Wizard Runners
Chapter 16's

Aev looked at the monastery in wonder. From where he stood, it looked

like miniatures.

The journey up the mountain has taken them to the best part of the morning, and

now, they were on the side of the mountain, a thousand feet above the monastery and the city.

The sight amazed Aev. It was like standing on top of the world.

“No fear of heights, right?” Student Bula grinned. That young man

navigating a narrow mountain road with eerie omissions, and

several times, Aev was sure he would plunge into the depths below.

“I've never been this tall,” said Aev. “It ...” He doesn't have

words to describe how he felt.

“You will get used to it,” Student Bula said with a smile.

Student Aang secretly glared at them. Since Master Usep came to

take it and Student Bula away from the other students, the atmosphere

his heart went bad, and his condition worsened when the man

she refused to tell him why he was disrupting his training.

“Master Usep, how much more should we travel?” he asked .

“We have to arrive anytime now,” said Master Usep. When they go up

to the mountain, the worry he had shown earlier that morning was gradual

disappeared, and now, she looked just as cheerful as ever.

They followed one more turn on the mountain path, ducking down below

several trees protruding from the side of the mountain above the road. Footpath

turning sharply, and as he stepped on the turn, Aev was surprised to see

little valley.

The valley was grassy and scattered with great trees, and in the

the middle of the river flows a small river. Among the grasses, flowers were blooming,

and all around the valley were majestic snowy peaks stretching to the

sky direction.

The only thing that ruined the beauty of the valley was the small wooden cabin.

The walls and roof were bent, and there was a crack in the wall. Overall, that's

looks like it's on the verge of falling apart.

“This,” said Master Usep, pointing towards the valley, “is where I go

to lift my spirits. For you, that's where you'll spend

next months training.”

“We will stay here for months ?!” Student Aang immediately

asked, his face pale.

“True,” says Master Usep.

“But why?” Student Aang said, a look of despair on his face.

“First bring your bag inside,” says Master Usep. “Then, I

will explain why you are here.”

“We stay there?” Aev asked, pointing towards the cabin.

“Beautiful, right?” Master Usep said. “I built it myself,

using my own two hands. It took me three weeks to do a good job and

truthfully. Doesn't involve a little magic.”

The proud expression on his face made the students not say anything,

and they took their package to the cabin.

Up close, it looked worse than from a distance, and Aev

finds himself worried that everything could collapse at any moment because

mere tribulation.

“Now,” Master Usep says. “Why are you here .

best explanation is small demonstration.”

He planted a small wooden pole on the ground.

“LearningJin, please show them,”

Aev gathered his Wind Essence, then sent it to the pole. When

Essence attacked, it tore the pole off the ground and sent it flying

a few steps, as if it had been hit by a boulder.

Student Aang gasped for breath, and when Aev turned around, he saw the mouth of the student

Bula was shocked.

“That's impossible!” Student Aang said. “She just went to open

Wind Wind Realm a week ago!”

“LearningJinopened his Wind Realm yesterday,” said Master Usep. “As the

You see, the progress is faster than usual.”

“Excellent!” Student Bula said, grinning excitedly. “Brother Shun

Jin, please teach me your secret!”

However, Aang's student looked frightened. “He did that in a day?

Academy ... If they find this ..”

“Learnf Aang is right too,” said Master Usep with a serious expression.

“Academy cannot find out about student talentJin. If they

doing so, they will definitely come for him.”

“But why show us?” Student Aang asked. “For that,

why show anyone?”

“Because StudentJin must learn to handle his Natural Wind, and how to

best to do it is through practice.” Master rubs

his throat, then continue, “Over the next few months, you guys

the three of them will be training together. You and Student Bula will help StudentJinstudy

controlling his Wind Essence. When you get back to the convent, he should

learn enough not to attract too much attention. “

obstructing their training?” He thought they would stay here for as long as

one or two weeks at most. Now he knows it's going to be months, though,

he felt guilty about Student Aang and Student Bula, who would be trapped

here with him.

In the corner of his eyes, he could see the eyes of student Aang light up. Seems

he has the same thought.

“Not at all,” replied Master Usep. “If there is, it will help

their training. By instructing the others, one can obtain

a stronger understanding of basic techniques. It is especially useful for people

young witches who ignore the basics in their rush to

learn more advanced techniques.”

He glanced at Student Aang, who looked extremely angry.

“Of course, not only that,” Master Usep adds while grinning.

“The next few months will also give you the perfect opportunity to

start learning Windblade.” spells

Instantly, Aang's Initiation expression changed. “You let us learn

Windblade?”

Master Usep nodded. “You and Student Bula have advanced far enough to

start learning spells, and Windblade has always been one of my favorites. I

think it should fit you both quite well. In the cabin, you

you will find two copies of the complete manual. ”

” Thank you, Master Usep! ” Student Bula said, smiling so wide

his face looks like it's going to split in two.

Master Usep turned to Aev. “Before I leave, there is one more thing ..”

“What's up?” Aev asked.

“Learner Aang, Student Bula, please help me give a demonstration of what

which will be learned by StudentJin the next few months.”

With that, he raised the wooden training sword, and Student Bula with

excited to do the same. Aang students follow their example

a few moments later.

Student Bula was the first to attack Master Usep, attacking with

a series of ferocious blows were so fast that Aev could barely see

them.

Instantly, Aev was amazed.

Now that he had Wind Wind, he could sense Wind Essence, and he

can see that Student Bula used Essence to improve

his swordplay, aimed it at his sword in a small gust for

makes attacks faster, while at the same time annoying

his. opponent attack.

The exchange lasted only a few breaths before Master Usep hit the Student

Bulla. But after that short show, Aev already understood that how

the little confidence he had in his magic ability was hopeless.

The amount of Essence used by Student Bull was much smaller than

which Aev could draw, but he handled it with far more skill

a lot of. Next to Starting a Bula technique, his was not even worth mentioning.

As Aev pondered this, Student Aang attacked Master Usep. Where is

student Bula's attack was fierce and powerful, Studif Aang was complicated and

intentional, involving movements that seem to defy the laws of physics.

Again, Aev was surprised. A moment ago he was stunned by the Student skill

Bulla, but now, she saw that Student Aang's skill was at a level

which is completely different.

His swordplay by itself was only slightly better than Aev's,

but with every move, he used Essence to direct and

controlling his sword while also fending off and slowing down the attack

his opponent. As a result, it was as if he was holding a half dozen swords at a time

the same, all attack with skill and speed that do not

humanly.

Apart from Aang's astonishing Learnf skill, he was also

defeated in just a few exchanges, although he survived a little more

long time from Student Bula.

Aev's confused. “Master Usep, how do you beat them without

using Essence?” During the entire fight, he had never sensed the Master

Usep uses a little Essence.

“But I did,” Master Usep said with a laugh. “Without it, I

worried I won't survive a single exchange with the two of them.”

“Then why can't I feel it?” Aev asked.

“The more control a mage has, the less Essence

it will leak when he uses the technique. At my level, the Essence is wasted

it's not enough for students like you to feel it.”

Aev nodded in understanding, suddenly wondering what his technique was like

alone to another witch.

“Now, Students, spend these months well. I would

come occasionally to bring food and check your progress, so don't

lazy.”

With that, Master Usep left, leaving the three students behind.
