"Good, sir." After no more questions, the two left. The head nurse and Ken walked out of the room.
The hospital chief then turned to his daughter. "You heard what you wanted to hear, right? Now, you're gonna choose to work on what part?"
"Administration, Papa, so that I can keep meeting my friend, every day" said the woman a little shyly.
"OK." Making a child just his puppet was finally willing to work in the company alone was good news for the man. The rest he will see the seriousness of his daughter is working.
--------+++--------
Ken looked at the little boys. His memory goes back to the time where he lived in an orphanage first. He remembered Mimi. The little girl who always fulfills her days in the orphanage with Yumi and her other friends. Only the little girl was the one who kept him excited to go home. The little girl who always asks in the cradle every time she gets to the orphanage, after coming home from anywhere.
These small children are children who have serious diseases so that they are put in a special room to be treated with more attention. Ken was there in his white coat, comforting the children to keep them cheerful through his tough days.
"This is Sely's name, right?" The man showed the children a two-pointed hand puppet. He pointed to another male hand puppet, in the other hand. "If it's Simon."
Ken then started his puppet show. "Hello Sely!" greet the male doll on the yellow haired female doll.
"Hello too, Simon, " said the lady doll.
The man began to talk by changing his voice, from a woman's voice to a man's. Sometimes he would invite the children to talk to the doll and they would laugh. There were those who were even curious and touched the hand puppet out of anxiety.
"Oh .. some like Simon yes," Ken led on a little girl.
"Because Simon is so sweet" said the little girl who had bald hair. He covered his head with a knit hat.
The man laughed. "Yes, yes, you're absolutely right."
Ken didn't realize that someone was watching him from the glass wall in the room. A woman enters and turns out to be the mother of the little girl. The place is dominated by boys and only the child is a girl.
"Mommy!" yelled the girl.
"Oh, Brigitta, your mother's coming?" sahut the man.
The woman nods at Ken for wearing the white coat a doctor used to wear. "How's his health, doc?"
"Mmh, thank goodness. He really likes Simon" Ken said with a smile on his foreskin.
"Simon?" ask the woman confused.
"Here, Mommy! Simon's." The little bule girl carried a male hand puppet that the Japanese man had played earlier.
"Oh." The woman laughed.
Ken smiled broadly.
"Ken!"
The man looked. Lucille stood in the door frame waving her hand. Apparently he had been watching Ken from behind the glass wall, talking patiently to the seriously ill children. He enjoyed watching the man play with the children.
Ken couldn't help but get out of there, intending to let Briggita be with her mother. On the other hand, he instead had to meet Lucille who was already waiting for him at the door.
"You're so good, Ken. The children rarely visit except their parents" the red-haired woman said.
"Oh yeah? This is an expensive hospital. There should be volunteers coming to cheer them up."
"That's, Ken. Try to stay and be a doctor. You might be able to attract people to come and be famous."
Of course it's impossible and Lucille knows it. Ken just stared at the woman for a moment and then left.
"Where are you going? It's lunchtime soon, Ken," said Lucille, who then tried to match the man's steps.
"I'm going to the nurse's room, I'm going to check the surgery schedule."
Ken stopped for a second. He was thinking about how to get away from this woman. "Please, I'm at work. Please, don't bother me" he said, pressing his tone.
"But it's lunchtime, Ken. Why not eat first?" Lucille is no less persistent persuasion. He felt wrong because it was time to rest soon.
"Lucille, I .... "
The woman immediately showed the plastic package she was carrying. "Look, I have a nice sandwich and a mainstay orange juice from this hospital canteen. You like orange juice, don't you? Come, eat. You don't have a job anymore, do you?"
Ken was eager to resist, but he had no good reason for it. He let out a slow sigh as he dragged his feet away following the woman. Lucille took him to lunch in the park.
The woman chose a place that looked at the trees and was a little far from where people passed by. There was a long bench and he took the man to sit there.
Lucille sat down first then Ken. He handed out his sandwiches and drinks in the chair. "I know you like orange juice, that's why I bought it."
The man took his share and unwrapped the sandwich. He started eating it.
"Enak' right?"
Ken nodded. He then looked at the trees and plants in front of him. Lucille knew that the man always looked the other way when he was with her, so he looked for a good view so that he could be comfortable with her. He opened the lid of the purchased orange juice bottle, and gave it to Ken.
"Mmh, no need," said the man when he found out the woman opened the bottle cap, but it was already gone.
"It's okay." Lucille then bites her sandwich.
Both of them looked towards the same plant in front. The woman followed in which direction the man looked.
"Lucille, I ...."
"Do you like working here?"
Ken stopped chewing and looked. He quickly finished the food in his mouth."
"Lucille, I ..," said Ken quickly but was cut back by the woman.
"My question isn't hard, Ken. Just answer me."
"I-I like working here of course, but that's not the case. I want to ...."
"You're too serious, Ken. Try to relax a little because your work is heavy for everyday life" she explained casually.
"Lucille, why are you ...." Ken tried to explain many times but the woman always cut her words.
"Ken, let everything be what it is. I like you even if you don't. 'And I didn't hurt you with this" said Lucille lightly.
"The problem ...."
This time it was the sound of the long siren that cut off the man's speech. Both of them looked towards the hospital building.
"What's that?" ken asked confusedly.
The woman looked. "Oh, you don't know yet? That's a sign of a big job. All health staff should get ready for the hard work."
"What?" The man looked at Lucille.
"There may be a major accident or fire."
Hearing that, Ken hurried to his feet. He finished his meal by sipping orange juice. Then he ran into the building.
