Part 11: Sepi
Azka Aldric Lonely
My feet were tired after playing basketball. Sweat drenched the school dress I was wearing. Best part, my class won against the next class. They invited us to play basketball. My other friends are already heading to class, except for the loner guy over there. He sat there for an inexorable time. Farel saw us play basketball. I know he's good at basketball too. He introduced basketball to me in Junior High.
He was flat when he saw us celebrating the victory. This victory is also his. He is also a member of our class. He deserves to celebrate with us. Even Alvia pulled her hand when we won. However, he refused. He smiled at Alvia.
True said Cessa, Farel smiled more lately. Especially when he was near Alvia. I think what made Farel change was the presence of Alvia.
Don't you like it....
Alvia was already sitting sweetly in her chair. He became the barrier between me and Farel. A lot of times Farel and I looked at each other when they wanted to steal a look at Cessa. He also often saw Alvia for a moment. Perhaps that is the natural instinct of a man when beautiful women are around them,
"Alvia," I said for a moment. He throws a smile at me.
"Hi Azka, congrats yes you win. You were cool," said Alvia to praise me. My cheeks instantly felt warm and flushed being praised by him. I'll sit down in the chair immediately.
"Oh yes Azka, if someone is kidnapped, how does he feel?" Suddenly Alvia asked me a no-no.
"Yes, I'm definitely worried. How is that, anyway?" my many.
"I should've seen the article about the kidnapping." He laughed and continued reading his notebook.
I could only laugh at the strange question from Alvia. Why would he win something like that for me? he seems interested in something like that.
Farel showed his nose stem at the classroom door. As usual, the class women scrambled to see him. But still Farel would never care about that. Only one he cares about, himself.
Alvia smiled at him. Farel replied with his trademark thin smile. Even though he was thin, he still looked handsome with that smile.
Farel's clothes looked shabby. I don't know what he's doing. It could be that he was re-taken by the IPS bad boys. Usually he goes to the library to win himself first if the symptoms of depression reappear. However, this time it seems like he did not go to the library first. He went straight to class. Means what Cessa said was true, the symptoms are now not very often appear.
Bell went home singing to comfort every tired student. I clenched my hands because the long hours of maths were finally over. I've been waiting three hours for this bell to end. It's sickening to learn something we don't like. I grabbed a bag and went to the classroom door.
I saw Alvia was already on her tracks first while carrying her pink bag.
"Alvia, wait dong," call me. However, he ran away from me as if he had not listened to my calls. I just scratched my head at his behavior.
I didn't bring a vehicle today. I usually take a car to school and sometimes take a motorcycle if I can't use it. Today the car is being used by my papa out of town, while my motorcycle is being treated in a workshop near the house. I don't want to use the public transportation available. Fortunately, the school is located in the city center, so it is quite easy to use public transportation.
I climbed the sidewalk that every few meters was overgrown by trees and figures. The wind blew flying the leaves until they crashed into the hard paved road. I often see Farel walking along this sidewalk. He always walked when he went to school or school. The house is pretty close from here.
Vehicles alternated non-stop. A car pulled behind me. Usually rarely vehicles that dare to pull over here because this road is prohibited to pull over. I kept walking along with the sound of the door opening from the car.
Someone pulled me from behind. Forcing me to follow the pull of his hand.
"What's this?" I said protesting. I let go of her hand. My eyes were wide open with what I saw. Not men or women. However, someone in a panda costume.
Is this what a clown criminal out of the country means? I suddenly remembered the social media articles I had seen before.
"Who are you?" I pulled it and tried to open the head of the panda that wrapped his face.
He was pretty good at letting go of my hand. He quickly locked my hands back until I couldn't move anymore. I'm trying to fight back. However, the lock was getting stronger to the point of causing me pain.
"It's kidnapping. Lepasin no? I'm the General's son. Don't fuck around." I'm trying to lie. He opened the door and kicked me in.
I looked at the person who was also in the car. "
Farel? How come you can be here?" my many. Kutatao it's deep.
'Oh you're the one who fucked me, right?" ask repeatedly.
He stayed in a cold style that sometimes made me feel disgusted at him.
Farel sighed and said, "You asked the kidnapper. I'm the victim too."
The man who kidnapped me opened the hairy panda's head. Her long hair was shed as she opened her mask. His eyes were round complete with pliable eyelashes. The fragrance of the perfume slammed into my nose.
"Alvia? You kok-" I can't continue my words. I still can't believe Alvia did it.
"Wear this costume is quite hot huh! Yuk, we go for a walk first." He runs his car slowly.
"What's this?" ask again.
He just laughed at my words. Farel who was beside me just smiled hearing Alvia's laughter.
"I just wanted to be with the two coolest guys in school" Alvia said. He laughed again with his special laugh. "No, I just want to know something you're hiding from me. All of you make peace" said Alvia again.
Farel and I looked at each other. We looked at each other who was the strongest. "You must have told him, right? I know that."
I threatened Farel. Farel just laughed cynically. I knew any threat wouldn't apply to a man with a steel mentality like that.
"You're saying I'm the one who's doing this? you want me to go again with my hands. You're the first person to get this in Pekanbaru!" He showed a strong fist.
I swallowed hearing his threat. Again, I remembered his harsh past. I was wrong to threaten people.
"Udah don't give birth. I want the three of us to have some fun today" Alvia said.
His smile made me silent. Looks sweet and pretty. No woman can match him. I saw Farel fold his arms and lean back. His eyes widened to look at Alvia. His facial lines vaguely implied a smile.
Farel tapped on my shoulder twice and whispered, "Let me explain it to him later, I think he needs to know."
I nodded in understanding. His words were seriously impressed. It shows its true nature which is always serious about everything.
"Star Hill?" I asked Alvia. I just found out this beautiful place is in Pekanbaru. Alvia quickly ran over to welcome the scenery there. His guitar bag shook as he ran.
At the end of our vision is just a charming view of Pekanbaru City. A skyscraper that if up close looks towering so high. On top of this the building looks small, like a miniature building that I often see in exhibitions about the city of Pekanbaru. The afternoon clouds were like white cotton floating in the air. It looks white and slightly yellowed on the clouds to the west.
I walked parallel to Farel. Both hands he put in his pocket. His aura looked cold and mysterious. Not like the Farel I used to know.
"I'm sorry about that cut on your lip." Farel's words broke the silence between us.
"Yes, I know, really. I understand how you feel when your best friend is harassed by others. Just like me you defended me first" I replied. Instantly I reminded Farel of the past that had approached both of us.
"You're a good reminder Azka." He slowly smiled then ran towards where Alvia was opening her hands to feel the wind blowing.
This place is quite crowded by young people who want to enjoy the afternoon. Beverage and food merchants sold their goods. The seats are full of visitors coming. The smell of sate Pariaman smelled fragrant as the smoke turned towards us. The sound of Alvia's guitar began to sound, leading us to sit and hear it.. The melodies he played sounded harmonious when mixed with the atmosphere of a beautiful afternoon.
We sat three and listened to Alvia's guitar music. His hands looked deftly replacing every guitar key he played.
"We'll wait for dusk here" Alvia said.
"Waiting dusk? Like waiting for Farel's rain?" my many. Farel smiled faintly hearing that.
"Yes, everyone has their own obsession, if Azka?" ask Alvia. I thought for a moment what my obsession was. My eyes are pointing upwards to think.
"Ah, as long as you think. Now tell me what happened to you and the depression you said Farel. What's that supposed?" alvia Pinta.
Farel and I looked at each other for a moment. I want to answer, but I think it would be wise for Farel to explain everything.
"Farel, explain" I asked Farel. He nodded and grabbed the guitar in Alvia's hands. He showed his guitar playing skills that he got when we were in Junior High.
He was accompanied by the sound of the guitar he was playing.
"It was still Junior High. I I and Farel used to be friends. Oh not a friend, I can say a friend. He used to be just a geeky kid who didn't know anything. Whatever the case, he complained to me."
He smiled at me. Alvia seemed curious to hear Farel's story that would reveal our past.
"Friend? How can?" ask Alvia quickly.
"I'm not done talking to Alvia. We used to be both Junior High School in Jakarta. I was not what you see now. I used to be the most respected person in school, even the same kid from another school. Azka and I used to fight with the kids out there to help our friends who often got into trouble from the delinquents outside of school" Farel said.
I laughed hearing that. True Farel said, at that time we were really wild. Alvia looked at me in wonder.
"Farel taught me to fight" I told him, laughing. He returned my laughter and went back to Farel
"And our friendship was destroyed since 2014, exactly we have X class High School. At that time we were brawling and Azka hit a block on his head to enter the hospital. Alvia want to know what happened back then?" ask Farel. Alvia shakes her head not knowing.
"I saved Azka at the store, and I went to jail for a few days because I was arrested by the police. After I was free Farel came to our gathering place and said that he would not be friends with us anymore, especially me. At that time I knew, it was just his Papa's orders that did not agree about our friendship that was a little wild" said Farel.
I sighed then said to Alvia, "Alvia wants to know what happens next? I got hit by Farel for the first time. The most feared lump in one school even stuck on my cheek. It takes a week to be healthy" I said with a laugh. Farel remembered the incident. He laughed when he heard it.
Farel continued his story, "Then a few days later Azka moved to Pekanbaru and died in Jakarta."
He hung down for a moment. I was worried that remembering this would make his depression relapse again.
"Farel are you okay? if you are not strong, do not continue" said Alvia who was worried. His hand touched Farel's face while trying to calm him down. I really want to feel that touch.
Farel was a step away from me.
"It's okay Alvia. I will continue. This is a story you don't know at all, even Azka. Only Cessa knows this."
"It hasn't been long since I got out of jail, I was at a nightclub in Jakarta because my friend was having a birthday there. Someone put a packet of drugs in my pocket and the juice I was drinking. Suddenly the police came in and I was arrested" Farel said in a low tone.
I did not know this incident happened after I was in Pekanbaru.
Farel's tears spilled unstoppably. For the first time crying in front of me.
"The CCTV camera did show that the drug package was inserted by someone, but I was proven to be a drug makai because the juice I drank was already entered by drugs with other people. I'm back to dealing with the police. My father was so angry that his heartache recurred until he was hospitalized and-"
Alvia and I were silent to hear Farel could not continue his sentence. The word is too heavy to say for the people we care about the most. Her tears fell down her cheeks. The sound of sobbing could not be avoided.
Alvia approached and hugged Farel warmly. I didn't think something like that would happen to Farel. I knew Farel had a lot of enemies out there, but I didn't expect him to do this to Farel.
"My father died and I couldn't accept everything that happened to make myself like this, Alvia. I was depressed until I hurt myself. If it wasn't for Cessa, I'd keep taking the sedatives." Her crying was so heavy in Alvia's arms.
Alvia tried to calm her down carried away by this atmosphere. Don't know why I felt it anyway. My tears form a line on my cheeks. Now I know how much Cessa meant to Farel that she was so angry when I hurt her.
Farel tried to relieve his sobs in Alvia's embrace. He released his trap.
"My father left me forever. I finally moved here because this is where I come from. My mother opened her own boutique to support me and my sister. I try not to get along with other people because I'm afraid they know about my dark past. That's why I'm always alone" Farel said.
I now imagine how lonely Farel has been living his life all this time. Always empty without friends and friends. There's not much he does to make friends. And I always avoid it because I hate the past we've been through. I felt wrong to have stayed away from him all this time.
"It's okay, I'm here for you Farel. Not just me, Alvia and Cessa too. You won't be lonely anymore." I held her shoulder.
His wet eyes looked at me. Looks red from crying and despair because life is too sloppy. A move I'll make for him.
I will not allow you to be cold in your own bike, I said in my heart.
