The Wife of the King's Pay

The Wife of the King's Pay
Chapter 62 Against the Heart

For an instant, Alvian recalled Fendi's words at the bar. Her bastard cousin had warned her not to get too close to Cleantha. Because the closeness between men and women has the potential to foster feelings that are forbidden.

At first he thought Fendi was just boasting and talking nonsense. But his warning proved true.

"After Cleantha regains consciousness, I need to get out of here. From now on I have to keep my distance from him. Lest I end up being an immoral traitor like Fendi,"

thought Alvian made up her mind.

Alvian was about to leave Cleantha for a moment. Restore his sanity that had been lost for a split second.

But he stopped because he saw Cleantha open her eyes.

"Where is this?" cleantha asked around.

"You're in the hospital, Clea. You just passed out at the hotel," said Alvian, acting as appropriate as possible.

Cleantha looked at Alvian with a blank look.

"Sir, what time is it? I have to get out of here" Cleantha said, trying to get out of bed.

"It's eleven o'clock past thirty minutes. You just regained consciousness from fainting and you still have a fever. There's no way you're going to get out of the hospital."

"But, sir, I have to work. I'm going to the office. Otherwise I would have been fired and lost my job" Cleantha said anxiously.

"You can't work in this feverish, weak state. Who's gonna fire you anyway? I am the leader of the finance division. No one can fire you but me" Alvian assured Cleantha.

"Now lie down again, I'll call the nurse to check on you."

Not long after, the nurse came to check on Cleantha.

"In a moment I'll take a sample of Miss's blood. Please have lunch first and take the medicine," said the nurse walking away.

Alvian picked up a tray of food and handed it to Cleantha.

"Clea, eat. I'm gonna call Mr. Darma to send a waitress here to accompany you."

"Sir, wait," said Cleantha preventing Alvian.

"Why?"

"Don't call the Lord King's servant. Soon I will get out of here and back to my house" Cleantha insisted.

Alvian took a deep breath. He did not understand why Cleantha was so stubborn.

"You heard what the nurse said. You will have a blood test and wait for the results. It's impossible to go home so soon. And why are you coming home? Doesn't Keyla want to accept you?"

"My brother will definitely accept me because I have made up my mind. I will ask for a divorce from Lord King after he returns home from vacation. And the time is tomorrow" said Cleantha steadily.

"Clea, you might say that. You don't think about your husband's feelings? Talk to Raja with a cold head. Maybe if the two of you come over well to see your father and Keyla, they can accept your marriage."

Cleantha shook her head.

"No, Sir. I know my family better than my father. I also dreamed of meeting my mother. He hugged me lovingly. Makes my heart peaceful and calm. Therefore I am more convinced that now is the time for me to return."

Alvian gasped at Cleantha's statement. How could he have said if it was actually him who hugged the girl to calm her down.

"I won't argue with you anymore. I'm still gonna call Mr. Darma. Once you are allowed out of the hospital, you must return to the King's house."

Alvian reached for her phone to contact Mr. Darma, but Cleantha suddenly held her hand.

"I beg you, sir. Don't call the waiter here. If you want to go home, leave me. I can take care of myself" Cleantha said insisting.

Alvian did not expect Cleantha to be begging him like that. Rather than cause a commotion in the hospital, Alvian finally relented and put down his phone.

"As far as you are. You're an adult and I have no right to rule you. I can only remind you not to regret it later. Now eat," said Alvian sitting by Cleantha's bed.

Cleantha put a few spoonfuls of food into her mouth. All of the food was tasteless, a picture of his life at the moment.

He was not sure if the King would be that easy to let go. The nature of her husband is hard to guess. Sometimes he is so kind, but at other times he seems temperamental and without compassion.

There was worry in Cleantha's heart. What if the King asks for all the money back with the help he has given. With what he can pay.

In a state of broken charcoal, Cleantha suddenly got a glimmer of hope. That's not wrong, Alvian Adhiyaksa. Only the man can help her out of the strange problems that are entangling her.

With a sharp look, Cleantha dropped a glance at Alvian.

Alvian furrowed his brows.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't have any money, sir. If Lord King asks me to return the hundred million, I will apply for a loan to the office. And only you as the director of finance have the right to approve."

Cleantha inched closer. Without thinking of shame, he held Alvian's hand. As if pinning the last hope on his boss and sister-in-law.

"If that time comes, I beg you to grant my request. If necessary I will kneel before the Father until the Father gives his consent" Cleantha said with a pleading gaze.

Again Alvian was caught in a dilemma because of Cleantha. It was impossible for him to give a hundred million so that his own brother would divorce his wife. If so, he is an ungodly brother.

But if he refused firmly, then it is likely that Cleantha will be more desperate and reckless. And somehow he didn't want to see Cleantha continue to grieve and get hurt. He would rather see Cleantha as sweet, innocent, and a little careless as ever.

"I can't allow myself to be like this. I've been going crazy for a long time. Today I was near Cleantha. Tomorrow when King's brother comes home, I will do my utmost to prevent their divorce."

"I can't answer it now. Because I'm sure King's sister will never divorce you" Alvian replied to Cleantha.

"There was no problem in Miss Cleantha's blood test results" the doctor told Alvian.

"Doctor, can I be allowed to go home now? I already feel healthy," asked Cleantha forcefully.

"If Miss wants to go home I welcome. But for the next two days, Miss should rest. Don't work hard and avoid stress" the doctor said before walking away from Cleantha.

Along with that, Keyla came to the hospital. He gave a cold look to Cleantha.

"Why did you faint, Clea? Lest you get pregnant," Keyla asked expressionlessly.

"Cleantha fainted because you put too much pressure on her. You should have protected your brother, not added to the problems in his life" Alvian said.

Keyla reluctantly responds to Alvian's insinuations. He focused more on Cleantha.

"I came here because I wanted to see how you were doing. I'd like to ask if you've made your decision?"

Cleantha grabbed her brother's hand.

"Yes, Brother. Tomorrow I will go home to the Lord King's house and ask for a divorce from him. I-i promise. Now let me go home with Brother."

"Good, then let's go home," Keyla asked with a happy smile.

Alvian wanted to prevent Cleantha's departure, unfortunately he felt he had no power to do so. His phone suddenly rang.

"Mama?"

muttered Alvian read the name of Ms. Marina's on the screen.

"Hello, Ma," said Alvian.

"Al, where have you been? From last night you didn't come home and didn't tell Mama. Mama just called the office, but your assistant said you didn't go to work. Remember, next month you will be engaged. Guard your conduct. How can you be a CEO if you behave like this" Ny said. Marina was upset at her son.

"I'm sorry, Ma, I have important matters to do" Alvian replied.

"What business? What's more important than Ayesha and your job? Those are the two things that determine your future the most. Mama wants you to be free from the shadow of the King."

"Alright, Ma. I'll be home soon. There's no need to talk about Ayesha and work anymore" Alvian said.

"Mama never thought about my feelings. All he had in mind was wealth and power. He even forced me to marry a woman I didn't love,"

inner Alvian was disappointed.

The king held a gold necklace with a white pearl pendant in his palm. He had just bought the necklace in Tokyo as a gift for Cleantha. With his wife's gentle personality, he believes the necklace fits snugly around her neck.

"Why do I miss Cleantha? We were only separated for a moment. Is this just a momentary lust or am I really in love with that girl? I have to hold back. Love will only make me weak as I used to be,"

muttered the King against his own feelings.
