Wizard Runners
Chapter 22's

“Is that a Pill KB Realm?” Aang Feng said, staring in astonishment at the black pill

the little Master Joko held in his hands.

Aev frowned. Again, he found that he knew more

more about the world of magic than he.

“Ya,” replied Mr. Joko.

“So that's how you do it!” Aang Feng looked at Aev as if he was

finally found the answer. “That's how you open your Wind Wind with

so fast!”

Aev didn't fix it. Although he had not used the Opening Pill yet

Realm for his Wind Realm, Aang Feng did not know about his forbidden Realm.

Looking somewhat arrogant, Aang Feng turned his attention back to the pill.

“Is this as painful as they say?” he asked, a little

worry appeared in his voice.

“It was bad,” said Aev honestly. “I fainted from pain when I

pick it up,”

Aang Feng nodded while thinking. Then, he reached out to Mr. Joko, who,

who gave up the pill.

“I think I'll find out,” he said. Without hesitation, he took the pill

it was in his mouth and swallowed it.

For a moment they sat quietly, waiting. Then, Aang Fengs face began

twisting in discomfort.

“It looks like there is a fire flowing in my veins,” he said. There was a little trembling

in his voice now.

Soon after, he started moaning, and his face was crooked and wrinkled

as his body stiffened from the sadness. As the moans get louder and

his face was getting crooked, it was clear that he was in a lot of pain.

“Make ... Stop ..” That voice barely even sounds like Aang

Feng again, and his eyes were wide but unreasonable, as if he could not

again, see the world around him.

“Will he be okay?” Aev asked. He has a dispute

with Aang Feng, but seeing him in such a condition still made him

apprehensive.

“Almost certainly,” said Mr. Joko. He doesn't seem to care, though

his words did little to ease Aev's worries. Of what

the man said there was a definite risk.

“But enough of it.” Master Joko made a movement with his hands, and Aang Feng

When Aev looked at him, he still appeared as if he was shouting, but

no sound came out of his lips.

“I have made a barrier,” Mr. Joko explained. “We can't

again heard it, and he can no longer hear us – even though I

suspicious now, he wouldn't understand even if he heard.”

“Alright,” Mr. Joko continues. “There are things we should discuss.

There's a question you need to answer, and I have some questions

alone,”

Aev surprised. Mr Joko has a question for him?

“To start,” says Mr. Joko, “we should discuss your past.”

“My past?” A feeling of foreboding filled Aev.

“You told me that after your father's death, you decided to

come to the Academy to be a witch,” said Mr. Joko. “But how

with the people who killed him?”

Aev hesitates. “The guards ..” he started.

“Do not lie,” said Mr. Joko. “You're a bad liar, and I

a good listener. If you lie, I'll know,”

Aev sighed. Then, he started talking.

“Riverbend poor. Quite poor even some wealthy families struggled

to provide land for their sons. Because of this, young people often

take a job as a caravan guard or mercenary, to

save enough coins to buy their own farm and get married,

many of them never came back.

“Others chose the easier way, robbing traveling merchants and

caravans. They don't usually kill their victims, but it makes

the area is dangerous for travelers. The guards know about it,

of course, but those bandits were locals and their victims people

they are strangers, so they often close their eyes.

“The bandits who killed my father are in such a group. My dad

was a guard, and during the patrol, they found a group of bandits

from them released the arrow that hit my father. ”

Aev fell silent, once again remembering what had happened.

” Continue, “said Mr. Joko.

After a while, Aev did what the man said.

“The shot may not have been meant to kill, therefore

take it on the leg. But the wound failed to heal, and it became infected. Need

a few weeks, but ..”

Aev gulped before continuing.

“After he died, I want revenge. So I tracked the

bandits. I found them hiding in an abandoned farm around

three days drive from Riverbend. There were about two dozen, mostly children

local men. But when I told the guards, they refused

to act. ”

” Then what are you doing? ” Mr. Joko asked, leaning body to

ahead while listening carefully.

“I killed them,” the confession came easier than the one

thought Aev. This was the first time he had told anyone, but

he did not feel the panic or guilt he expected.

“You're up against two dozen bandits? By yourself?”

Aev shook his head. “Not like that. I'm not fighting them.

I killed them.”

“How do you do it?” Mr. Joko asked.

“I went to the farm, then waited until night,” Aev said. “They

had a drink that night, and they only sent one guard. My arrow carried it

down throat. A lucky shot, but he died before he could

shouting.”

“After that, I barricaded the door from outside. When they fall asleep, they,

I burned that field. Some people managed to escape the fire,

I shoot with my bow. The other ... “Aev stopped, remembering the screams

that he heard that night. “Others burned alive.”

With that, Aev fell silent. For a while, the two did not speak.

“Are you sorry?”

Aev shook his head. “They are responsible for death

my dad, everything.” After a while, he added, “You must have thought

I'm monster.”

“Monster? To avenge your father?” Mr. Joko laughed cheerfully.

“If you don't do anything, I'll think you're a coward.

Now ... Now, I think you might have a chance.

” Aev confused.

Mr. Joko sighed. “To be honest, until now, I had doubts

aboutyou. Aside from your forbidden Realm, you are not extraordinarily talented. Don't

misunderstand me – you have a talent for magic and swordsmanship, but it's not

something extraordinary. ”

Mr. Joko's harsh words sting, but Aev knows it's true.

Amar's mastery with the sword can only be called phenomenal, and though

aev's best efforts, he can't compare. Aang Feng, meanwhile,

it seems to have an almost unnatural mastery over magic,

control it like a master painter controls his brush.

Compared to him, Aev was like a child hanging paint on

canvases.

“But despite your limitations, you killed two dozen bandits even

before ever touching magic.” To Aev's surprise, Mr. Joko nodded

agree. “With that, you may not yet have the chance to face

Academy and escape with your life.”

“So now how?” Aev asked. Painful memories are fresh

in his mind, he was only slightly interested in Teacher Joko's praise.

“Now, there are things you need to know,” said Mr. Joko. “Hal-hal

that will determine your future. Some of them, I want to rest

till later. But, we should discuss it now.”

“Why now?” Aev asked. Even though he didn't want to miss

the opportunity to answer some of his questions, he wondered why

Mr. Joko suddenly wanted to talk. To this day, the man shows

little interest in learning about Aev's past, and even less in

answerthe question.

“Because tomorrow,” Mr. Joko said, “I'll go.”
