With lethargy Nadine sat on the side of the bed. He just came home from college to see the results of the practicum exam. His grades were excellent, but he was not happy, not proud.

Nadine's eyes were fixed on the small calendar at the study table. There's a black circle falling today where Gerdy should have come. Means it's been a week since he came home from Kalimantan. Whether the research was successful or not, there was never any news.

Nadine recalled Gerdy's words each time she would face the test, "If your grades are good, you can catch my head by the number you get."

Initially Nadine hoped Gerdy would hear his explanation and open the door to apologize for him. "My girlfriend deserves to be offended" Nadine said. "I never celebrated a birthday with him, but that night I celebrated with Bradley."

"You're celebrating birthdays with the rest of the lodge, not just Bradley" said Friska, the only singles in their lodge.

"But all that stuff from Bradley, including the presents you gave me."

"Where does the problem go?" ask Nungky, a slightly neutral lodge friend.

"The thing is you guys have been used by Bradley to get me. You're just thinking about your own pleasure. You never think how I feel. How important is self-esteem to a man like my girlfriend."

Nungky mangosteen with cynicism. "Oh, is that it? Very high self-esteem play boy, losing the power pole!"

"The question is, are you not the same Bradley?" ask Rindy.

"Geez! I mean, I mean not connecting!"

"Simple, if you don't like it, you can object to celebrating a birthday with us."

"The date has happened, I object to what?"

"Next year is still there" said Rindy casually. "Is there a plan to break up?"

Nadine's upset. "Next year I'm moving out of this hut!"

"Urusan means finished. What else?"

"Your assholes!"

"That jerk is your boyfriend!" flip Friska. "Birthday problems alone are exaggerated!"

"Don't blame my girlfriend! Your brains are short-sighted! Selfish!"

They've been trapped by Bradley's deceit. In their heads there is only dinner and clubbing for free. They don't care if it hurts his heart! Injured his girlfriend!

Nadine was so afraid of losing her love. So afraid of abandonment. But just waiting is impossible. Gerdy will never come again. He has to take his love!
