The Wife of the King's Pay

The Wife of the King's Pay
Chapter 4 Escape

Cleantha widened her eyes. He could not believe that the man who had just had the accident had asked him to do something crazy.

"I'm sorry, sir, did you mispronounce?"

"I never mess with my words. You think I'm the one who likes to joke around," the man replied raising an octave of his voice.

"Maybe this man's head was hit and injured, so his mind was disturbed. I'd better pretend to obey her request. After that I'll take him to the hospital, then go quietly. I don't have to argue with people who are sick,"

muttered Cleantha made a plan.

"How do you agree with my offer? A girl like you should feel lucky to get this rare opportunity," said the man in his power-associated style.

"Later I'll think, sir. Now we go to the hospital first."

"Look, I don't accept rejection. Give me your identity card. I need to know who you are so you don't get out of the responsibility."

"I can't give my data to this weird guy. He can wear it to force me to fulfill his wish,"

cleantha thought to herself.

"I'm sorry, sir, I didn't bring an identity card because I hurriedly left the house."

"Are you lying to me on purpose?"

"No, sir can check my bag" Cleantha said.

The man moved his eyeballs. From the look on his face, the man seemed disgusted to touch Cleantha's black bag.

"no need. Then what's your name?" ask the man with a full glance.

"My name...Liana," Cleantha replied originally uttering the name that flashed through her mind.

"Now get my phone inside the car dashboard! I need to talk to my personal assistant."

"Good, Sir."

Without wasting any time, Cleantha headed towards the man's car whose front had been dented. He took the phone from the dashboard and handed it over carefully.

"This, Sir."

"Shut up here. I'll call for a minute."

The man pressed a few number buttons then turned his face away.

Although it was not very clear, Cleantha could hear the man talking to someone.

"Dion, I had an accident on the road in front of the office. Please come and take care of my car."

The man closed his phone then looked at Cleantha with a sharp look.

"Take me now to the hospital. I don't want anyone to see me in an accident and spread the word in the media. Hurry up and order a taxi" said the man.

"Ba.ik, sir, I'll book the cab now."

While opening the online taxi app, Cleantha thought about the man's words.

Now he is increasingly convinced that the man who is threatening him is not an arbitrary person. He must be influential, famous, or have a certain power. The proof is he is very worried if the news of his accident will be covered by journalists in the mass media.

"Master, I've got a cab. Come soon."

The man gave no response. He just leaned on the side of his car, throwing a glance towards the highway.

In no less than five minutes, a black cab came to pick up Cleantha.

"That's the cab, sir. Let's go in."

Cleantha opened the taxi door and let the man in first. He himself chose to sit in front, next to the driver. The man sat alone in the middle seat.

"Sir, please take us to the nearest hospital from here."

"Well, Ma'am," said the taxi driver immediately drove his car.

Along the way, Cleantha and the man did not talk to each other. They were immersed in each other's thoughts until they arrived at the Permata Hospital.

"Thank you, sir," Cleantha said before getting off the taxi.

The man had already come out ahead of Cleantha. However it seems that the man's leg was injured so he walked more slowly.

"Don't touch me!" the man warned Cleantha.

Due to the man's rude attitude, Cleantha undoes her intentions. He was really astonished by the behavior of this magical man. She had just forced Cleantha to become his second wife, but now she did not even want to be touched by the girl.

I have to be patient with this man. I was guilty of him anyway,

cleantha thought she was calming down.

Cleantha and the man walked hand in hand into the hospital lobby.

The crowded hospital situation makes patients have to wait patiently in line.

Cleantha had the man sit on the waiting chair while asking him.

"Sir, do you want to go straight to the IGD or do you want to check into an outpatient clinic?"

"Just sit here. I don't want to be taken care of by a careless girl like you."

The man held his cell phone back to contact someone.

"I've taken this man to the hospital. Should I run away now? This is a good opportunity while he's still calling."

Not wanting to waste a chance, Cleantha moved from her seat. A moment later, he walked quickly leaving the man still talking through his cell phone.

"Hey, wait!!! Where are you going" exclaimed the man aghast at Cleantha's departure.

Cleantha paid no heed to the call from the man. Half-running, he hurriedly walked out of the hospital lobby. Despite feeling guilty, he had to do all this because he had no other choice.

"I'm sorry, sir. I don't have the money to pay for the damages and the hospital fees. I don't want to be a second wife either. That's why I had to flee. Someday I will definitely make amends to you, sir,"

cleantha's regret in heart.

****************

After the taxi he was riding reached the yard of the house, Cleantha rushed into the house.

At the door, Ana, her stepmother had been standing waiting for Cleantha. With her cold face, Ana immediately held Cleantha's hand and prevented her from entering.

"Clea, why did you just come home? Where have you been?" tanya Ana poked Cleantha with a question.

"I saw the employee acceptance announcement, Auntie."

"Hmmm, your face looks tangled so, surely you are not welcome, right?"

"I.yes, Aunt. I have failed the selection process" said Cleantha grimly.

Ana shook her head.

"Geez, you are not expected at all. How will you pay the loan interest? Three more days Puspa will definitely charge the payment."

"Three more days? Why so fast, Auntie? Just a week ago I borrowed money from Aunt Puspa."

"Clea, are you stupid or pretending to be stupid? The agreement clearly states that you must pay interest on the first date of each month. No matter it has been a month or not, you still have to pay it on the first date. And the rest of your time is three days."

"Tante, why didn't you tell me? Didn't Auntie read the deal?" cleantha asked worriedly.

"Ah, why blame Auntie? You agreed to sign the agreement yourself. Aunt just reminded me. If you don't pay interest, you're taking the risk yourself. Not Aunty," said Ana sneering.

"Tante, I'm waiting for a job interview call from a textile company. I'll ask for a waiver from Aunt Puspa to postpone this month's special payment only."

Hearing Cleantha's innocence, Ana immediately laughed mockingly.

"You think Puspa is the owner of a charitable organization? He won't grant your request even if you kneel and cry in front of him."

Ana tilted the corners of her lips slightly to the left, before continuing her words to corner Cleantha.

"The pope knows no mercy. What is listed in the agreement you must fulfill. You need to remember, the guarantee is yourself, Cleantha. If you refuse, then Puspa might sell you so you can pay off your debts to him."

"A...what does Aunt mean?" asked Cleantha stammered.

"You will be made a comfort woman. Sold to striped men who can afford your body at a high price" said Ana cynically.

The words of Ana were like thunder that grabbed Cleantha's ears during the day. Cleantha's legs and hands suddenly went limp, as if losing all the energy stored in her body.

"Is my fate really this bad? Could it be that I should end up being a comfort woman?"
