Happy Reading's. Don't forget to like, comment, and vote.
Alvian put his head on the back of the chair. While his eyes stared at the pile of files that adorned his desk.
Usually he works extra quickly in checking all the reports. That's how it works. He was a good, critical, and observant mathematician. Just a little bit of absurd innocence, he'll figure it out soon.
But this second his capacity is only half filled. To complete the credit analysis alone it takes almost an hour.
Alvian's thoughts were on the auction tonight, where he had to go together with Cleantha.
"Tok, tok, good morning, sir," tap Mr. Setyo from outside the door.
After knocking, the stocky man went inside with his agenda book.
"Good morning, Mr. Alvian," said Mr. Setyo once again.
"Morning, please sit Mr. Setyo."
Alvian twirled the pen in his hand as he prepared to listen to the report from Mr. Setyo.
As Alvian ordered, every time facing Mr. Setyo is obliged to tell who the finance and accounting employees are absent today.
"For the staff whose permission is not to enter today is just Cleantha, sir. He's sick" Mr. Setyo said.
Alvian's forehead wrinkled when she heard Cleantha's name called. As she remembered the girl was fine when she drove her home last night. Although the look on the girl's face shows sadness when it comes to separating from her family.
"What's he hurting?"
"Sorry, sir, I dare not ask. Because Mr. Dion asked Cleantha for permission."
"Did Cleantha not enter because of orders from the King's sister? But what's the reason?"
alvian thought for a moment.
"Well, proceed with the report of uncollectible receivables per branch."
Alvian opened the file from his laptop and started asking for an explanation from Mr. Setyo.
About fifteen minutes Alvian had a discussion with his manager. Until their serious conversation was interrupted by the sound of a telephone ringing.
Alvian's hand moved quickly, raising the call with his left hand.
"Good morning, Mr. Alvian. The Lord King is calling you to his room now. There's something important to ask you."
"All right, I'll be there soon," Alvian replied spontaneously.
Coincidentally he also wanted to ask Cleantha's condition to his sister.
"Setyo sir, let's continue later. I was called to face the CEO."
"Oh well, Mr. Alvian," said Mr. Setyo standing up from his chair.
"I beg you, sir."
Mr. Setyo turned his back then stepped to the door.
After the man left, Alvian closed the laptop and moved out of the room.
...****************...
The king tried to hide his expression when he saw the arrival of his sister.
For some reason the scene of Alvian hugging Cleantha was still stupefied repeatedly in her mind. And that made his emotions run amok.
"Morning, Brother," said Alvian, sitting in the chair in front of the CEO's desk.
The king rubbed his face rough. He was unable to resist immediately asking for an explanation from Alvian.
"Al, I want to ask you something. Answer honestly," said the King with great emphasis.
"What's the matter, brother?"
"Cleantha," replied the King to the point.
"I just wanted to ask Brother why he didn't go to work today" Alvian said.
"Why do you seem to care so much about him?"
"Because she's my sister's wife and my staff. She was in good health last night when I drove her home. But Mr. Setyo suddenly said that today he was sick" Alvian explained.
"I told him to stay home. Yesterday after work he dared to leave without my knowledge. Where were you two last night?"
"Didn't Brother Vira ask for permission? I drove Cleantha to the boutique to buy a dress. Then Cleantaha asked for my help to take her to her parents' house."
"Vira never asked permission from me. And why did you grant Cleantha's request? You should have called me first," replied the king.
"I did it on the basis of humanity. Cleantha's sister called last night. She said her father missed Cleantha to the point of not taking the medicine. Cleantha cried with anxiety and begged me. I can't bear to see it."
The king took a deep breath hearing Alvian's explanation. It turned out that what happened was very different from his bad prejudice during this time.
"Did you know that Cleantha's father had a stroke all along?" asked Alvian suddenly.
"Yes, I know."
"Then as a daughter-in-law, did you ever see her father Cleantha?"
Alvian's question pierced the depths of the King's heart. Since marrying Cleantha, he had never known her much less visited her father-in-law. You could say he is a daughter-in-law who has no manners.
But what to say, Cleantha was only a hired wife who was never considered by her. Even their marriage was hidden from the Cleantha family. If he came suddenly to his in-laws' house, they might even have a heart attack.
"I've never been to his house. Is his father's condition so bad?" the King said honestly.
Alvian shrugged his shoulders.
"Where do I know, brother. I'm Cleantha's sister-in-law, not her husband. Yesterday I was waiting in the car and Cleantha came in alone. If you want to know about Cleantha's father, you have to spend some time at her house on weekends."
The subtle insinuation of Alvian made the King realize his mistake. But there is still one thing that holds his feelings in the moment, and must be resolved now.
"Can you explain this to me?" the king showed me his cell phone.
Alvian squinted at the picture of her hugging Cleantha. Now she understood why her brother's attitude was so different today.
I don't know who accidentally took the photo and sent it to the King. But he did not want to prolong the problem and muddy the atmosphere.
"That's because Cleantha almost fell, so I caught her. He is not used to wearing high heels. Does Big Brother suspect I'm having an affair with Big Brother's wife like Fendi did?" alvian asked offended.
"No, Al. I just want to clarify everything."
"Tonight you won't have to accompany Cleantha to the auction invitation. I'll go with him" continued the King.
Alvian immediately accepted the King's request.
"That's better. Husband and wife must go together. If I were to replace Brother, someone else would suspect me. Is there anything you want to talk about again? Otherwise I will continue the meeting with Mr. Setyo."
"Nothing, Al. Go back to your room."
Alvian shifted his chair and turned to leave the King. She was upset at her brother for accusing him of disgrace.
But secretly, his heart felt disappointed that it had canceled attending the auction invitation. I don't know what the reason for his disappointment is. Could it be because tonight she has to meet Ayesha, her future match. Or because he's gone with his sister-in-law, Cleantha.
...****************...
In order to reduce the burden on her heart, Cleantha decided to bow down to the Creator. Pouring out heart and crying in prayer is much better than holding back your own bitterness. After all, he did not have anyone who could be invited to complain.
Until now he has not found anyone who can understand him. And if he tells others, maybe his story is even made into gossip by mothers as complex as possible.
"Madam, someone's looking for you" called Mr. Darma from behind the door.
Cleantha hurried to fold her face and walked to the door.
Beside Mr. Darma, there stood two young women in contemporary style. One of her hair is painted amber, while the other is a haired cepak style Hollywood artist.
"Madam, there's two salon attendants coming. They were told by the Lord King to decorate the Madam."
"Sore, ma'am, I'm Ela and this is my friend Cindy" said the fat-haired girl.
Cleantha was surprised to hear Mr. Darma's explanation.
"Sir, did they really come here at my husband's behest?"
"Yes, Madam."
Cleantha's face turned sour. He could not believe that the King would return to his free will after what he did last night. The king even told her to dress beautifully when her heart was crumbling dimly. What a heartless man.
"Sorry, Ma'am, please go home. I don't want to be self-directed."
"But, Madam, then Lord King..."
"Not to be afraid, Ma'am. I asked both of you to go home. Ma'am will not be blamed by my husband" Cleantha said with confidence.
