The next day in the city of Deedalee. The early morning air was still cold, and made us wear robes when we came out of the room. Today we want to find information. Either it was in the adventurer guild, or the bar.
After breakfast at the inn, I asked the innkeeper where the adventurer guild was located or a crowded bar.
At first the innkeeper told me the location of the adventurer guild was a bit far away from here, but he did not suggest coming to a place like a bar.
After explaining my purpose for searching for information, the innkeeper finally understood and told me the right place he thought.
He told us a bar that was quite popular with adventurers and travelers. The bar was quite crowded and was often used as a place to discuss, chat, and exchange information. It is not far from here, and the price of the food is quite high.
I'm interested to hear about the bar. Momo said she'd mind a little if she was in a crowded place. But as long as we wear robes, then the people around will not pay too much attention to us.
"Momo, are you ready?"
"Yes." Yeah."
We both went out of the inn and met with the morning atmosphere of Deedalee City.
Like other cities, many residents are active in the morning. There were quite a few adventurers in sight, and surely more merchants were carrying their belongings.
The road we follow now is still not the main street of the merchant district. This is a branch road for side places like lodging, and a small bar.
On the main street it is sure to be flooded with merchants and large shops crowded by their buyers. Because this is indeed a trading district.
The population of Deedalee City is almost double that of Ciatar City. This city is arguably one of the cities with a large number of merchants and the quality of their goods is good. That makes a lot of buyers from out of town.
Even the Station was made to blend with the City of Deedalee Main Market. Because their source of income is indeed from the sale of merchandise.
The adventurers in the city were no less great even though the ones his merchants highlighted. They were often bodyguards on the way traders carried their wares from inside and outside the city.
Near this town there are no dungeons. So you have to go a little further to Ciatar City if you want to venture into the dungeon.
Just an interesting fact, the two dungeons in Ciatar City, namely Nawa Dungeon and Nugul Dungeon, more explorers who come from outside Ciatar City.
I felt disappointed when the two dungeons were close to the city where I lived. But the adventurers in my city simply do not have the ambition to become stronger and explore dungeons. Clara's salary never went up.
Momo and I have walked according to the innkeeper's direction. He told us a bar with a rather general description the truth is. In front of us were several places with almost the same description as the store owner said.
"Sister Riel?" Momo called.
"Yes, what's up, Momo?"
"I'm sure you already know. In front of us there are many places that fit the description of the innkeeper. Then where should we go?" Ask Momo.
"Where are you?" Eeehs... Honestly I myself did not pay much attention to what the innkeeper said. I only remember the road to the bar, and the little feature that the bar was quiet. This is why it is suitable for exchanging information.
"Okay, we're gonna go to that lonely bar." I go first steadily.
"Eh! But. okay." Momo in the back started following me.
On our left-hand side there are a number of shops and bars crowded to very crowded. The smell of food can be smelled even from outside the building. They seem to cook using a lot of spices.
I stood in front of the bar I chose. The place was not noisy, quiet, the wooden walls were slightly damaged, and quite dark. I'm reminded of a bar theme in a western movie or cowboy. Even the entrance looks exactly the same. It's just that the color of the building is a little gray.
Momo stood beside me while watching the bar. His face showed no fear at all. I just remembered that he did not like crowded places, so my choice now seemed to be right.
"Let's go in, Momo."
We both walked towards the bar and opened the door. The entrance of this bar feels very heavy and it takes more energy to open it. The rust sound from the door hinges was heard as we opened this door.
"Welcome home." A voice greeted us from the end of the room. There was a rabbit girl who was wiping a glass.
Clara! Uh, no. It wasn't Clara.
The bunny girl was not a receptionist, but a bartender. She has long silver hair and an eye patch on the left of her eye. His facial expression was also not as pleasant as Clara's, this one looked like a murderer.
This bar is so quiet. I could only see two or three people sitting in the corner of the room watching us. They look like bad guys.
"You guys came to the wrong place, little girl. Kindergarten is not here." The bartender immediately chased us away with a look in his eyes.
The little girl. Let me tell you what her friend Clara is.
We were wearing robes with hoods that covered almost our entire bodies. But the rabbit could still recognize us even as soon as we walked into the bar. Half-animal humans here do have a strong sensitivity towards others.
"It's okay. I think we've come to the right place." I walked towards the bartender table followed by Momo next to me.
The rabbit looked at us both in wonder. He continued to clean the other glasses smartly.
"What do you want to order?" Ask her.
"Information." I answered it rather slowly.
"Hmm?" The rabbit looked a little suspicious of us. His eyes looked over at the judges, and his expression was not much different from that of the Dungeon Nugul gatekeeper.
"I'll pay more." Whisper again.
"Go to the second floor, there is only one person sitting by the balcony. You only have half an hour."
Yosh! I succeeded in the first stage!
"What drink do you want to order?"
"Hmmm..." What yes?
There's no way Momo and I would order alcohol. We are both not old enough.
"Is there some kind of juice?" My toot.
"none. But we have apple cider that hasn't been fermented, I think I can serve it for you."
We both walked up to the stairs inside the bar. The three people in the corner kept staring at us while whispering something I could not hear. Momo behind me looked alert with them, her face kept tense ever since we were from the bartender's desk.
This wooden staircase I'm familiar with isn't as bad as a bar door. It may look fragile and slightly damaged, but it does not produce any noise that bothers other customers.
On the second floor the bar is not as dark as the ground floor. There was light coming in from the balcony and several small vents on each wall. The tables are neatly arranged with their seats still stored under the table. There was only one table ready by the balcony window.
I saw one guy there. A grown man in a brownish-colored robe suit. His hair was short black and his face resembled that of a zombie hunter I knew. He sat alone enjoying a cup of coffee that looked cold and read a small book.
There is coffee. Why didn't I order that?
We walked towards the table where the man was. There were four chairs, one of which he was sitting, one of which was still stored under the table, and both were available to sit on.
The man glimpsed at us with his slightly smiling face. He looked warm, but not as scary as the nobles in the carriage.
"You guys are looking for me? Sit there." The man pardoned us without seeming a little objection.
"Thank you for accepting us." We both sat in chairs that looked like they had been prepared before. My fantasy soul told me that this guy already knew we were coming and had his chair ready for us.
I have to be careful. Various possibilities could have happened, especially this is the city I just knew. This city may not be as good as Ciatar City.
"Is there anything I can help you with, adventurous lady and a cat girl?"
What the fuck!? The second time our identity can be known directly when we met for the first time. This man was clearly different from the nobles who were on that carriage.
The people here are more dangerous than I thought. But Momo did not look as alert as when meeting the man on the train.
"Oh, whoa! You can immediately find out our identity. Do we look that cute from the outside?" I tried to follow the flow first.
Asking directly for information is indeed one of the rules of exchanging information. But again I met someone who looked friendly, and definitely wanted a little talk.
"You ask about it? Why don't you see for yourself the top of the hood your friend is wearing?" The man pointed at the top of Momo's cloak hood.
I followed the direction he pointed and... Gosh darn.
All this time his cat's ears were clearly printed on the hood of Momo's robe. The man laughed a little. Why have I not realized that all this time?
But as I recall when I first met Momo, she was also wearing a robe and had no visible prints of her cat's ears on the hood.
"Whoaah!" Momo was a little surprised as soon as she realized it too.
He tried to cover his ears with his hands then release them back, and those ears were no longer imprinted!?
Oh, maybe he could keep his ears closed like when he's scared or embarrassed. Clara was like that too.
"Haah, okay. There's no point in closing ourselves up." I opened my hood and showed my face, and pulled out the hair I put in my cloak.
Momo followed me too. I could see his ears were closed as I had thought.
A few seconds later his ears stood up.
"Ahaha, I'm sorry. It's the first time I've met someone like you, so I'm enjoying it." The man laughed amiably. I feel more comfortable with this guy.
"Include me, my name is Riel, and this cat girl is Momo. We just arrived in this town and are looking for some information." Just start, don't talk anymore.
"Hoo, Miss Riel and Momo. What a good name." The man praised us. " Also, my name is Juan. Juan Nicolae's. I'm just a journalist living in this town. It seems your choice was right to meet me."
Juan Nicolae's. This name looks pretty normal to me, compared to the nobility who looks like a corpse on a train.
"So you're a journalist. I've heard a little bit about that profession. Why are you interested in such a job?"
"Hmm, why am I interested?" Juan closed his notebook and put it on the table. "I like general knowledge, especially with regard to the current social situation in this kingdom. So I became a journalist and went around town."
"This is your drink."
"Die!" Momo and I were shocked at the same time.
The bartender bunny came without me noticing at all. He placed our ordered drinks on a regular basis regardless of us being surprised.
"Is this apple beer? Can't they drink alcohol?" Juan commented on our drinks. The color looks similar to beer.
"This is apple cider that has not been fermented. So I think it'll be okay for them." After answering Juan's question, he went back to the ground floor.
Juan looked like he had hit each other with the bunny bartender. It was evident when the rabbit answered Juan's question casually.
"Name Adele. One race of half-human animals that is already rare in the city. He's a good-natured bartender and really good at making drinks, which is what makes me come here sometimes." Juan explained a little about the rabbit.
"Animal human race is rare in the city? What really happened to them?" My toot.
"Your friend is one of them. Why don't you just ask him?" Juan answered my question.
I didn't think to ask Momo about it. Maybe it was because we didn't have much time to chat more deeply with each other.
Momo's gaze was lowered upon hearing that. His ears also come down following his emotional state. I guess I can't ask him, or better not say it.
"Yes, it seems that your friend is uncomfortable if we discuss it..."
"It's okay."
Hm? Momo cuts off Juan's words.
"It's okay. Please tell Brother Riel about us, I don't want to say it myself."
Oh, Momo. I'm so sorry for offending you.
"Well, since it was your friend who asked me to do so, I will tell you what I know about the half-animal human race. Make sure you don't get the wrong information from me."
