The Wife of the King's Pay

The Wife of the King's Pay
Chapter 24 The Trap of Zevira (Part 1)

"Thank you, sir," said Cleantha very happily.

Cleantha still could not believe that the King would be kind enough to give her a job. It feels like he got a durian crumbling overnight.

"Cure your feet first. After that, you can work. Later in the office don't tell anyone that I'm your husband. Keep our relationship secret."

"Do I have to pretend I don't know you?"

"Yes, that's better. Be professional in the office. I don't like having employees who mix personal matters with work. Don't waste the opportunity I gave you."

"I promise I won't disappoint you. I must be working hard."

After saying so, the King passed by to cleanse himself.

While Cleantha laid herself on a soft mattress.

Tonight was the first time he had slept on the King's bed and left his usual sofa to be his bed.

While resting herself, Cleantha just felt tired in her body. However, he did not care about his tiredness because he felt that he was blossoming.

Soon his dream of working in a leasing company will be realized. And all of that can happen thanks to the help of the King.

" *Last-last i*this Lord King is very kind to me. I can't bother him anymore with my silly behavior. I can still use another way to get away from him,"

cleantha.

Before the King finished his bath, Cleantha arranged a pillow in the middle to avoid any physical contact with the King. He also wears long-sleeved nightgowns and pants, so that no part of his body is exposed.

As the King opened the bathroom door, Cleantha hurriedly pulled out her blanket. He tilted his body against the wall. Hoping the King would ignore his whereabouts.

In her heart Cleantha was grateful that the room was using air conditioning. Otherwise, he would definitely sweat from wearing a long-sleeved shirt plus a thick blanket.

On the other side of the mattress, Cleantha felt the King's movements lying down. It seemed that the man wanted to go to sleep immediately and was in no mood to pay attention to him.

"Why don't you eat a snack or play on your phone before bed? Have you forgotten your bad hobby?" ask the King suddenly.

"I'm sleepy, so I don't want to eat anymore. Sorry I slept first, sir," said Cleantha, turning her face away.

The king did not continue his question. He stared at the array of pillows Cleantha had made to separate them. A smile formed on the King's lips. He knew his young wife was still traumatized by the events of their honeymoon.

"She was still afraid that I would do anything to her. I don't understand the character of this girl. Sometimes he looks brave, behaves recklessly and likes to rebel. But sometimes he turns soft, fragile and timid. Does he have a dual personality?"

muttered the King while closing his eyes.

...****************...

The next morning, Cleantha woke up earlier than the King. But he did not dare to bathe first for fear that the King would be angry with him.

Cleantha just sat on the edge of the bed, waiting until the King woke up.

"Clea, you've been up?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Why not wake me up and daydream like that? Your behavior is like a child" the king grumbled down from the bed.

"Well dare I wake you up. You can swallow me alive,"

cleantha's inner self in the heart.

"Rather than you don't have a job, it's better to have a work shirt ready for me."

The impromptu orders from the King made Cleantha dumbfounded.

"I'm preparing clothes for Mister?"

"Yes, who else are you? Choose correctly," said the King passing through Cleantha.

After the King left, Cleantha moved towards her husband's closet.

He opened the closet and saw a line of work suits hanging in it. Everything looks good and looks expensive.

"Which clothes should I choose? I don't know the Lord King's dressing sense. But it's supposed to be in this closet all her favorite clothes."

Cleantha tried to remember what clothes the King was wearing yesterday.

"If it's not wrong Mr. King yesterday wore a dark blue suit, maybe he preferred dark colors."

While sorting through the clothes, Cleantha became indecisive.

The task that the King gave this morning was the same as the duty of a wife to her husband. Either because of getting carried away, Cleantha felt the role of a real wife. And of course this must be avoided.

While thinking, Cleantha looked for a way for the King not to tell her again later on.

Suddenly Cleantha's gaze was adrift on a suit that was more conspicuous than the others. Sky blue suit.

"*I*this is the brightest color. Perhaps the King liked him less. If I take this suit, he'll think I'm stupid and won't tell me anymore,"

cleantha thought she was satisfied with her brilliant idea.

"Clea, get my clothes here" cried the King as he opened half the door.

"Yes, Sir."

Cleantha hurriedly handed over her chosen clothes to the King's hand, without looking inward.

After a few minutes, the man came out with an odd expression.

"Why did you choose this color for me? I haven't worn it for a long time" asked the King looking uncomfortable.

It must be admitted that the appearance of the King is very different. But by wearing a bright color, the man looks younger and fresher.

"I'm sorry, if you don't like it, I'll get you another shirt."

The king stared for a moment at his reflection in the mirror.

"No need. It would be a waste of time if I had to change clothes" said the King walking towards the door.

Seeing the usual reaction of the King, Cleantha felt disappointed. The brilliant idea turned out not to be working well at all.

Before leaving, the King turned around briefly to warn Cleantha.

"Don't do the same thing as yesterday. I will watch over you" asserted the King.

...****************...

Zevira waited until the King left for the office. He approached Cleantha who was sitting alone at the dining table.

"Clea, is your breakfast done?"

"Already, sister," Cleantha answered spending the rest of her juice.

"This is a list of foods I like. Today you can start cooking for me" Zevira said, putting a piece of paper on the table.

"I'm sorry, I can't cook for Sister Vira anymore" Cleantha replied feeling unwell.

"Why? You're forbidden by the King?"

"I.iya Brother."

"I do not understand the mind of the King. He should have thanked me. At least your existence here is of no use, rather than you being quiet and doing nothing. Then what do you want to do now, Clea?"

"Mr. King told me to work for his company next Monday."

A look of malice emanated from Zevira's eyes.

"Where are you going to work?"

"In the finance division, sister, according to my education."

"Then I'll give you a gift to celebrate your new job."

"I don't think it's necessary, Brother."

"Don't turn down my gift, Clea. I'm glad you got a job. I'll take you shopping to the Mall and we'll eat together at the cafe.

"Sister, but..."

"Calm down, the King won't mind if I take you for a walk. Prepare, Clea. We leave at eleven."

Bi Dewi who heard Zevira's words became astonished.

"Madam, why do you bother taking the girl shopping?" bi Dewi asked after escorting Zevira to her room.

"Because I have a good plan for Cleantha. I didn't expect the girl to be able to attract the King's attention. The proof was that the King was so protective that he even gave him a job. So, I have to act fast before the King gets all the more hooked on his young wife."

"What plan do you want to do, Madam?"

"I will make Cleantha's image bad in the King's eyes, as well as teach the girl a little lesson. I'm gonna need some help from you, Bi Dewi."

"What help, ma'am?"

Zevira whispered something into the ears of her loyal servant.

"Do you understand, Bi Dewi?"

"Yes, Madam. I'll do as you command."
