Chapter 43: The Party

Four days after Hector's arrival.

A logistical aid convoy arrived along with some additional personnel, Darius and three other colleagues were repatriated along with a group of logistic trains returning to the base.

Sophia muttered the day after Hector's arrival, during which time fighting was underway outside the ruins of the fort. Sophia who was lying unconscious suddenly aghast and jumped out of bed, startling all the paramedics there, she thought she was in the middle of a battle.

It took a while until Sophia could calm down, she fell back asleep with her body filled with bandages after that.

Supposedly in a few days, the logistics team will come to the defense post to bring in a supply of rations and additional personnel if possible.

But in the case of Darius' team, which caused them to be stranded at the defensive post for days was due to the breakdown of communication, the release of the messenger pigeon became the beginning of the catastrophe that befell Darius' unit earlier.

The military headquarters considered Darius' unit dead, they eventually sent Hector, who was one of the Chyrosian military commanders along with several personnel including paramedics and witch units.

They thought the death of Darius' unit was because they were facing a strong enemy, Darius' unit was not equipped with enough paramedics, they also did not have witches in that unit. In spite of all that, Darius and his three comrades managed to survive, although they lost several powerful soldiers including their unit leader who was a middle officer. But with Darius and Victor safe, the loss they experienced so not so great.

Upon the arrival of the four of them at the Northern Alliance Headquarters, they met directly with the leader of the Alliance who was also the leader of the Chyrosian, Emperor Leonidas Panagioto.

As Hector had already said, the Emperor was willing to fulfill the request of the four of them as a reward for their heroic actions at the defensive post.

Darius asked for compensation in the form of money and basic food for him and the families of some of his fallen comrades, the Emperor agreed to Darius' request and gave him promotion.

While all three of his comrades asked for an early retirement, but with the condition of the northern continent at the tip of the horn, of course the Emperor objected to it.

In the end, only Jacob got an early retirement, while Sophia would become a staff at the Central Headquarters of the Northern Continent Alliance and Victor was appointed as an instructor at one of the military headquarters to train new soldiers. Of course they also get compensation in the form of money and basic food.

"Are we not supposed to have a party?" Darius said after they met the Emperor.

Jacob immediately agreed to Darius' advice, "I haven't had a good wine in a long time, if money should be used for drinks, right?"

A Commander named Elias greeted Darius and invited him to sit in one of the available seats.

"Maybe you still don't fully understand the purpose of this meeting, therefore, I'll explain it briefly."

What they were planning was a territorial conquest mission, therefore, the Emperor who was also the leader of the Northern Continent Alliance appointed Darius who was willing to be parachuted back to the frontlines to be part of that mission.

The crisis they were experiencing at the moment forced them to do something other than just endure, they planned to open a path towards the eastern continent and restore the communication path with the other continents. If they are still there, of course.
