on a sad face, especially Marco. The man suddenly bowed while covering his eyes with his left palm.

Seeing the attitude shown by Marco, Detective Ranieri instantly fell silent. The man watched him for a moment, especially when Matteo rubbed his cousin's shoulder. "What's up, Mr de Luca? What's going on?" asked the man curiously. He began to feel something was wrong.

Matteo let out a long breath and flung it down slowly. There seemed to be a great burden in the look of his beautiful face. Not long after, the gray-eyed man said, "Look, Mr. Detective," Matteo began his explanation. "Night, I got a call from a colleague, Mr. Adriano D'Angelo. He was the owner of the plane carrying my uncle from America" Matteo explained. He then fell silent for a moment.

"Then?" Detective Ranieri looks increasingly curious.

"He reported that the plane crashed while crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Right now, officers are looking for a coordinate point where exactly the plane crashed" Matteo said. His acting looks very convincing, making the detective seem so flabbergasted by it.

Detective Ranieri doesn't know what to say. The man looked confused. Moments later, a short complaint slid from his lips. He was so sorry for everything he heard from Matteo.

"He should have stayed in America only if I knew it would be like this" Marco sobbed softly lamenting the charade they were doing.

"Already, Marc. Who can guess God's destiny" Matteo said. "I'm also very sorry about this" Matteo said later.

"Yes, Mr. de Luca is right" Detective Ranieri said, returning Matteo's phone. "So, what are you going to do after this?"

"We'll wait for a few days until the search is done. Once there is certainty, of course we have to pay our last respects to my uncle. Not that I expected a no-no, but given my uncle's still-weak condition and the approximate position of the plane had an accident," matteo said still showing a face full of regret.

Detective Ranieri. It seemed like he could understand all of Matteo's explanations. He must also start looking for other steps, in uncovering cases that he has not been able to solve. Antonio who became his hope, now whether he can still rely or not. However, if he heard from Matteo's narration, he seemed to agree with the thoughts of the leader of the Clan de Luca.

"To be honest, I am very disappointed and regret this incident. However, as Mr. de Luca said earlier 'who can guess God's destiny', I think ...." Detective Ranieri puffed his breath in complaint. He can't say anything more. The atmosphere was silent for a moment, before Matteo and Marco decided to say goodbye because there was nothing else they had to discuss with Detective Ranieri. The detective invited them to leave.

"It's ridiculous" Marco said after they were in the car. The man smiled a little.

"I had to brag a lot because of this problem" replied Matteo as he turned on the engine of his vehicle. A moment later, the black jeep drove off and left Detective Ranieri's office.

"So, what's your plan now?" ask Marco.

"I've ordered Zucca and some of his men to go to Elba Island. They're going to dismantle your father's grave and bring his bones to the Casa de Luca. We'll wait a few days until the search is stopped. Only then will I hold a final tribute to your father, burying all his precious memories. Of course with the bones," explained Matteo. He turned to Marco for a moment before refocusing on his wheel.

"I thank you for being willing to pay my last respects to my late father" Marco said softly. However, Matteo did not respond to the man's remarks. He continued to focus on the road he was walking on. Matteo also seemed to be thinking of something back then. The silent atmosphere was present for a while.

"When are you going to start fulfilling Mr. D'Angelo's gun orders?" marco asked again after they both fell silent.

"Fastly," Matteo replied immediately. "I want to finish the order immediately, because I already have big plans after."

"May I know what it is?" marco asked curiously.

"I'll tell you later when the time comes," replied Matteo flatly.
