Chapter 23: The Plan of Assault

All right, back with Princess Eliana a.k.a Riel, who's going to attack the bandit's headquarters tonight.

This time I was accompanied by a super-duper cute cat girl, who could cast a high-level lightning magic. So be careful if you want to disturb him, or you will be electrocuted beyond the plugs at home.

We had enough rest this afternoon, as well as preparing some equipment that we will bring when the attack later. Momo looked very ready from her face, there was absolutely no doubt in her.

After everything was ready, we got out of the inn and set off towards the gathering place. A damaged wooden house near the forest to the west outside the city. The mention of his position is very troublesome, but what can be done if for the sake of maintaining the confidentiality of the work.

Arriving at the west gate of the city, the guards there looked extremely vigilant. They checked out one by one outsiders who wanted to enter the city. But strangely, they paid no attention to the people walking out.

"Where are you going? It's almost night, and a girl like you can't wander around out of town." The officer said.

Sure enough, he forbade us from going out of town. Then it seems like I'm wrong to strategize, I should have used my hood too so that she doesn't realize I'm a girl.

This will be my new experience going forward.

"we want to go find fairy mushrooms." Momo answered her question.

"Huh, fairy mushrooms?" Me and the guard both asked. Then we looked at each other.

"Why are you asking too?" The guard now suspects me.

"I want to surprise Grandpa. So I had this brother accompany me into the forest to find something, and I haven't said what I want to look for." Momo gave her both an amazing answer. This cat girl is really smart.

"Well, that's what you're looking for. I guess what we're looking for when it gets dark." Right no? Right no?

"oh." The guard seemed to be starting to understand. "All right then. I'll give you an hour. If you guys come back for more than an hour, I'll give you both a severe punishment."

The guard finally let us out. But the punishment he was referring to sounded suspicious to me.

"Thank you, guard sir." We both walked out of the forest.

But I'm sorry, guard sir, once our work is done, we won't be returning to this town. We will go straight to the village where Momo lives. So it looks like we're not meeting again.

"Be careful with wild animals. Don't approach them if you meet in the woods." The guard is still worried about us.

I responded by waving my hand, lazy to take care of people like him.

The forest in the late afternoon looks pretty scary to me. But since there was Momo beside me, I feel a little bolder now.

We walked along the forest. The wooden house is a little far from the gate, but not too deep in the forest. Maybe in about a few minutes of walking we'll find him.

"Hey, Momo. What's fairy mushroom like?" Askaqua. This is also so that I am not confused anymore like before.

"That's an ordinary looking mushroom, but they emit light when it gets dark." Answer Momo.

After a while we walked, we finally found the wooden house that looked broken. The house looks more like a cottage, because that's what I generally call a house like this.

We both walked closer to the wooden house. With the state of the house quite damaged, and the atmosphere of the day starting at night, this begins to look like a horror game atmosphere.

I'm so worried that there's nobody in there. Though it was clear that this was the wooden house they were referring to.

I walked towards the door of the wooden house. The door alone looks fragile and very dirty, what about the conditions in this house?

I dared to knock on the door.

"Keyword?"

Hii! Suddenly a voice came from behind the door. That surprised me quite a bit.

Relax, relax Riel. It was the voice of someone still alive. There are other adventurers in there.

"Oak tree is black." I said the key word.

No response yet.

"Do you know..." The voice was heard again. "If the oak is not black, you fool."

The door of the house opened, and revealed an adventurer man who still looked young. He looks like a Hunter with a crossbow behind his back.

"Hi! You must be our client. I'm sorry if I said you were stupid, but it was just a joke. Ahaha." The man scratched his head.

"Ah, yes. Are you the group that will attack the headquarters of those bandits?" My toot.

"Yep! Please come inside, we're just leaving." The man paved the way and allowed us to enter.

Inside the house were several people gathered in the living room. There was one big man with a shield, one witch woman waving to me, and a squeaky bamboo we met near Adele's bar.

"Well, you girls. Funny, I got a friend chatting on the job." The woman looks happy, knowing that in this group will increase the number of women.

"Please enter, think of it as your own home. Even though this isn't our house." The big man spoke with a heavy tone.

"Yet you have finally come. Since everything is now complete, we can start the assault." The bamboos said.

We both went into the house and joined them. There was a seat surrounding the table with a map on it. The map had already been doodled with some lines and writing.

"This is the map of the attack?" My toot.

"Yes. Sit down, I will briefly explain it to you." The man with the crossbow began to turn the map towards us, and began to explain.

Momo and I sat between them. Next to me was the woman earlier, she shifted her seat to be close to me.

"Hi, I'm Clem." The woman stuck her hand out at me. He looked like he was the same age as Shin or Clara. "Greetings."

"Yes, greetings too." I returned his hand.

After that the man with the crossbow started to explain his strategy. 

The headquarters of the bandits were a bit far from where we were gathered. About an hour's drive through this forest. If so, I can't go back to Deedalee City anymore.

Since our group is six people in number, it will make our movement even more risky to get caught. So we will be further divided into two groups, the men one group and the women one group as well.

Momo and I were in a group with Clem. The three of us will move a bit far behind the group of men. They'll sneak in to tear down the guards and open the way, and then we'll bombard them.

Clem and Momo are both Mages, they can unleash attack-opening magic as the bandits begin to swarm in. Then we will gather again after the first magic attack is released. I got the monitoring section along with the crossbow, while the front line was the shielded man and the squeaky bamboo.

I didn't know if the squeaky bamboo was a very skilled spear user. Maybe I'll just call him a squeaky spear, because his height is almost the same as his spear.

"All right, let's go!" Said the bamboo.

The group of men moved first into the forest, while the three of us were still waiting at the wooden house before it was our turn. Luckily Clem already understood the strategy and route, because I was a bit confused as they explained it.

"Hey, momo. Can I see your cat's ears?" Said Clem.

"Mmmm?" Momo looked at Clem's eyes sharply, and Clem had a clear expression.

"You're the same as Riel." 

"Huh, how am I?"

"Hurray!!"

Momo took off the hood of the robe that hid her cat's ears. The ear twitched slightly the first time it came out of the hood.

"Yeah!! It's cute!! Can I touch it?"

"No" 

"Huu..."

Haha. You still need another 10 years to touch Momo's cat's ear, because I'm the only one who has access to play it right now.

Momo re-wears her hood after Clem is satisfied to see her ears. Then we talked a little bit about our daily lives like friends in general.

Clem learned magic from his father who was a former adventurer, so he inherited his father's determination to become a great adventurer.

Then he met up with his friends while exploring the dungeon alone. They have formed groups until now. Keep running requests, exploring dungeons, and becoming stronger.

"Well, cool! What dungeons have you explored?" My toot.

"We once explored the Amber Dungeon, the Farest Mountain Dungeon, and the Taipan Lake Dungeon. But we've never finished the dungeon."

Greatable. In this world there are still many dungeons that I have never visited. I'll make a list to explore the dungeon later as well.

"alright. It seems now our turn to move." Clem started to stand up and took his gear.

"okay."

"Yes." Yeah."

The three of us got out of the wooden house and started walking towards the bandit headquarters. Clem was leading our way up ahead.

"eehh... A clem? Shouldn't we be going down that road?" I'm confused. Because as I recall the road that the crossbow man told me was not the road we're on right now.

"Yes, it's true. But the plan changed a little bit because we formed two separate groups. So we're going to go down another different path, to minimize the danger of getting caught." Clem explained to me.

"Hmm, okay." I'm okay-okay. So far we only need to follow Clem up to the headquarters of the bandits through different paths. He said it would reduce our risk of getting caught by the bandits.

Momo behind me looked a little suspicious. After I told her everything would be fine, she returned to calm down.
