Chapters 10. Maung Mountain

Three weeks after the forest fire, the village of Cikaret was devastated by the loss of some of their pet buffalo. According to residents who witnessed, the buffalo have been prey by tigers. The atmosphere of the village becomes gripping because of the terror of maung aka wild tigers who are ready to prey on them. Jaka Someh heard the incident from a resident he met while returning to his hut. The resident warned Jaka Someh,

“Jang heart!  there are maung who are wandering until entering the village, there are already three buffalo who become prey “

Jaka Someh became curious, he asked the person,

“Hungry to enter the village sir? Are there any casualties from the citizens ?”

He answered Jaka Someh's question,

“Iya maungya enter the village, jang. But fortunately only prey on livestock, until now the maung is still wandering, not yet caught, no one dared to catch him, which there instead we later in the prey “

After hearing the man's words, Jaka someh thanked him for being warned,

“Iya sir, thank you very much for the information. God willing I will be careful “

He went home to his home in Cikaret village. He hurriedly left Jaka Someh alone. Jaka Someh said in his heart,

“Koq tumben new now there maung get into the village residents?”

Jaka Someh became constantly thinking about that maung,

“Don't this be because of the forest fire the other day huh ?  yes, it seems that because of that, if the forest is damaged, of course the animals become homeless, some may be burned to death, some may be burned,  others who are still alive will move to find a new place to live and leave this forest, so that the number of animal populations will be reduced drastically,  so the maung was having trouble finding prey so desperate to enter the village residents, maybe because of hunger, wah can this danger “.

After thinking for a while, Jaka Someh resumed his journey towards the hut he loved so much.

Three days later, Jaka Someh got information again that there are now residents who have been in the prey maung. The resident died in tragic circumstances, his body torn apart. Some of his limbs have been lost, from his legs to the bottom of his stomach.  The atmosphere of the village became increasingly tense. The residents become wary of activities at night, they are afraid to fall prey to ferocious maung who are starving.

Jaka Someh was concerned about the state of the citizens. He also thought about how to catch the maung. Jaka Someh knows, this is actually the result of their mistakes as well who have dared to damage the sustainability of the forest, where the maung lives. Like rice has become porridge, however, now he must try to save the residents from the wild maung.

That day Jaka Someh did not go to his field. He chose to go to the outskirts of the forest to find traces of maung that entered the village. After tracing for a long time, Jaka Someh managed to find traces of the maung. After successfully getting the trail of maung, Jaka Someh then took the time to go home first to his hut. Bakda Isya Jaka Someh came back out of his hut, following in the footsteps of maung he had found. The plan is he'll stalk the maung. After being on the edge of the forest, Jaka Someh climbed a tall tree to observe the circumstances around him.

After patiently waiting, finally seen a maung is walking towards the village. His eyes seemed to shine in the darkness of the night. With a heart, Jaka Someh followed the maung. He went from one tree to another. After arriving at the village, the maung also began to go around looking for something that can be made prey. With a slow step, the maung walked towards the buffalo cage belonging to one of the residents.

The atmosphere was so quiet, not a single citizen dared to come out, they were afraid of becoming prey to maung who was starving. The buffalo approached by the maung looked agitated and frightened. Maung was walking sagging, he sniffed towards the back of the buffalo, which was larger than the body of the maung. Then with one jump, the maung immediately pounced and bit the buffalo's neck. The fateful buffalo was only able to moan, then collapsed to the ground with drenched blood due to the bite of the maung. Jaka Someh was amazed to see the incident. He was amazed by the maung power that was able to knock down the buffalo even though its size was not comparable to him.

Jaka Someh knows that it is not easy to knock down a buffalo. He once saw the man who slaughtered the buffalo and needed 10 energetic adults to successfully knock him down. Now he saw the maung knock him down quite alone with ease.

After the car died, the maung dragged him to a safe and hidden place so that he could be comfortable to eat it.  Jaka Someh then jumped up and approached the maung. The maung became shocked and angry, seeing that there were people who dared to disturb his dinner. The animal was directly hit Jaka Someh, but Jaka Someh who had prepared himself, immediately humbled his horses while egos, avoiding maung. Jaka Someh's eyes were eyeing the maung's neck earlier, after changing his body position, Jaka Someh immediately slashed the maung's neck with his sabetage.

Jaka Someh felt surprised because it turned out that maung was able to avoid the slash of his machete by slanting his body towards the back. Jaka someh was momentarily silent, looking towards the maung who was already preparing to pounce on him. Their eyes looked at each other.

Maung eyes were so sharp and shrunken guts. A moment later the maung again jumped towards Jaka Someh.  Jaka someh tried to greet him by swinging his machete towards the maung. Jaka Someh was shocked again, cold sweat suddenly coming out of his forehead. The maung turned out to be able to attack the hands of Jaka Someh with his claws. His bulge was slammed, with a severe wound on the wrist.

Blood is seen starting to pour from the hands of Jaka Someh. The maung also ferociously began to attack Jaka someh with a strike of his claws. Duag, Jaka Someh felt dislodged his heart was hit by a claw in his chest. He instantly flopped towards the back to lessen the effects of that maung attack.

His chest felt tight and painful as if it was overwritten by a tremendous amount of energy. His clothes look torn and there is blood on his chest due to the clawing of maung. Fortunately the wound was not too deep, because Jaka someh at that time still had time to plunge backward to avoid the clawing of maung. Jaka someh fell to the ground while enduring the incredible pain. Not lost his shock, the maung immediately jumped again towards the jaka someh who was still falling on the ground, preparing to pounce on him. Jaka someh is aware of death, he also said, saying,

“Astagfirulloh! “

While he tried to roll his body to the side to avoid the maung. With the remnants of his strength Jaka Someh tried to rise. He also re-installed his horses to prepare for the next maung attack. At first glance seen by him, his machete was lying not far from his right side. While his eyes remain vigilant against maung attacks, Jaka someh thought hard how to take the machete. His eyes slightly glanced towards the cleaver.

After a few seconds of looking at each other, the maung also resumed his attack, jumping towards the jaka someh. Jaka someh immediately avoided it by rolling to the right while trying to pick up his machete that was on the ground. Because it failed with his attack, the maung immediately attacked Jaka Someh by trying to pounce on Jaka Someh. Fortunately Jaka Someh has managed to take his machete. By installing low horses he immediately beat the machete towards the neck of the maung who was jumping to attack, bret, bret, bret, and more,

Sabetan cleavernya right on target. His sharpness had injured the neck of the maung who immediately slammed backward. He roared several times because of anger hit by a sabetage jaka Someh. Blood pouring from the neck of the maung. The maung tried to get up, but immediately fell back. The smell is also getting weaker. Moments later, the maung lay weakly drained of blood and began to die, finally he was rolled on the ground and died. Jaka Someh said to the dead maung while holding his wrist that was bleeding due to the clawing of the maung,

“Alhamdulillah Gusti, I almost became a victim of the violence of the Maung, Heumm, not in vain I trained the science of sabetrical cleaver during this “.

After looking at the carcass of the maung for a while, Jaka Someh said softly towards the carcass of the maung,

“I asked maap maung, I had to kill you to save the villagers here. I don't know how else to cripple you without having to kill?”.

Jaka Someh was saddened to have killed the maung. Then he made an inscription on the palm leaf that he placed on the body of a dead maung:

“TO ALL CITIZENS, THIS IS A LESSON BECAUSE IT HAS DAMAGED THE FOREST THAT IS HOME TO ANIMALS INCLUDING THIS MAUNG, HOPEFULLY GENTLEMEN, NO LONGER BURN THE FOREST CARELESSLY, HE SAID,  BECAUSE IF THE FOREST IS DESTROYED CAN CAUSE DISASTERS THAT WE CANNOT EXPECT LIKE THIS INCIDENT, THE DISASTER WE HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED IS ACTUALLY NOT MUCH,  IF NATURE IS ALREADY DAMAGED IT CAN CAUSE VARIOUS OTHER MAJOR DISASTERS SUCH AS LANDSLIDES, FLOODS, DROUGHTS AND STARVATION”.

As human beings who are given our minds, we are given the task by the Creator to manage this earth in order to remain always sustainable, so that we can use it sustainably,  for that we should not do damage to the environment just for economic reasons alone. Don't be lazy and greedy.

The next day the people of Cikaret village became excited because they saw the carcass of buffalo and maung covered in blood. They read the words written by Jaka Someh. Although they did not know who had written and killed the maung, they felt grateful and grateful to the mysterious helper. All citizens feel happy and grateful to have escaped the danger of a vicious maung that threatens their lives. They promised to never again destroy the forest.
