Rocco Marinelli was surprised to hear Alessandro dropped his charges just a week after he was sent to prison. That son of the devil Alessandro, Rocco thought. Because Alessandro's fucking life's been a mess for five years.
Rocco no longer owns his home and business. Not only that, his status as a fugitive made all his friends and colleagues stay away from him like a plague. He had to hide from the police and ask for help from all the people he had helped, but basically they were all evil humans, they left him at the lowest point of Rocco's life. No one is willing to help him.
No one was brave enough, or foolish enough, to oppose Ferrara's rule.
Rocco knows that Lucia Russo, the mother of Alessandro who used to work in her mansion, is a beautiful woman with no apparent origin. Rocco only thought that the woman was a cheap woman who originally slept with just any man so gave birth to Alessandro without a father. He did not expect that Alessandro's father was the only son of the venerable Ferrara family!
Just look at Alessandro's incredibly arrogant behavior. Rocco did not like Alessandro when he was a gardener in his home simply because of his poor background and unclear lineage. But Rocco preferred Alessandro more when the man had established himself as Ferrara's sole heir because of his haughty and arrogant behavior!
Rocco will obviously not be willing to give his daughter to someone who has been trampling on her pride for five years. There are still a lot of good guys out there. Take Roberto Mancini for example. The man was refined, courteous, learned, with a clear bloodline, and most importantly, Rocco knew for a long time that Roberto had harbored a taste in Carlotta.
Carlotta is also very stupid. Want to be tricked by Alessandro who is a handyman who brags the word love. Is Rocco so stupid and could just close his eyes with the depraved behavior of Alessandro who was shaken by women all this time? As bad as Rocco cheated, he only ever slept with one woman other than his wife all this time, just because he thought his wife was barren! It had been years of marriage as a result of his match with Caterina took place, but Caterina did not also give him offspring. It was only after Giacomo was born and became a healthy toddler that Caterina became pregnant with their first child. Carlotta's. Since then, Rocco has cut all ties with his mistress.
However, Rocco did not simply break away from his obligations to Giacomo. Rocco continued to give big monthly money to Fiametta, his mistress, for Giacomo's living and school expenses. Convinced that Giacomo would be willing to help him in return for all the money he had received from Rocco so far, Rocco left for Milan and appealed for help to his eldest son, Giacomo Marinelli.
Unexpectedly, Giacomo also refused to help her. Apparently, Fiametta had never given Giacomo money that should have been child support. Giacomo grew up thinking he was never loved by his parents, and became unusually resentful of his father. But, when mentioning that Carlotta and her sisters live alone on the streets, Giacomo is willing to send help and keep the three Rocco daughters from afar. Rocco is quite grateful for that.
All the unpleasant things that happened to him were caused by Alessandro Ferrara! The brash man had even done something out of bounds and made Carlotta pregnant. Rocco felt disgusted at the granddaughter he had never met because in the baby flowed the blood of the person he hated half to death.
When he finally came out of the bars, Giacomo and Carlotta greeted him outside the detention house. Rocco's eyes widened, not expecting them to come.
"Mr ...." Carlotta approached cautiously.
Rocco stopped walking and fell silent where he stood. "You guys?"
Slowly, Rocco's hand moved to caress his daughter's blonde hair. He cleared slowly. "Are you now aware that all of Papa's words are true?"
Carlotta shook her head slowly. "I'm guilty of continuing to oppose you. But my mistakes don't stop there. I never tried to explain my feelings to Alessandro, Pa ...."
Rocco immediately spat in disgust at the name Alessandro called.
"Listen to me first, Pa ...." Carlotta clasped her father's hand tightly. "I love Papa so much. It's just Papa I've had since I was a kid. But I also love Alessandro a lot. He is the father of my son Maurizio."
Carlotta then looked back and gave Marco the code to bring Maurizio closer. Rocco's breath was stuck in his throat as soon as he saw the tiny baby up close.
"Hair and eyes really look like me." Rocco muttered softly.
"Yes! Isn't he very similar to Papa?" Carlotta picked up the baby and thrust it at her father. "Will Papa carry it?"
Hesitating, Rocco reached out to touch Maurizio. Maurizio chuckled softly as he felt amused.
"D-he's like a doll!" Rocco exclaimed happily with bated breath.
Carlotta smile. "Papa's right. I should have taken him to see Papa sooner. I'm sorry."
Rocco now lifts Maurizio in the air. "Your name is Maurizio, huh? I'm your grandpa!"
Maurizio laughed again as he felt his body being swung into the air. The cold wind caressed the baby's hair and made his cheeks even more red.
"Please bless me and Alessandro, Papa. I don't have a chance with Roberto Mancini anyway." Carlotta said firmly.
Rocco stopped adoring Maurizio in mid-air and held the baby tightly. "What do you mean?"
Ciara appeared from behind while holding Roberto and said with a sigh. "Sister can't marry Roberto because Roberto will marry me."
Ciara then showed off the sapphire ring on her ring finger. Roberto nodded. "Me and Ciara are getting married soon. I've come to ask for your blessing, Signor Marinelli."
