Second Road

Second Road
Episode 2: the little thief

Nine o'clock in the morning. Today was bright, as if the sun was happy to see me walking under it. As my grandfather promised, we would go to the barbershop and cut my hair that had begun to long.

I was told to wear brown trousers and a shirt patterned in a red box. This shirt looks a little too big for me, but I can still roll my arms a little.

grandpa took out his black car from the garage. Actually, he said he wanted to walk, but I feel sorry for his waist that often hurts.

I thought it was common for a 58-year-old man to be not too old, but still he rarely exercised and preferred to shut himself up and sit in the lab all day. That's why exercise is so important, or if not, you should feel pain in your waist and joints.

"Alright, Haru" said the grandfather as he pressed the horn once. I immediately opened the car door and sat right next to him.

I was happy to finally be able to go out for a moment and see the outside world.I never thought I would be this lucky.I remember the first time I met grandfather.

Three months ago...

maybe this is my last day, maybe I shouldn't mess up there, stupid me...

I kept walking while holding my stomach that was sick from hunger, I had not eaten for two days, and my last meal was just a piece of bread shared by some benefactors on the streets of the city.

my body also hurts all, there are a lot of bruises and abrasions. My head hurts and my body feels hot. I also have not taken a shower for a long time. my clothes are shabby and torn here and there. I walk around here and there without wearing footwear.

when I was almost desperate, I found a small glimmer of hope to live in. I found a nice house that seemed too lonely.

I think the house was hard for the owner to leave because the fence just opened and the grass in the yard was very long.

a chance !?

without a second thought, I just threw my dirty feet onto the porch of the house, and luckily the door was unlocked.

is this a good sign for me?

without a doubt, I went further. there was no one inside, but the furniture was still very nice even though there was a lot of dust stuck here and there.

should I get out of here now? it's very rude to just walk into people's homes, but there's nobody.

I was confused by the stupid question I was asking myself. This pain made me unable to think logically.

the food...

first I have to find food.

I continued to browse the house and managed to find a kitchen. There was a two-door refrigerator on display in the corner of the room.

immediately, I pulled the door of the fridge. There was no food to eat. only the rest of the rotten fruit and frozen meat that had been attached to the frezer.

it seemed like luck was still not on my side.I looked around again, there was a small wooden cupboard beside the sink. Without waiting, I went up to him and found a loaf of bread that the wrapper had been opened, it was open, but it doesn't matter because it can still be eaten.

the pain in my stomach was a little treated, but if there was food that had been opened like that, shouldn't there be someone living here? stupidly me, I had to get out of here quickly, before someone caught me and beat me for stealing and going in silent.

I tried to find the door I passed earlier, but unfortunately never met. My head hurts more. Why should it be now?

I kept looking for the exit, but the pain running through my head was getting more unbearable. My eyes became very heavy and could not be invited to cooperate, I lost consciousness near an old couch.

***

I tried to open my eyes that were still a little heavy. My head still hurt.I was still inside this house, right near the old sofa.

huf...

I breathed a sigh of relief.I thought I was caught by the owner of this house or the worst possibility I'm dead.but apparently not. luck is still on my side.

now I just have to get out of this house and leave, as if nothing had ever happened.I walked slowly towards the door, but strange.the door could not be opened. Is someone here?

fate was playing tricks on me apparently, annoying.there was the sound of footsteps approaching, I immediately hid behind the sofa.

Then came the figure of a man who seemed to be aged, a grandfather?

"i thought there was a voice, but it seemed to be just my feeling." I heard the old man muttering to himself, then left.

finish my history, grandfather was quite large and tall. Taking care of a little thief like me is not a difficult thing for him.

I had to find a safer hiding place without the old man knowing where he was now, but it seemed like I would be safe for now.

the hiding place I chose was a large wardrobe in a bedroom.I went inside and kept quiet, while waiting for this grandfather to go out of the house and open the door.

Three days later...

why doesn't this grandpa go out and open the door? I'm starting to have a hard time being in this closet.

I can still steal bread from the cupboard for a few days every night, but it can't seem to go on like this.

I'm hungry, I have to steal more food into the kitchen. I've been in the category of bad people. I steal someone else's property. wouldn't that include crime? I won't deny it. I'm a naughty little crook. My mom wouldn't be happy to know this.

quickly, I moved to the kitchen and returned to the cupboard with two loaves of fresh bread.I quickly finished both.

I'm breaking down, my head is still hurting and lately it's getting so, I don't think I'll be able to live any more after this.

the more I thought about it, the more the pain peaked, not only that, my body became hotter every night.

no. no. No..

there were sounds of footsteps approaching. Was I seen by him when I took the bread? Stupid me, I should have been more careful.

As the saying goes, rice has become porridge. Maybe that's a sentence that can describe my current situation. I wish I had never come here in the first place. If only I had never run away from that place. If only...

clack...

his closet door opened slowly, this was the end of my life.the man seemed like he was going to find me.
