The Thousand Mask Warrior

The Thousand Mask Warrior
Battle on the River Part Three: Exchanging a Faint Smile

Pratiwi's agility is still unmatched. The keris is without a luk in the right hand and the spoiled Annam dagger is played so well. The actual state of his body is still counted sick it does not really affect the moves he runs. After a pirate died, Pratiwi immediately set the distance as close as possible to the enemy by launching an attack as quickly as possible. He did not want his attack immediately repelled by the enemy, especially if until they attacked Yu who clearly had silat science under him.

However, Yu had from the beginning no longer wanted to just be behind his wife who was the hotshot. Has he not saved the warrior several times? That already shows however he has an important role in this perilous journey.

Yu again threw one or two needles that targeted at the deadly points on the opponent's body. A Vietnamese rover can still brush off three needles that are thrown at him at once. Just this throw of Yu's secret weapon resulted in the pirate missing the limelight point so that once again Pratiwi slid gently but nimbly cut his throat with a dagger in his left hand and planted a keris in his head. The pirates were immediately killed.

Pratiwi and Yu exchanged faint smiles.

The two pirates of Daisy this time were truly wrathful to see their two comrades killed. Let alone watching a Chinese man and his aides do it.

This is understandable because the ten centuries old kingdom of Daisy Viet conquered and controlled by the Chinese empire, especially the Han dynasty, Dong Wu dynasty, Jin dynasty, Southern dynasty, Sui dynasty and Tang dynasty. It was only in 939 AD that the people of Da-Viet defeated the Chinese army at the Bach Dang River. This also ended the Chinese conquest of the land of Daisy.

Not only that, even when China was ruled by the Mongols under the Yuan dynasty a century later, during the Tran dynasty's reign, the Dais of Viet defeated the Mongols' three invasions, three times, where surprisingly the commander of the Network of Vietnam named Tran Hung Dao also defeated the Mongols in the river Bach Dan like his ancestors before.

The pirates, although from the New World group who want to create a new universal order that is completely different from the statehood of the nations in this part of the world, nevertheless still have a sense of nationality. Two hundred years ago, the kingdom of Da-yi under Le Thanh Tong, had also succeeded in expanding its power by subjugating the kingdoms of Champa and Khmer.

So no wonder, the taste of their nation coupled with hatred with the Chinese people makes these two pirates more angry. “Kill the Chinese and his slave,” shouted one of the pirates of the remaining two to his colleague.

Aware of their situation, one pirate deliberately berbibuta attack Pratiwi with both weapons in his hand. The straight and thin Han Chinese-style sword slashed out softly but firmly. The sound of wind produced from each of his beset sounded so sharp.

One paddle, two three islands are surpassed.

On the fifth sabbath, Pratiwi repelled the attack by welcoming the enemy, cutting off the fingers of the pirates who grasped the Han-style sword while giving a hard kick towards the enemy who tried to stab Yu, right in his heart.

Two simple shouts. Pratiwi did not waste. He took a long step, slashing his neck and piercing the chest of the pirates who were about to attack Yu earlier. Instead, seeing the other enemy lose grip over his sword, Yu got a good target. He threw just one of his fast-moving needles into a deadly spot near the ear.

The pirate fell dead with a blue face.

Yu sighed, proud of the result of his attack. He looked towards Pratiwi who turned to look at him with a cold face. Yu smiled because he knew in his wife's heart that he was smiling too.

“Don't be too proud of your attack, Yu. Don't forget, you're less able to guard yourself from an opponent's attack. For later, just keep your distance. We must get to the bow before the cannon is captured and our captain is killed,” Pratiwi said.

Just when the two had just left the middle deck in the direction of the bow, seven more pirates had already crept up onto the ship. The seven pirates this time were the Champa people. One of its members, who looks the most violent, may also be the leader of this group of pirates look furious and wrath at the four pirates Daisy who had been sprawled dead covered in blood.

“Burn this ship. But first find out who killed our group members. I don't see any Lan Xang soldiers on the deck. So, there must be people with certain canuragan knowledge on board,” said the leader coldly while holding back anger.
