Second Road

Second Road
Episode 19: Because of the pudding

This afternoon the weather was quite hot, but the sky was cloudy this morning. The thick clouds covering the sunlight had already gone out of nowhere.

After changing clothes, I went to the kitchen and checked the fridge. There's usually a pudding I eat after school. In spirit, I ran a small run and opened the fridge.

But the pudding doesn't exist. Strange, but yesterday there were still some cup pudding that was just bought by my grandfather for me.

I searched the fridge and searched every cupboard in the kitchen. Who knows if the pudding was placed somewhere else.

"What are you looking for?"

Allen who appeared from behind the door looked at me in wonder.

"My tent." I said short, and I kept looking for him.

"What chocolate pudding is in the fridge?" Said again.

"Yes, did you see him?" I stopped looking and approached him.

"Actually, I've eaten everything." He said while grinning.

"Everything?" I went back to making sure.

Allen nodded, then I went to my room feeling super annoyed. Whynot? He ate my pudding, my favorite pudding.

It sucks...

Why did he eat it? Pudding is for me. Grandpa always gave me pudding after a meal or for an afternoon snack. Why did he even eat?

Huh...

My precious pudding....

I finally decided to read it in the living room. I just borrowed a book in the school library and I want to read it right away. This calm atmosphere made me comfortable to sit for a long time.

After reading two pages, Allen came and sat down next to me. He turned on the television and leaned against the back of the sofa.

I stood up to leave him. His presence makes me unable to concentrate. And the sound of the television was disturbing as well.

After that, I went to the kitchen to get some water. One full glass was gone once drank, I was really thirsty. Allen took the water. Why does he seem to be following me?

I went back and chose to stay in the room. My bedroom door was locked from the inside so I could calmly read the book.

"Hey...Haru, why is the door locked." He knocked on my door from outside.

"Let's open! I'm gonna go get my bag inside." Said again.

I looked at the area around the room and it turned out to be true, the bag was in my room. The bag was big and it seemed quite heavy. I opened my bedroom door and let him take his bag.

"Allen, when you're done, get out." Saying to him.

"You kicked me out? You don't have any cute cute. I told you to call me brother. I'm older than you, why don't you understand that too?" He was holding his big bag.

"You're a bitch." I said while puffing my cheeks.

He finally came out too. I closed the door and went back to reading.

About ten minutes later, it rained down from the sky. The weather was so hot. Why did it rain? But never mind, it's okay.

The weather is very easy to change, the morning is cloudy, the afternoon is sunny and when the afternoon is even heavy rain. Like human feelings, always change unpredictably.

At first it sucks, then it's funny and maybe later even so very good. Such is the human heart, like the weather.

It's seven o'clock at night. Maybe it's time to go out and have dinner. I miss grandpa's cooking. He still hasn't returned from his friend's place. If it's not wrong, Grandpa will stay for a week.

When only two days old Grandpa left, I missed him. Usually he rubs my head all the time, makes me milk and also buys me snacks. I really miss.

The dining room is empty. There was no food on the table. I went around the house looking for Allen. Shouldn't she be cooking for dinner in place of grandpa? He's not anywhere.

Ten minutes later, someone knocked on the front door of the house. Could it be grandpa? Or Allen? Anyone is no problem.

I opened the door, and sure enough, Allen stood there carrying a cardboard and some plastic bags.

His body was wet from the heavy rain which had not stopped since this afternoon. From head to toe, all were filled with water droplets.

He went in and put the cardboard he was carrying on the floor. The cardboard was opened wide with bare hands.

I who just stood quietly watching him was immediately shocked when I saw the contents of the cardboard. It was full of chocolate pudding, just like I used to eat.

"It's all for you, sorry I ate all your pudding this afternoon. You're avoiding me for that, aren't you?" Her speech.

His voice is a little shaky. Maybe he was cold, his body was filled with water. He was really not sane, reckless to go through such heavy rain. I can't say the word see her.

"You can eat it all. It's hard to find it in some stores, but I managed to get a full dus for you." He said, forcing a smile.

"For dinner, I've bought something at a fast food restaurant. Tonight we'll eat this." Said again.

He handed me the plastic bag he had brought. I accepted.

"I'll get changed, please move the dinner to the plate." He passed by, leaving me who was still full of question marks.

I move food into the plate. He bought food that looked foreign to me. It is shaped like a sausage and is full of red spices. Looks spicy.

I sat down and waited for Allen. He arrived five minutes later after changing into a dress. He pulled out one of the chairs and sat there.

"Good meal..."

I plucked the food with a fork and put it in my mouth. It was okay at first, after a while, the taste of the spice got stronger and my mouth was burning.

"Soof..."

I said as I reached for some water and immediately drank as much. Why so spicy? Who can bear to eat food like this?

"You don't like spicy food?" Ask Allen.

I'm shaking. Allen ate it. He swallowed it as if it felt fine, but it didn't apply to me.

"What's his name? Why so spicy?" I said while wiping my eyes. Yes, my tears came out so hard.

"Tteokbokki, haven't eaten it yet?" I'm nodding. My tongue is still burning. I can't eat it.

"I'll cook another one." Allen got up from his chair.

"No, I want to eat bread." I said as I got up from the chair.

Next morning...

I woke up from my deep sleep after hearing the squeaking of a canary from outside. His voice was loud enough to sound inside the house.

I opened the window so fresh air could come in. The morning sunlight gently struck me as soon as the window opened. It was a nice morning after a heavy rain last night.

If not wrong, today the school is closed. Yesterday, I checked the calendar and found that today is a red date.

I don't have to go to school and can relax all day at home. Books have been piled up for me to read. I could spend my day with that.

But first, let's fill the energy first. At least I should eat something before enjoying today.

My feet stepped lightly, out of the room. While walking, imagined by me will eat what I am this morning? What bread? Or cereal? If grandpa's home, I can have porridge or cake.

"hatchy.hatchi..."

My steps stopped when I heard a voice. It seemed like the sneezing sound of someone coming from the room occupied by Allen just now.

I peeked out from behind the door, someone was lying on the bed.

"hatchy.hatchi..."

It was Allen's sneezing sound. He rubbed his nose with a tissue.

"How long do you want to stay there?" He said as he picked up another tissue beside his bed. So, he seemed to know that I was peeping.

I opened the door of her room slightly wider so I could enter. With a slight hesitation, I approached him who was lying there.

"You sick?" My speech.

"As you can see, I'm just a little cold. And.fever." He said while touching his own forehead.

I could see that his face looked red with slightly pale lips. Even his breathing sounded a little heavy. His aura also sounded more raspy than usual.

His eyes looked slightly red and he could only lie helplessly. I feel a little sorry, just a little bit because he gave me a dus full of chocolate pudding last night.

And maybe, he's sick because of that. She came home soaked, I felt bad.

But I think he deserves it. He once pushed me and locked me in the closet. So, I'll take this as penance for him.

"I'll get you a wet cloth to compress your heat." I said as I ran away and ran out of the room.

"You want to eat something?" I said after giving him the compress cloth.

"No, I'm not hungry. You eat first." The reply.

I went out and left him alone. I don't have to worry about it, do I? After all it was his fault for walking in the rain.

Ah, forget. The most important thing now is breakfast.
