Wizard Runners

Wizard Runners
Chapter 3

Aev sat in the room of the Black Angel Room, playing the game

stone with one of the girls, cute brunettes with a face

mottled.

“I won again,” he said while giggling.

He handed the copper to her. “Other games?” he asked, 'em,

and he nodded with great enthusiasm. Some girl in Black Angel will be

objection getting one or two copper easy.

The first day he spent in his room, afraid to be seen

allowing the Academy to find it easier. Caught between fear

and bored, he spent the day with fear and worry, and no

a long time later the little room felt like a prison cell.

Finally, boredom wins out of fear, and he heads

to the room with the inn.

The next few days he spent playing

stone and card games with the girls. He lost everything except

several matches, but he welcomed the interruption it – should not

thinking about the danger he was experiencing easily was worth a few grips

coppers.

It had been three days since his visit to the Academy, and Mr. Joko

still haven't shown up. Another day, and he'll be gone.

He still remembers Master Joko's thoughts about Aev's possibility

to run away alone, and the thought of setting out alone is not

that's fun. If the man was right, it meant that he was already almost destroyed.

Sighing, he forced himself to

leave that thought. Worrying now would be useless for him.

“You drink again?” he asked the brown-haired girl

that, and he agreed with pleasure.

He walked to the bar. “Please, another glass of beer and wine

prem.” The barmaid gave him a warm smile as she put some down

copper, then gave him a drink.

With no danger of his coin running out, Aev has been generous

the heart of these last few days, which quickly won him a friendship

girls in Black Angel – friendships that will last exactly during

money, thought.

When he moves to turn around and walk back to

his desk, he hit a big guy, half of a beer glass in his mug

spilled over on the man's shirt.

Looking up, he immediately felt a problem.

The man was a mercenary who had

he saw two nights earlier, a drunkard trying to start some

fights with other customers. If the man were not generous

with his coin, Aev suspects the guard will chase him away long ago.

“Sorry about that,” says Aev fast. “Let me

buy you drinks.”

“Drink?” The square face of the mercenary was rotating inside

cruel grin. “You think I'll let you be that easy?”

Before Aev could answer, the mercenary's hand

swinging towards him. It was only through sheer luck that he managed to avoid it.

If the man had not spent most of the afternoon drinking, there was

little doubt in Aev's mind that he will be hit right in the face.

The man stepped forward, and with all his might, Aev

throw a punch at him. He's not a fighter, but he won't just be

stand there and let the guy hit him.

To his surprise, his fist was connected with a loud sound

when it hit the mercenary's face. Instantly, blood spurted from the nose

the man, and he staggered back a few steps.

“Children't ******non-bloodless!” the mercenary

shouting, his left hand grabbed his face. “You broke my nose! You will

pay for this!”

Aev was surprised to see the mercenary draw his sword,

a sword full of battle scars. His own hands immediately

shoot into the sword beside him, only to find it missing.

While cursing softly, Aev remembered that he had

he left his sword in his room. He stepped back, afraid of filling himself

when the mercenaries advanced towards him.

As the mercenary raised his sword, a bitter smile

formed on the lips Aev. With the Academy hunting him down, he would die like this,

in a bar fight?

At that moment, a blond-haired man suddenly

step forward. Aev had never seen him, and he guessed the man was certain

entered the inn a moment ago.

“You dare attack my nephew ?!”

Before the mercenaries could react, the hands of men

the blond-haired darted forward, grabbing the mercenary's arm

sickening the mercenary's arm was broken like a twig.

As the mercenary arm fell limp to his side, the sword

clanging to the ground. He screamed in pain, but the voice suddenly

it was cut off when the blond man's fist hit his head, sending him sprawling

the floor.

In an instant, the inn became silent, all eyes fixed

on the blond guy who just defeated a mercenary with

so easy. Only the moans of the mercenary pain cut through the silence.

The blond man walked towards the bar and slapped

a handful of silver on the table. “Prepare your best room for me!”

He turned towards Aev, then spoke loudly, saying,

“Nice to see you again, nephew!”

Aev stared blankly at the blond man in front of him.

He had never seen her before in his life. He doesn't have either

uncle, in this case.

“Siapa—” she started.

The man stepped towards Aev. “Hug of your uncle Emus!”

Before Aev could dodge, the man had grabbed him, pulling him up close.

“Play,” hisses into Aev's ears.

Release Aev, he calls the bartender, “Bring me two

good beer glass.” After a brief pause, he added, “And two girls

beautiful too!”

With that, he grabbed Aev's shoulder and pulled him to the table

empty in the corner of the recreation room.

“I think you have failed to get into the Academy?” he said with

loud noises as they sit.

Aev was aghast, but he kept answering, “Ya.” He thinks

Mr. Joko must have sent the man, so he followed his lead.

“Can you believe this little boy ran off to join

with those fucking witches?” the blond man said loudly

to the two men sitting at the table next to them. They laugh awkwardly

in response, obviously not to get involved.

“No more magic bullshit for you, son.” That man

turn his attention to Aev. “After tonight we will return to

caravans. Get an honest job for you.”

The waiter arrived, carrying two beers. Behind her

followed by two girls, an uncertain look on their faces.

The blond man handed the silver coin to the

the barmaid, then turned one over for each of the girls as well. With

soon their faces became bright.

“Well, let's have a drink. We go early in the morning.” Him

pulled one of the girls into his lap,

What followed was several hours of torture

pure for Aev.

Talking as if he wanted the entire inn

listen, ‘pamannya’ tell story after story, half of them story

shameful from Aev's childhood.

That every story is fake and shameful, no

providing a lot of comfort for Aev, and he feels his face flushed when

the two girls laughed at his misfortune.

A drop of coin constantly keeps the beer flowing and

the girls giggle, and when night falls, the beer affects Aev. Finally,

he felt like he was going to fall.

Finally, the blonde-haired man announced

loud voice, “That's it, boy! Sleep time. We leave at dawn.”

With that, he stood up, handing the girls over

many silvers before waving their hands. They produce more

more coins that night than they usually get in a month, and

their faces glowed happily.

As the man walked out of the recreation room and

climbing the stairs, Aev staggered behind him, his head crashing

beverage.

When the man reached the door of his room, he saw

around quickly, then pulled Aev with him.

Once they were inside, the man was wordless

reaching forward with his hand and putting two fingers on Aev's forehead. Before Aev

being able to react, a jolt of pain ran through his body, and his gaze became

blurry.

When the pain subsides moments later, suddenly

he found himself completely conscious.

“Sorry about that,” said the man, sounding no small

sorry too. “You better be aware of what happens next.”

“Who are you?!” Aev finally called out.
