55. The Heart that is Broken

Alex stared at his phone for a moment until he finally decided to send a short message to Irene about his return to Indonesia. He did not want to make the woman have any trouble because of it, quite this time they made up.

Alex: We'll leave at 1pm, come if you have time

Irene's business is coming or not, Alex doesn't care. He just didn't want to disappoint the woman again. Even though he was on the side that no one benefited from, Alex ignored all the bad possibilities that could have happened.

While pulling his suitcase and Hani's, Alex looks at Hani who is joking with Chris. Regardless of what they discuss, Alex is not curious because all his thoughts are only seized by what will happen if Hani and Irene meet. He really can't guess what happens next.

During the trip to the airport, Alex just fell silent while staring out the car window, not once joined by the talk of Hani and Chris who was very lively to make the driver who drove them feel uncomfortable seen from the look of his face.

"Why do you keep quiet, Alex?" hani asks after Chris gives him a code to ask about Alex's situation which began to look strange since last night.

"Ah, no, dear. I'm just sleepy" Alex replied with a faint smile. He rubbed his face to make sure he was sleepy. Because it is too innocent, Hani just nods lightly believing Alex's words and then again bothers Chris.

Some time on the way they finally arrived at the airport. Alex glanced at his watch and it was still 11:00 and that meant he had two hours to wait for Irene to come or not. When the clock was pointing at 12:00, Alex got a call from Irene. Without long the man answered the phone.

"We have arrived. Where are you guys?" ask Irene.

"We're at restaurant X, come here" Alex said.

Shortly waiting, Irene appeared to the tall man pushing his wheelchair from behind. The man looks very friendly and at the same time Alex is grateful at least Irene found a good man for him.

Chris and Hani looked shocked to see who had come near them. Both of them looked as if they were processing what was going on. Alex, who realizes the confusion there, finally explains that Irene's arrival is only to say goodbye.

"Hi" said Irene, closing in on Hani, who was still looking at her in surprise, "Irene" then extended her right hand.

Hani replied that the hand was hesitant, "Ah-hai. I'm Hani," awkwardly. Seeing Irene made him recall the moment Alex hugged her tightly and every time he remembered her, Hani felt a pain in her heart. She can't lie to herself if she still can't accept the reality if she has to get in touch with her future husband's ex-lover.

"Are you okay?" Irene asked softly.

"Ah, I'm fine," Hani replied awkwardly.

"Thank God," Irene said, "I think you and Alex are a good fit" she said sincerely.

"Thank you," Hani replied blushing in embarrassment.

"Oh, by the way he's Louis, my lover." Irene pulled the man's hand behind her to stand next to her.

Alex reached out his hand, wanting to shake hands with Louis which the Frenchman immediately replied dashingly, "Hey."

Alex immediately embraces Louis and takes him away from Irene and Hani and invites him to chat.

"I don't know you yet, but I hope you're a good person who will treat him well" Alex told Louis.

Louis raised his eyebrows, "You need not hesitate. I'll keep it as strong as I can" she replied with a wide smile.

"Don't hurt him because I've hurt him too much" Alex's message stared straight at him.

"Relax, I won't make her meet a man like you again" Louis chuckled that they could only laugh out loud as if understanding each other with their own thoughts.

On the other hand, Irene and Hani seem familiar discussing about how much they fell in love with Paris. The two who were originally awkward now started to share a laugh.

Hani nodded, "I will always be happy while with her. I felt lucky that you left her before so I met her," she chanted, trying to drive away the awkward atmosphere.

"He left me and now I think I can accept the reason why he left me, because now he has you" Irene smiled sweetly. "But I found a man who was better than Alex, you could say we both benefited," he finally said.

Alex and Louis re-join Hani and Irene who seem still cool chatting.

"Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but we have to leave now or we'll miss the plane" Alex recalled, causing Hani to panic. He immediately woke up Chris who had been asleep since when with his face attached to the restaurant table

"It feels sad we can't talk any longer" Irene exclaimed, "tell us if you'll come here again, I'll make a party to greet you."

"We'll come again. Sure. I've fallen in love with this city" Hani said.

"Oh," Irene recalled something and took a book out of her bag and presented it to Alex, "This is a book I wrote, you should be proud because you were the first person to have this book before it was released, Alex." - Alex."

"Well, it's an honor," cheeky Alex.

After chatting and saying goodbye, they finally parted ways and went back to living each other's lives.

And this time Alex and Irene's story is really over. There's no more Alex and Irene said because they're no longer 'and'.

After a very tiring journey, they finally arrived in Indonesia. Alex and Chris look lethargic, but Hani looks chaotic and sad because on the plane the woman cried many times while reading the book Irene gave to Alex. When asked why she was crying, Hani replied she was sad without saying why she was sad.

"Why do you keep crying, honey? What is this book about?" ask Alex to be curious.

Hani stared at Alex flatly, "It's about your story and Irene's. She obviously loved you so much back then, has she really forgotten about you, Alex?"

Alex instantly pulled Hani into his arms, "Sure. Irene had forgotten about me and I was sure of that. Don't ever think like that again, huh? Hm?"

Hani nodded softly, "Sorry," he murmured.

Suddenly Chris approached Alex with a doubtful face. His phone was still stuck to his ear but his face had already explained if something bad had just happened.

"What's wrong?" alex asked to break his arms with Hani.

"Your father asked you to see him as soon as possible and he probably knew you were going to Paris" Chris explained.

"Then why?" ask Alex again with the eyebrows clutched.

Chris sizzled softly, "Chelsa just got into the hospital. He tried to kill himself in front of your father."
