Second Road

Second Road
Episode 18: Allen, my new brother

The morning came back. Time to wake up and start a life. Or maybe it would be more appropriate if I called it "Let's get up, be late for school!"

That's a typical sentence that you'll often hear in the morning if you're still a student. Generally your mother will yell at you or your brother who will wake you up like that. I know that waking up in the morning is not fun for some people.

I know why you guys have trouble getting up in the morning. Your secret of what you do at night. Until you guys stay up late and sleep when it's very late, that's also what I know. Do you know why? Because I'm a man too. And that secret, forget it, let's continue the story for today.

I don't have to wake up every morning because I have something like an alarm in my brain, which makes me wake up at a certain time. If you get used to it, it won't be hard for you.

After bathing and getting dressed, I went to the dinner table for breakfast. I'm sure Grandpa's waiting for me with a bowl of cereal on the table.

Right, grandpa was already sitting there reading the morning paper. Oh, and I forgot about the guy last night. He was also there and made my footsteps stop.

When I look at it, all parts of my body seem to be stiff. I don't want to see him or meet him. Weird right? Am I having some kind of phobia?

"Yeah, Haru. Come here." Come here."

Grandpa put the newspaper he read on the table. I followed him and sat in one of the empty seats. This atmosphere was awkward because there was the blond man.

"So let's talk about last night. First of all, I want you to get to know each other. Haru, this is my grandson I told you about. His name's Allen."

I glanced at the man named Allen at a glance. If noticed, he did not resemble grandfather at all. I mean, just look at that blonde hair and her green eyes. Grandfather had black eyes and his hair was also black, although a small part of it had started to whiten.

"And, Allen. This is Haru, now he's my grandson too. Just like you."

"Then are we cousins now?" The man named Allen stirred the cereal bowl in front of him.

"I think it's better if you call him sister. Isn't she sweet? You always wanted to have a sister, right?" Grandpa smiled gently.

"But she's no cute cute. Like to bite, what's sweet?" His grunt.

I chose not to treat it, even though my skin was hot. It's better to spend my own breakfast than to look for a commotion this morning.

"And about last night, what really happened? Why is Haru in the closet?" Grandpa looked at us in turn.

The room was quiet for a while, the sound of tick tok clock sounded clearer.

"Well, I think he's a killer or an eye. Or maybe a thief. I know where he took the knife. So I thought he was going to hurt Grandpa, and then he ran off and hid in the closet. I'll just lock it." He murmured, still looking a bit indifferent.

It sucks, so he thinks like that? Do I have the look of a killer? There's just.

"But it's just a fruit knife. You came when I cut the apple. The knife was accidentally carried away. You were rude and pushed me anyway." I defended myself.

"Grandfather was also wrong for never telling me about him. And why did grandpa adopt her?" Grunts Allen. His green eyes were staring at grandfather.

"Don't you have to go to college? There's no way I'm gonna call you every time. And Allen, why are you here now?"

Grandfather raised the coffee cup in front of him, then sipped it slowly.

"Lecture is boring, so I just challenge the lecturer. And I won, I got a perfect grade and finished my college this semester two months early." He smiled proudly.

"Huh.., it's up to you. From now on, Haru is your sister, get along with her. Haru too, Allen is your brother. Don't be like tom and jerry, okay?"

We looked at each other, then nodded in unison. Weird, right? Last night I thought he was gonna kill me, and now he's my brother. And maybe I can get along with him?

Five minutes later, my breakfast was gone. It's time for me to go to school. Grandfather who understood my habits every morning immediately stood up. Grandpa's gonna drive a car and drive me to school.

"Oh, yeah. Allen, please take Haru to school today. Since you're here, I also plan on staying at my friend's place. So it doesn't matter if you're."

Grandpa took the car keys and threw them at Allen. The key caught him well.

"No, I'll take the bus. Don't bother driving me."

I hurriedly took the bag and prepared to leave. I also have no intention of being escorted by him. If you can, don't do it. I'm still thinking about last night. Maybe he didn't apologize after all that happened.

"No way, I'll drive you. Didn't you hear what Grandpa said?! Stop, come!"

I finally obeyed his words lazily. He pulled the car out of the garage. Cars also split the city streets.

For a few minutes, no one spoke. It feels awkward.

"Where's your school? What after this turn left?" He turned the wheel.

"Private high school that's on Iris street. After turning left, there's a crossroad, turn left again and arrive."

"You make jokes, huh? Seriously, tell me where?"

"Do I look like someone who's lying?"

"Come on, you might be 12 years old. Anybody that age is already high school, stupid."

He glanced at me. I know what his gaze means. He seemed to say I was short and I was very sensitive about it.

"I'm 14 years old. I'm telling the truth. You can see my student card." I grabbed the bag and took something, which was my student card and showed it to her.

"All right, I believe. You're so small." She laughs.

"But still, aren't you too fast to get into high school too? Are you a genius until you get straight into high school?" He pressed the horn as there was a slowing car in front of him.

"I don't know, either." Answer's short.

"And please speak correctly. Call me brother. You talk like we're the same. I'm twenty years old. Be a good sister and call me brother, got it?" Her speech.

His style of speech is soft, but still annoying.

Why did you ask me to call you brother? Didn't he accept me at all?

"Ah, we're up."

The car slowed down and eventually stopped. I opened the car door and got out. I saw Arya standing in front of the gate. Looks like he's waiting for me. I grabbed my bag and was about to leave.

"Wait a minute." Allen pulled my bag.

"Try calling me brother first, just let go." He smiled very annoyingly.

"I'm in a hurry, please let go." I tried to pull my bag, but still she wouldn't let go.

"What's difficult? Say it once and you can go, sister..." He said in a strange tone at the end of his sentence.

"No want! You're weird!"

My bag came off, I immediately ran away leaving it and met with Arya.

"Arya, good morning." I greeted him.

"By the morning, Haru."

We walked to class. Some people greeted us, although most of the people who were called were Aryans. No one can understand him, even I had heard that he was nicknamed the prince of the school.

"Who was with you? Why didn't Grandpa drive you?" Arya who looked curious looked at me closer.

"Forget him, he's just a bitch." I said I don't care.

"Hey, did something happen between you guys? Her hair is blonde. It's not very clear, but I know he's like an outsider. You know what I mean, right?" Arya smiled, making herself look twice as charming. I'm nodding.

"Oh, and the girls who saw you with that guy might have misunderstood." Arya laughed mischievously.

"What do you mean?" I looked at him not understanding.

"Forget it, you're still too small. Eat a lot to make it big, yeah." Arya rubbed my head.

Uh. It's a shame, we're in the same class but he's treating me like this.

We went into class. There are already some people in it. Some sleep, play cell phones and talk.

"Excuse me, good morning."

A girl appeared from the classroom door. Her hair is long and her face is beautiful. There's a dimple in his cheek area. I know her, it's Lily, Yuna's best friend.

"Arya, Haruru..."

He came into the class and approached us. Her smile was broad, beautiful. Just like the last time I saw him.

"Has Yun Yun come?" Said.

"I don't think so." Arya replied briefly after looking at the entire corner of the class.

"Oh, okay. I have something to tell him, but later. Ah, I almost forgot. Haruru, is the handsome brother who dropped you off just now your girlfriend?" He raised his index finger to face me, then laughed.

"Ten.of course not. Lily, I'm a man. Why do you think that? And how do you know?" I said hunt.

"He he, I saw you guys pull that bag, so sweet." Lily looks enthusiastic.

I understand what Arya meant about the girl who could misunderstand me when I saw her with Allen. What's like this?

"Eh? If not your boyfriend, then who is he? It's suspicious." Arya followed me. Now he's plotting with Lily.

"It's just Allen, Grandpa asked him to drive me. That'sthat's all. Arya, stop making fun of me." I said, folding my hands in front of my chest.

"Haru, you even called her name." Arya laughed again, and so did Lily.

What kind of situation is this? You idiot! I was their laughingstock this morning.

"I just don't want to call him brother." I said again and it was met with laughter by Arya and Lily.

Teng...

The bell has rung, it means the class is about to begin. Lily returned to her class and Yuna still hasn't come.

That morning, a lot of things changed. Allen became my brother even though I still felt unmindful and unknowingly, I felt like I could talk more freely to Arya and Lily.

Yuna did not come until the final lesson was over. Beyond that, today is fine. Allen picked me up after school. I wish I could see my grandfather picking me up.

That is, a lot of things have changed. We can only accept it. It's not too bad anyway, is it? Change can also make you better.

Keep changing like a caterpillar that becomes a cocoon and finally fly packing beautifully as a butterfly.

And in the end, you will die with pride. And so, until that happens, you have to fight on your own feet. Be a butterfly and fly beautifully.
