Nadine smilingly looked at Idyla who was running towards her. How funny is he with a little bag on his back. The TK hat is attached transversely to the side. I don't know who taught me, not from home.
He was like looking at the shadow of a little Nadine at the scene before him. But instead of running around on the paving blocks coming out of a multi-storey building, in a rice field, take a mud bath.
The past is hard to forget. Especially if that part of the past is still left in life.
Every time he saw his daughter's clear gaze, for some reason, he found it difficult to cast off the shadow of someone who now had nowhere to go.
Often Nadine dissolved thinking about it. Poor his parents. Moreover, their relationship is getting better and better. Even Umi often brought Idyla to his home. And left alone even though he himself was not at home without Idyla by his side.
"Idyla is my granddaughter" Umi said one day. "Your mistake was not to bring it to me when my grandson was stricken."
"I'm sorry, Umi," said Nadine. "It was unthinkable before."
"There is no need to apologize" said Umi sage. "My mistake was not to accept you as a daughter-in-law so you were afraid to come to me. It's all happened and there's nothing to regret."
"I can't live without Idyla. I beg Umi to understand this."
"I understand very well," Umi's smile softly. "I can't possibly urge you to divorce your husband in order to stay at my house. So the middle ground, please allow Idyla to play with me. You don't mind, do you?"
Since Vishnu served in Bandung, practically at home lived his parents. Nadine understood how the sunyinya lived alone in a house that big, without laughter of grandchildren. Karlina's presence doesn't warm the house enough.
At first Umi did not agree Vishnu worked in Bandung. He wanted his son to take care of the estate alone, and get married soon. Karlina has got a pretty good position in a company. What else is waiting for?
"I do not want to get married before my brother is found" said Vishnu. "Gerdy's my only brother. He must witness the happiness of his sister."
Until this moment Vishnu never stopped looking for him. Every day he went around the city of Jakarta and did not despair even though his brother's footsteps were getting dark. He had intended to put an advertisement in the newspaper. But it's not a good idea, it's the same as exposing family secrets to the wider community, and not necessarily Gerdy read.
For that reason, Vishnu chose the service in the city of Bandung as well as looking for his brother. But Umi suspects that she is refusing the marriage by trying to find Gerdy. And somehow Nadine was worried.
"You want Karlina to be a spinster?" look at Umi sharply.
"He can find another man."
"He did it if he wanted to. The problem is that he just loves you."
"Why did Umi just talk love now?" vishnu Protest. "After I lost a brother. After Brother Nadine lived with another man. Idyla doesn't have to just stop by this house if Umi wakes up in the first place."
"Don't blame Umi." Nadine who happened to be picking up her son tried to cool the atmosphere. "I'm not wrong."
"Then I was wrong?"
"I'm both wrong" said Nadine slowly. "We are too proud of love."
"Love is great, but it is humiliated by those who have no respect for it, like Umi."
"So you feel good about appreciating love?" look at Umi stabbing. "Then why did you reject Karlina's love? What lack?"
"I'm not resisting, Umi."
"What's the name for procrastinating on a wedding?"
Nadine knows why Umi forced Vishnu to get married. He wanted to kill the sense of loneliness with the presence of a son-in-law, a grandson.
He had nothing to do but sit for hours in front of the television. Not going to the farm every day. Long stay at home eating. Most of the visitors are men of his age. Sometimes there are also those who dare to be insolent. Not served customer escape. If served, the effect is like a cheap woman.
But the presence of a son-in-law did little to kill his loneliness. Karlina is busy with work as her career progresses. Idyla is the only worthwhile escape and longing antidote to her missing child.
Bradley wouldn't mind seeing that development.
"Ityla is his granddaughter" Bradley comments when he catches Umi taking his stepson. "He's more worthy than I am."
"Thank you for understanding, Mom."
"Originally not just the mother who was carried," Bradley smiled softly.
Maybe her husband was just joking, not meaning anything. But his words were enough as a warning. If Nadine is too close to her former in-laws, it is not impossible one day if she meets Gerdy will forget to keep her distance. Was there any loyalty that could stem his betrayal back then?
"Call for your ex-husband?" bradley's reprimands saw Nadine standing still, watching the television that had been turned off for a long time. "Can't erase the past?"
Of course until whenever Nadine can not forget Gerdy. That man was once a part of his life. To make a promise in one heart. But what does it mean now? The flowers of love have fallen. And he didn't dare expect to spring back.
"I'm already your wife" Nadine said. "Would you think about it?"
"Only you know," Bradley's smile smooth. "And I believe you."
Nadine pretended to take a snack at the table, simply avoiding her husband's gaze. That gaze seemed to demand something that until this second could not be given completely. The love!
Bradley loved her so much. All the attention was devoted to making him happy. Trying to give your best, sometimes excessive, too indulgent.
She did not refuse when Nadine wanted to stay in her city. He was willing to go back and forth to Jakarta even though it was very tiring. But what does it give?
Nadine never treated like a husband. Helper as house queen. They take care of all their needs.
Sometimes Nadine felt guilty. Why abandon a husband as good as Bradley? He was already indebted to her, why was it still trying to disavow to pay him? Can't he forgive his mistakes?
Bradley just took advantage of the opportunity. He never set a trap to snatch it from Gerdy. Even if she doesn't intervene, Idyla might stay a bone!
If Bradley can't warm the bed, it's not his fault. He has been trying to do therapy, but has not experienced significant development for years.
After all, Nadine never questioned it, even though a wife does not just need abundant material.
"But again" Bradley lamented without feeling anything. "So my words were not heard?"
Nadine looked over with a wave. He asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Did Gerdy mean so much to you?"
"Mas!" nadine protests are fierce. "I'm your wife!"
"Then what are you thinking?"
"Why allowed?"
"We are guilty of trying to separate them. You said that yourself."
"But not to be a mind."
"Children must be the mind of parents" said Nadine. "What did you say?"
Bradley turned his head as if to make sure his wife was ready to listen, then said, "Mommy gave up the company to you. He wants to rest and stay with Papi in Yogya."
"Me?" Nadine slips. "Why not you alone?"
"I'm busy in Jakarta. Where is there time? After all, Mami wants you to manage."
"Your sister?"
"Ogi is half American. He'd rather take a doctoral program than go home."
"What did I say I'm a graduate?"
"Education is not important."
"Obviously important! I'm blind about business!"
"The company has many experts. You can count on them."
"And let them fool me? A month is held by me, the company can go bankrupt, Mas!"
"They can be trusted."
"I don't know just the people today! They can be trusted because there has been no chance of betrayal!"
"You can continue your studies while leading the company."
"Seek open a practice at the company? I'm a failed obstetrician!"
"A lot of successful people are not in their field. There's a will there's a way."
"Street broke."
"Don't be pessimistic."
"Thank you for one of them."
"Tell yourself to Mommy."
Nadine was not brave. Mama must be offended. His decision is the law. No one can break it.
Today Nadine was forced to go to Bandung because there was a handover event tomorrow morning. So he deliberately picked up Idyla early, all taking care of her son's move.
"Oh, what a beautiful Mama's son," praised Nadine as she grabbed Idyla into her arms. "Who put this hat on? Teacher's Mother?"
"I'm alone" said Idyla nimble.
"Smart Mama's son!"
"Ityla wants ice cream huh, Ma?"
"Where's the ice cream guy?"
"Don't buy it here, at what mall, Ma?"
"Can't, honey. Mama told me Mother Teacher today Idyla was leaving. Now we go to Oma's house."
Nadine opened the car door and sat Idyla in the front seat, then they left the school building.
Nadine did not have the heart to separate Idyla with her omanya. Between them there has been a very close relationship. And for a reason that he himself did not know, he so wanted Idyla to be recognized as his granddaughter.
If you can choose, Nadine would rather live in this small town. He was not tempted by all sorts of positions. She's a housewife, not a career woman.
"Where am I moving, Ma?" ask Idyla. "Why should I say yes to Oma?"
"Same Idyla Mama will live in the city that we visited last week with Papa. Idyla wants?"
"You! Want to!" cheer Idyla happy. "The chips are delicious!"
While turning the car into the yard of Umi's house, Nadine smiled and watched Idyla sing happily.
Ah, that kid is still too innocent to understand a breakup. He did not know that the following days there was no Oma accompanying the play. Who bought him dolls, snacks.
He did not know that he would lose some of his mother's attention. I spent many days with the maid. His mother's time was spent on office business.
And the little girl just followed by crying as Umi embraced her while shedding tears. He did not understand why he was crying.
"Frequently come here yes, dear," whispered Umi very heartwarming. "Oma will always miss you."
That woman deserves to be sad. He has lost his son. As she begins to accept Idyla's presence, she begins to cherish her, and she must lose her granddaughter. Oh, is there still a bend from a distance that stretches?
Nadine turned her face. Not until the heart sees it. He just shifted his gaze back when Umi asked, "When did he leave?"
"Now too."
Nadine sees Umi about to say something, but hesitates. He knows what the message is.
"I'll try to find him, Umi," Nadine's bitter smile. "I will try to return Gerdy to Umi's lap as my penance."
Nadine's departure to Bandung is not only to find her ex-husband, she also wants to find Katrin who reportedly lives in the city.
He wants to reunite his family. No matter how sinful Katrin is, she is her biological sister.
