Chapter 15: Chasing the Train

It was still daytime, the sunlight helped the two of us to walk through the forest.

I'm not suggesting running, besides being able to drain us faster, it can also make some wild animals feel disturbed. It's worse that those bandits can figure out our moves.

The path we followed was disappearing and began to be covered by grass. It's just like when I was hunting with Uncle Reinald. That means we're close to the end of this forest.

We both walked a little far from the village. If Shin wanted to chase after us, he would definitely think twice before going into the forest. We are both safe from him, and soon our goals will be seen.

But I think I was wrong.

"We're getting into the woods." Momo.

I followed Momo out of the bushes, and we finally came out of the woods. But what I saw was not the camp of the bandits, we were in the former campground of the bandits.

"This is their former camp?" My toot.

This place looks like a slightly airy land in the middle of the forest. There was a former tent, and also a horse carriage trail.

They left a lot of trash in the form of torn dirty clothes, pieces of rope, and some wooden twigs. This does not reflect someone who is good at camping.

Momo walked for a while, then stopped on the former ground of a tent.

"We're late." Momo clenched her hands tightly. He was disappointed that he could not help his friends.

I approached him but could not say anything. Though I have escaped from Shin, but my goal is not achieved here at all. The bandits had already left their place and were taking Momo's friends away.

I watched Momo, she didn't seem to cry. But I know he's holding her.

"But it is quite close to the village. Why don't the villagers realize it?" I'm starting to think about that. If they made camp here, it would definitely be very conspicuous for those living near here.

"They don't make bonfires because they use magic crystals. So there will be no smoke that can be seen from afar." Answer Momo. He knows because he's been here before.

So yeah. Magic can be a practical technology in this world.

"Sister Riel, do you want to hear my selfish request?"

"Hmm? What'sthat?" I approached him so I could hear him more clearly. "Tell me what you want to say. Don't worry."

"All right." Momo turned her body and faced towards me. "Will we go after him? I can't leave them all."

Momo must have loved her friends so much.

I can feel his worry. Moreover, his struggle to seek help from some people. Then Uncle Reinald and even Shin had no intention at all to help Momo.

"Well, where should we go now?" My toot. "If those bandits had left, they would have headed somewhere nearby."

"They must be heading to the next camp, I had heard some of their chatter. It's near a town." Momo answered.

A city, yes.

Nearby there is only Ciatar City and also the City of Deedalee. I lived in Ciatar City and did not find any awkwardness around there. That means it's not wrong that they must have been to the city of Deedalee.

"I don't think there's any strangeness around Ciatar City. So we're going to the city of Deedalee."

"Obviously I know the way. Follow me." That way I started to move along the path that the bandits were going through.

I followed the wheel tracks of their chariot which was still clearly printed on the grass. Momo in the back walked not far from me. We were going to Deedalee City, but I had an interesting choice to get there.

"Momo, can you hear the sound of a motor vehicle from here?" My toot.

"Engineered vehicle? Is that a machine?"

Ah, yes. I forgot this cat is a nolep. He must have never seen a magic carriage before.

I tried to describe the sound of a train running. Since the engine used by the train was a steam engine, I tried to mimic the sound of the train I knew.

"Yeah..." Momo is just dumb.

"You don't understand? Yes already. We're gonna walk to the edge of the other woods, there's gotta be a rail that's gonna be on the next train." I walked back in the footsteps. At least this trail definitely leads to one of the exits of the forest, and we'll find a railroad there.

Because when I jumped off the train, there were a lot of trees around me and it was getting busier. Even so I jumped on a path that had indeed gone to the village.

Momo, who had been walking behind me, suddenly jumped forward and stood still there. Her cute ears are looking for something.

"I can hear the voice you just emulated. I found the machine that Brother Riel meant!" Momo's eyes sparkled. He seemed happy to hear the voice I described.

"In that case, let's get there quickly! We can be left behind because he's walking so fast." I said.

Momo began to run in the direction of the voice she heard. Even I myself still can't hear it.

We walked through the forest to take a straight line to make it faster. The road that the bandits were going through was just going around the forest and would have left us behind by the train.

Huh, huh. Momo runs fast too. Coupled with his agility through the trees, the distance we both got further and further away. I tried to run as I could.

We both kept running through the trees and bushes. A few tree branches were blocking me higher, break through! Although my clothes will be okay, but what is in front of us is more important for now.

"It's close!" Momo.

After successfully balancing my path with her, we both jumped through the bushes on the edge of the forest. We also arrived outside the forest.

Trees were neatly pruned along the edges of the forest, forming a path. There was a rail above the ground that was higher than the surroundings. Then on the right side of the rail lay a vast meadow.

"Revelation!" I caught Momo and slammed my body backwards. We both fell in the bushes, coinciding with the train that rolled in front of us.

Her voice was too noisy that I didn't realize we were that close to her.

"This, train?" Momo noticed a long object that was walking quickly in front of her. His eyes glared in amazement after first seeing the carriage, but his ears closed due to his noisy voice.

"Yes, this is a train. We're going to the city of Deedalee using this thing." I stood up and looked at the back end of the carriage. A little bit more of that car will arrive near us. Since this train is running so slowly compared to the train in my world, I should still be able to climb onto it. 

"Momo, we're gonna get on that train! So we have to run off the pace, then jump up in the back carriage."

"Good!"

Now is the time, the scene of chasing the train!

Momo got up and we started running after the train. Although I have run as much as I can, but this train still runs faster than me. 

A while later, the last carriage arrived beside us, but it immediately shot forward and left us behind.

"Nooo!! Faster!" I pushed my feet to the limit. "Momos! Get in that carriage first!" My yelling.

With her small and agile body, Momo instantly sped up her run and jumped onto the carriage. At the back of the carriage was a place like a balcony, or rather a terrace, aaakkh I do not know what his name was. What is clear in the rear carriage of the train there is a common footing in use to rest or see the scenery behind.

"Sister Riel!" Momo was already on the train, and I was still running behind her.

I spurred my run faster. Faster! I can't leave him alone on that train.

"Capture my hand, Riel's sister!" Momo extended her hand.

Our distance is still a bit far. But I kept shortening our distance by trying to run past the limits of my ability.

I managed to grab Momo's hand, and then she helped me get on the train. I finally got up and went up.

I lay on the floor with a hunting breath. I was finally able to catch a train for the first time other than in the game. It seems like this, fun too. 

"Are you okay, Brother Riel?" Momo squatted near me. 

"Yes. Enough okay." I moved into a sitting position.

We both managed to get on the train. Now we'll head to the town of Deedalee and be there before nightfall. It made us have time to find accommodation.

But the train part scene is not over yet.

Someone came and opened the back door. I can see the contents of that carriage which is a storage warehouse. But in the doorway of the carriage stood a person dressed in the neat clothes of the attendant.

He was an officer.

"What are you guys doing here!?"
