Chapter 31: Disappointed

That morning, Haznav, who had woken up from sleep, wandered into the refugee area of the soldier's pars, they set up makeshift tents using logs and leaves stacked into a kind of hut for the soldiers with the most injuries.

Three soldiers who were previously in critical condition were declared dead this morning, their bodies covered in their own military uniforms.

Upon arrival at the guard post, Haznav is confused because William who was supposed to get the last guard shift is not in place, he asks another soldier who became his co-defendant.

"Where's William!?" He shook the soldier's shoulder, which looked hesitant and a little scared. Haznav can already guess what happened.

He snorted in annoyance, "Did he go alone?" The soldier nodded, making Haznav a little relieved. With William's power, he should be able to come back alive.

"Haznav, what's wrong?" Damian who appeared from behind asked, "Where is William?" Ask him after looking around and not finding William there.

"He's following Adrian." Damian gasped at Haznav's reply, "Hey! Why did you let him!?" He hit that soldier, he was a Bronze Class man, of course he couldn't do anything when William left.

Haznav held Damian back from doing further, "With his strength, he should be able to return safely" Haznav said, despite the sound of disbelief in his voice.

Damian let out a heavy sigh, he sat leaning against a tree, holding his head. Haznav leaned against another tree, though he did not sit.

"Hey ... He must be alive, right? The Adrian." Damian said softly, "So he's Adrian anyway."

Haznav looked at the bowed Damian holding his head, "Don't expect too much, there is a possibility, but we must prepare for the worst."

The sound of Damian complaining of restraint, Haznav immediately switched the conversation, "How are Alvaro and Raymond in condition?"

Damian lowered his hand, "Raymond was awake early this morning, but the paramedics told him to keep resting."

"Alvaro?"

Damian shook his head, "He's still not awake, but paramedics say he's more stable. People like us can recover faster."

"Raymond asked about us?"

Damian nodded. Haznav paused for a moment, "What did they say?"

"Yes ... They lied, especially about Adrian, stabilizing Raymond's condition is a top priority right now."

It's true, Raymond was the key to them if they wanted to stay alive. His healing powers are always necessary, especially if Alvaro is using his powers.

Haznav breathed again, not knowing how many times he did. They had to leave this place immediately before the iron puppets chased after them, if Raymond had recovered and could use his strength again, they could immediately move towards another city to solidify the defenses there.

"That's William!" Screaming about the soldier that Haznav and Damian had hit, he pointed in one direction. The two of them were aghast, then immediately turned their heads in the direction the soldier pointed at.

A few tens of meters away, William was speeding through the air at high speed, his face was worried and panicked, but a smile was on his face. He was seen carrying something on his shoulder.

Damian and Haznav gawked at it, Damian holding his breath seeing William coming with him ....

"ADRIAAN!" Damian is uncontrollable.

"GIRST! THERE'S AN EMERGENCY LANDING!" William shouted loudly at them while shaking his hand many times, telling them to get away from his landing radius.

William's body slammed into the ground then dragged several meters away before being toppled several times and stopped. But before he hits the ground, he throws Adrian's body at Haznav.

Damian exclaimed happily, then running towards William who was still down, he pulled William's body to stand up.

"Aw! Slowly fuck!" William screamed in pain, on his body there were some burns and minor cuts, he was not wearing his armor, so it was natural that he was injured here and there.

"You all right!?" Damian asked enthusiastically, William nodded, well even though his condition could not be said to be 'fine'.

"More importantly it was Adrian! Quickly get him to the paramedics!" William Exclamations.

"He's still breathing ...." Lirih Haznav's.

Haznav immediately ran towards the basecamp while they left William and the soldier with him.

"Hey ...." William held his right side of the abdomen that was hit by a puncture wound, the puncture did not reach his vital organs, although still the pain was not playing.

"Can you carry me?" Asking the soldier, the soldier nodded and immediately supported William and led him to the basecamp.

Arriving at the basecamp, a commotion had already occurred there, even wounded soldiers who had difficulty walking until the follow swarmed Adrian who was laid on the grass.

Reyna runs towards William and hugs him, but Reyna is too excited while running, making William feel like his body was hit by something as Reyna hugged him. He almost bounced back then.

"Thank you! Thanks!" He cried on William's chest, William smiled and clasped his head.

Raymond whose body was almost fully recovered ran out of the makeshift tent and immediately checked Adrian's condition.

"Can he still be saved?" Haznav asked in an anxious tone, there was a huge slash wound on Adrian's body and the burn that almost covered his entire body made people think that he was just waiting for time. Raymond who looked puzzled just nodded.

Haznav and everyone let out a sigh of relief, people started to shout William and Adrian's names.

Raymond's hand touched the large slash wound on Adrian's body and began to use his strength, a dim light flowing from his hand into Adrian's body. Slowly, Adrian's body began to recover, the slash wound closed, the burns all over his body disappeared little by little.

It did not take long for Adrian to fully recover, although his armor and military uniform were damaged and burned here and there.

Everyone cheered joyfully, some of them even to their knees before William sitting on a rock, making him misbehave.

Even Haznav without a smile showed a faint smile on his lips. "Good work, Raymond-" He was perplexed at Raymond's disappointed and sad expression.

"... What's up?" Haznav looked at Adrian, his body recovered and his wounds closed, but Adrian's mouth and nose returned to spitting out large amounts of fresh blood.

"It is impossible ... Raymond! What's going on?!" Haznav almost grabbed Raymond's collar because of his panic.

The people who initially focused on William turned their head back towards Adrian, panic ensued when they saw Adrian who several times spewed blood from his mouth, and the panic occurred when they saw him, even from his nose also flowed a large amount of blood.

Raymond sat Adrian down, then he let Adrian lean on his body which was emitting a bluish dim light.

"What's going on?" Reyna approached with worry. But Raymond only shook his head with a face of despair.

Not long after, Raymond laid his body back on the grass, then wiped Adrian's sweaty forehead and cleaned the blood on Adrian's face using a handkerchief. He took off his military uniform and covered Adrian's face with it.

What Raymond did said everything, people stared at the scene blankly, they had not had time to digest the events that happened so quickly.

Before long, the mood returned grim, the people were sitting limp holding their heads, Reyna, Damian and William began to cry. While Haznav lifts Adrian's body into one of the makeshift tents, pulls one of the wounded soldiers out and lays Adrian's body there.

Raymond hurriedly used his power on the soldier. Then he turned his head towards the crowd of soldiers, they did not say anything, but their gazes were seen asking for an explanation from him.

"I'm sorry, I am indeed capable of recovering burns, slashes, stabs. Even I can connect the severed organ as long as it has the organ."

Raymond was silent for a moment, "I ... Cannot restore organs that are not there. How could he have survived this far, I don't understand."

He walked over to William, using his healing powers to William.

Reyna cries in William's arms, the hope that arises because Adrian who was brought back alive actually makes the pain they experienced deeper.

Although most people there have only known Adrian in the past few days, he is charismatic, friendly and intelligent. Makes him able to build a close bond with them in a short time.

"Now I have to think about the words I will tell Alex and Anford" Lirih Haznav walked away from the crowd.
