"Can you take care of Naya for me?"

93

Andy greeted us in front of the waiting room. His face looked very worried but he tried to smile when he saw me.

“Hengky, she... where is she?” ask me when I get in front of him.

Andy nodded politely towards Abah, Mother, and the others. Without saying much he pointed his hand as a sign for us to follow in his footsteps.

My heart rate is getting irregular. Until when I entered the VVIP room I saw Hengky was lying limp with an infusion hose in his hand.

Oh Allah....

Really if I could hold back my tears, I really would not want to show it in front of Papi, Mami and some of Hengky's current siblings. But looking at the infusion hose on his hand, bruises were also cuts on the temples and cheekbones, making tears just flow so wet the cheeks.

“I'm not papa, Naya.” Hengky smiled gently as she saw me approaching to her side.

“Gak papa how... this wound all gini..” my sentence sounds choked by the sound of crying.

Mami hugged my shoulder, gently rubbed my back, “Doctor said no serious condition really, Naya..”.

“T-but why did Hengky use an oxygen hose, mi?” askaku. My voice sounded hoarse because it was not stopping crying.

“The chest felt a little tight due to the impact. The rest is not papa..”.

Papi approached us, and he greeted Abah and the other brother. His smile was friendly and able to break the atmosphere with his light jokes.

Hengky gave Andy a code to change the position of his bed to a sitting position, he whispered softly to Andy.

“Can close for a moment here, Naya?” ask Hengky slowly.

His voice sounded weak, adding to my belief that he was not okay.

After getting closer to his side, Hengky looked into my eyes with a look that I could hardly understand. He then smiled and turned to look at Andy, “I can ask for something help, Sis?”

Andy nodded quickly, “What's up?”

“Can you take care of Naya for me? I'm sure Big Brother can replace my position of guarding Naya.”

“What?!” me and Andy were simultaneously saying the same question.

“J-don't mess around, Ky. T-this is our wedding day, isn't it? Look. I've worn the kebaya that you ordered specifically for me. Don't forget, there are still two more dresses I haven't worn. I... I...” My crying broke again. I can't finish my sentence.

Papi, who was near Abah, my mother and my other brother were speaking seriously. The corner of my eye caught the surprised Mother while closing her mouth. And this time she couldn't even hold back her tears.

“Naya, I just don't want you to go through difficult days alone. I want to leave without worrying..”.

“Now!” I cut off Hengky's sentence quickly, “Whatever you want to say, I don't want to hear if it's not about our marriage. Didn't you just say you were okay? Then why do you now talk about slacking?”

“Can you listen to my sentence until it's done, Darling?” ask soft Hengky. He seemed to be holding his breath, his hands holding his chest.

“For God's sake, Hengky. I don't want to marry anyone but you! If you leave, I won't marry anyone, Hengky!” without me noticing my voice rising mixed with tears. All that came out was a sentence like a lament. I really can't use my wits anymore right now.

Andy wiped the tears that fell on his cheek. He clasped Hengky's hands firmly, “Ky, don't gini, Bro! It's just plain claustrophobic, you say your head is dizzy? It was just the impact earlier, the effect would disappear. C’mon. we need you, Bro. Naya needs you.”

Hengky closed his eyes, making his tears instantly drip. His lips did not stand apart. I don't know what she's feeling but she seems to be holding back the pain, making me even more frightened.

“Change...” Hengky voice slowly calling Abah.

“I don't know, Bah. I don't feel calm. I.. I'm afraid to leave Naya alone.”

Abah immediately hugged Hengky, he rubbed Hengky's head then whispered softly, “You are fine, son... You'll be all right soon..”

“I'm not okay, Abah. I know very well what I am feeling right now,” Hengky wiped her tears. He nodded while shaking his head weakly.

I looked away, unable to see Hengky's desperate look. My heart hurts more to see it like this.

“I want, before leaving, I make sure Naya is guarded by the right person. And brother Andy is the right person for Naya, Bah.”

“Wherever you go, I come, Hengky! Anywhere! Please.. I beg you.. don't talk much, you focus on rest...” pleads. If I could hug her, I would love to hug her and wipe her tears.

Hengky looked at me desperately, “Should I sit and rest at your feet for you to obey me, Naya?”

“Allahu Rabbi..” My knees feel very limp and unable to support the body. Without me knowing I was sitting on the floor crying.

Mother came closer towards us, she rubbed my shoulders gently then looked at Hengky with understanding, “Son, I understand very well what you are feeling right now. Fear and pain mixed one, but did you know that Mother also brought Mr. Penghulu come here?”

Hengky's face lifted, he looked at Mother in disbelief, “A-what?”

“To keep if the situation is out of control, Mom prepared everything. Later, you should thank Mom, yaaaa.” Mom smiled, a little slipping jokes in her sentence.

“But Hengky.”

“You are okay, Bro! Look, your heart rate is normal, your body is warm, you can even talk smoothly even if only nonsense comes out,” Andy forced a laugh, he patted Hengky's shoulder, “Come on! Would you be willing if Naya even married me and it turns out you are okay?”

With a flash his expression turned bright, he excitedly turned to look at Andy, “Kak, can you call the doctor who handled me at the IGD earlier? There are a few things I want to confirm.”

Andy nodded then went out of the room. I saw a big smile on his lips. Yes, the sentence managed to rebuild the spirit in Hengky.

Mommy holds my shoulder, guiding me to sit on the sofa. I said it was rude to refuse Mami who had good intentions to me. My mom sat down on the sofa.

“Hengky is always like this when sick, Naya. Always been scared like this, from childhood first.” Mami opened the chat, her eyes straight at Hengky who was talking to Abah and Papi.

I didn't answer. Rejection is clearly heard in the heart. Isn't Mami never there for Hengky? How could he possibly underestimate Hengky's current feelings?

“In the car was anyone, Mom?” ask Mom to Mommy.

I who was not very interested at first now turned to look towards Mami. Yeah, until now I don't know how the accident happened.

“Andy who brought the car, Hengky was in front with Andy, then me and his papa Hengky were in the back. We were only shaken forward for a moment, while the left car hit by the mini bus was slightly damaged. Though the collision is not hard, somehow Hengky became frightened like this.”

“That was hit on the front left side huh, Mi? And Hengky is on the left, right?” askaku.

Mami nodded.

I let out a breath. Between relief mixed sad, “Hengky shock, Mi. She's shocked. Not the physical that needs help.”

Mami turned her head towards me, her face a little surprised as if she had just realized that that was what Hengky was feeling. His eyes suddenly turned red, he was down, “Yes God.. You are right, Naya..”.

Mom and I looked at each other. For now we can understand each other's meaning even without words. Our views shifted simultaneously towards Hengky, though,

Oh, my God, honey...

I can't wait to bring you home...
