Revenge of the Son of the Nobles

Revenge of the Son of the Nobles
Chapter 36: Envoy

The early morning in the city of Pyotr, a southeastern outpost, days after the first wave of undead attacks passed. Firrst?

Yes, the undead again stormed the city three days after, but since the defense soldiers had already understood the pattern of their movements and attacks. With less effort from the first wave of attacks, they managed to wipe out the undead.

They dug a trench in front of the defensive line, the trench had a depth of about twice the height of an adult by a width of about twice the horse jump, digging a trench was no big deal thanks to the cooperation of Alicia and Desmond.

When the undead came, they easily slaughtered the living corpses that were mired into the trenches. Amazingly, they were able to avoid any casualties back then, even without Alex's help at all

Speaking of Alex, he was alive two days after the first wave, the first thing the soldiers and residents did was to lift his bed out and throw a party at the town hall. Although it can not be considered a luxury party because they are saving logistics, but the party still feels festive.

On the other hand, Tania who lost Brian was also one of the great contributors in that war, she single-handedly stood at the gate of the fortress, and, banish the undead who break through Alex and his comrades' ranks as the other soldiers retreat behind the fortress.

As if venting out his anger and sadness, he ferociously and brutally slashed the undead while shouting into the shadows, to the point that the soldiers thought he was a soldier turned into an undead.

His achievement was also appreciated by military officers and mayors, officers seemed very happy with Tania's contribution, he gave Tania one of his personal medals that he got when he was young. "You keep this until it gets more deserving from the Alliance." That's what he said at the time.

Somehow the officer gave him such treatment, perhaps because of his empathy for the grieving soldier. Nevertheless, Tania received the medal with a flat face, even seeming gloomy.

Then today, Desmond who was on a day patrol was startled by Theodore who suddenly appeared, his body wet with sweat and his different-looking uniform filled with dust.

"Crown Prince? Why are you here?" Desmond asked in confusion.

"Ah, now that I'm part of the Alliance, don't be too formal on the battlefield." Theodore answered briefly.

"I'm here a while after you guys face that undead wave. Well, I only met with officers anyway, so it's only natural you don't know." Reciprocity.

Desmond was more confused, "Shortly ... Then you came here four days ago, why are you here?"

Theodore chuckled, "Hey, what do you think is my strength?"

Desmond seemed to think for a moment, then his mouth was gaping wide. "Don't say ... You ran from Leidengard to Anderas."

Theodore laughed again, "Leidengard is not right anyway, because now I'm part of the Alliance, so I ran from Petra."

Desmond was at a loss for words. "Oh yeah, I also patrolled west and north before coming here." He called himself the Alliance babu several times, but strangely he looked just as happy.

"By the way, Donovan. Can you take me to the officer's office? If you can call Collin and Nostrada too."

At first Desmond felt a bit strange about Theodore's habit of calling someone by their last name, but now he was getting used to it, perhaps it is because of the culture of Vasilius whose nobles tend to refer to each other by title or surname.

"Alex is supposed to be out of the barracks any minute, because he usually trains in the afternoon with Thomas and Brenda." Desmond.

Theodore nodded, "Alright, I guess I'll just wait here. You want to come to the officer's office?"

Desmond shook his head, but he looked curious, so what happened until Alex and Anford met with the officers?

"What's wrong?" Ask Desmond.

Theodore was silent for a moment to hear Desmond's question, "No need to think about it" Theodore said after a moment of silence. "But I think it's good that you come too" he continued.

What's the matter? Desmond still did not understand what Theodore was saying, which made him even more curious.

Theodore turned to the origin of the voice, that person was Alex who had just come out of the barracks with a training weapon, carrying a training weapon, his face was filled with confusion seeing the Crown Prince who should have been in Leidengard suddenly appear here.

"Can you come with me for a minute? Call Nostrada too if he's not busy." Suddenly given a 'command' by a Crown Prince, Alex nods at it even though his head is still filled with questions, but he immediately goes into the barracks to summon Anford as requested by Theodore.

Not long after, Alex returned together with Anford who was very surprised by the Crown Prince's presence, he immediately saluted nervously. Since Anford was the only noble here besides Theodore, so he understood how to greet the royal family.

Theodore shook his hand to see Anford's attitude. "Just relax, Nostrada. We don't need any formality in a place like this," Anford slightly flinched as Theodore suddenly extended his hand, "After all, you're a noble of another country, anyway, why greet a Prince who is not from your country?"

After a while of weighing Theodore's words, Anford finally returned Theodore's helping hand, disrespectfully also making a Crown Prince wait too long. "I'm sorry for my stupidity." Anford's words made Theodore laugh, "You are very different from someone in the south."

Anford thought the Crown Prince was talking about Adrian, since he was also a prince from a big country, maybe he was being too casual to the Crown Prince.

"Donovans." Theodore gestured for Desmond to point the way, leaving Desmond with no other choice and eventually began to lead the way to the officer's office which was in the town hall.

Along the way, Alex and the others simply fell silent, they were still confused by Theodore's presence in Peter.

Arriving at the office, the guards who knew Alex and his friends well immediately let them into the officer's study even though there was Theodore whom they did not recognize. But seeing the man was accompanied by people of the caliber of Alex, Anford and Desmond. They're sure he's not a random person.

"Ferguson's Person." Theodore greeted the officer who was busy reading the report on his desk, he immediately stood up and greeted when he saw Theodore enter.

Ferguson immediately invited Theodore to sit on the sofa provided. "You wanna stand up?" Theodore looked at Alex and the others who were just standing on the side of the sofa he was sitting on.

"We can't dare." Anford replied, only he knew how to respond to Theodore's offer, and Desmond and Alex were almost sitting down.

Theodore shrugged, then turned to Ferguson who was also still standing a few meters in front of Theodore's sofa.

"We meet again, Officer. You look healthy."

Ferguson laughed politely at Theodore's remark, "Of course Your Majesty, it's only been four days since you've come, I've always been trying to maintain good health."

Although he was already in his sixties, Ferguson still looked strong and energetic. When he wore a military uniform, he exuded a veteran aura that no one could deny.

It reminded him of Grand Duke Andreas Notaras Chevallaire, when he was a child, he said, Grand Duke who is the older brother of Grand Duke Theseus still looks very strong and authoritative even though he was in his sixties at that time. Grand Duke Andreas was killed on the battlefield during a conflict between the Kingdom of Vasilius and the Kingdom of Aquilonia which is now the location of the northern defense post.

"Actually," Theodore's voice intonation became rather serious, everyone immediately put on a fine ear. "I bring good news and bad news."

Theodore was silent after saying that, even though his expression looked flat, but everyone felt that his emotions were mixed.

Alex felt that something was wrong, his hunch said that the news Theodore brought was very bad news. Worse than he imagined.

"I guess ...." Theodore finally continued his words, "I'll deliver the good news first."
