Wizard Runners

Wizard Runners
Chapter 7's

Several days had passed since their meeting with

the bandits, and despite his earlier words, Master Joko still hasn't

start teaching Aev magic.

Every time he asked Mr. Joko when they would

start practicing, the answer is the same: “Soon.”

After a week, Aev began to lose hope.

Then, one morning, when Aev started his morning practice

with a sword, suddenly Master Joko stopped him.

“Not today,” said the man. “Today, you set up

your first step on the road to becoming a wizard”

Aev immediately felt a smile appear on his face. “Stays

we start?” he asked, barely able to contain his excitement.

“Now,” replied Mr. Joko. He produced two scrolls

from his robe, which he handed over to Aev. “First, learn this.”

Aev sat down, then took one of the scrolls and opened

the scroll.

Soon, his face became sour. The scroll is full of

writing, but using strange symbols he had never seen

preceding.

“I don't know how to read this,” he said. She's half

hoping that Mr. Joko announces that before Aev can learn magic, he

first of all must learn the strange language of the scroll.

Aev's heart sank into that thought. If he has to learn

reading a new language would take months if not years

before he could start learning magic.

“It's magic, not literature,” said Mr. Joko with a smile.

“Do you understand the symbol does not matter. As long as you focus

attention, you will issue the magic contained in the scroll.”

Aev breathed a sigh of relief.

He lay down, and started to work. Folding rolls on

in front of him, he began to focus on strange symbols.

Almost instantly, he could feel a strange tingling in the

his mind, like an itch behind his head. As with every symbol

he checked, some small changes happened in him, even though he didn't

I can tell you what the change is.

It took him several hours to complete the scroll

firstly. When he finished studying the last symbol on the scroll, it was,

the tingling feeling in his mind disappeared and the scroll was crushed in

her hands.

Aev looked at Mr. Joko warily. He still remembers what

that happened when he was tested at the Academy. Seeing the scroll collapse, he

afraid that something might go wrong again.

Master Joko just looked at him, a calm expression on his face.

“Very good,” said. “You have completed the first one.

Rest, then proceed to the second.”

Aev did as Mr. Joko said. Subsequent to

taking food from the carriage, he sat down again. When he ate, he tried

I felt something change in him.

He was disappointed not to find anything out of the ordinary. If

reading the scroll had done something, he was unable to sense it.

He was a little discouraged, but he put everything aside

thoughts of failure when he moved to the second scroll.

Again, he began to learn. Symbols in reels

it is different, but whether there is a different meaning in it, Aev cannot

saying it.

Again, he felt a strange sensation in his mind when he

carefully traced the scroll, and again, the scroll shattered when

he's reaching the end.

After finishing with the second roll, Aev once again

trying to feel if something has changed in him.

He closed his eyes, then focused his attention inwardly,

trying his hardest to feel something magical inside him.

Nothing happened .

“Try to see if it works?” Mr. Joko asked,

laughingly.

“Something's supposed to happen, right?” Aev asked doubtfully.

“Something did happen,” Mr. Joko said in response.

“You just obtained two new Realms, Fire and Shadow,”

Aev's confused. “But I don't feel anything,” he said.

Mr. Joko nodded. “It's pretty normal. Usually, students

it would take years if not decades of study and meditation

before they can sense and access their Nature.

Aev's face changed. Years, or even tens

true.

“But we don't have much time,” said Mr. Joko. “In

your case, I will use a shortcut.”

“You have a faster way?” Aev asked expectantly.

“Of course.” Mr. Joko took something from his robe,

raised it. It was a jet black pill the size of a marble.

“What is it?” Aev asked, hesitating in his voice. Temporal

he liked the idea of skipping years of training, there was something that

vaguely unnatural about the appearance of the pill, as if it did not belong

this world.

“This is the Pill KB Realm,” replied Mr. Joko.

“Revelation Opening Pill?” Aev furrowed his brows. “Not

I just opened two Realms?”

“You obtained two Realms,” said Mr. Joko. “What

doing those scrolls is creating a small connection between you

and that Nature. This pill will tear that connection apart, strengthen it and

allows you to draw Essence through them,”

Aev frowned. Word ‘tear’ not much

convinced him. “What is this dangerous?” He asked .

“You will feel a little discomfort because of the pills

work,” replied Mr. Joko. “In addition, it is very safe.”

Reluctantly, Aev stuffed the pill into his mouth,

forcing myself to swallow it.

A few moments passed without Aev noticing anything.

Then, slowly, he began to feel the warmth spreading throughout

his body.

“It's not so—” When he started talking, suddenly

the heat within his body increased, as if the blood in his veins had been replaced

with boiling water.

While shouting loudly, he turned towards Mr. Joko,

his face crooked in pain as he tried to tell the man that there was

something is very wrong. But the pain flooded him, causing

his muscles cramp and spasm to the point where he finds himself unable to

forming words.

Trying to beg for help, he extended a trembling arm

towards Mr. Joko.

Mr. Joko did not respond. Instead, he just stared at Aev

calmly, watching him with an interested look.

The pain was unlike anything Aev had ever experienced

before, and it kept getting stronger every time it passed. Every time he

thinking it couldn't possibly get any worse, he quickly discovered

that he was wrong.

Not long after that Aev finds himself completely out of

able to move, his muscles locked with sadness. What he can do

it is lying on the ground and enduring the torment.

At first, he was afraid that he was dying. Immediately, when the pain

the stronger and the stronger, he hoped he would die any – for

stopped suffering.

How long it lasted, he doesn't know. Could be

hours, or days, or even weeks of – for Aev, taste

the pain never seems to end.

Finally, his mind could not hold on anymore. World

it became dark, and his consciousness vanished.

———

Aev wakes up in shock, looking at the stars above him

in the night sky. His body trembled, and for a moment, his mind

totally empty.

Then, he remembered.

“Basically you *******!”, He yelled angrily, saw

around to see where Mr. Joko is. When he found the man, he

growling furiously.

“You!” He extended his hand towards the man. “You

telling me—”

At that moment he was silent. A small flame appeared on the palm

her hands.

Enraged instantly forgotten, Aev stared foolishly towards

the fire that came out of his hand.

“What is this..?”

“Congratulations,” says Mr. Joko. “You used magic.”
