Ch. 8-Hunting Festival

Weiruo left so early even before sunrise, that he did so in order to avoid the guards who might follow him.

It took Weiruo three hours to arrive at the hunting ground, and Weiruo had already shortened it by running small. He admitted the size of the capital was huge.

There were so many young men in the place, Weiruo could see clearly if most were nobles or perhaps a swordsman.

After following some of the opening events, all the participants immediately entered the Mist Forest to begin the hunt.

As the name suggests, the forest is still covered in a thin fog even though the sun has risen since then, the leaves are covered with morning dew.

Weiruo plucked one leaf of a size wide enough, then drank the dew on it.

It felt so fresh to drink the water from the dew, especially it had been so long since Weiruo had last drank the dew water.

“Last time when my mission almost failed and I was stuck a week in the wilderness.” Weiruo smiled faintly, and he could remember vividly when he was stuck in the wilderness for a week with no food to survive.

“But I was lucky enough because there are many animals to hunt,”.

“But I was also about to die in the tiger,” his grunts remember his arm that was torn by the tiger in his previous life.

Weiruo walked through the thickets, trying to minimize the sound so that his existence is unknown.

However, after nearly an hour of searching, not a single animal appeared around him.

Weiruo just wanted to leave, saw a deer emerge from behind the trees, walking casually towards the bushes.

With Weiruo's slow steps approaching, when the deer was not aware of his movements, Weiruo immediately lunged and managed to injure the deer's neck with his dagger.

However, Weiruo was a little unlucky because at the same time a tiger also lunged towards him.

The chatter of the two was so short and sounded like people holding grudges, making things feel awkward.

Weiruo kept his dagger and stepped away, soon the figure stopped him.

“What?”

“You left a game.”

Weiruo was quite surprised because the figure of the young man before him now had a body that was much taller than him, previously he had not been too aware of that due to not paying too much attention to him.

“Take it, I'm just having fun here.”

“You are not a Swordsman?” asked the young man after examining Weiruo's body with his inner strength.

Weiruo hurriedly pulled his hand from the young man's grasp, to be honest the girl was less accustomed to physical contact than strangers.

“Yes, I'm not a Swordsman. I'm following this event for fun, so I won't compete with you.”

It was fortunate that Weiruo wore a mask so that no one would know of his identity even if the entire forest was overseen by the emperor.

Weiruo observed the ring embedded in his finger, the ring was given to all participants to save their hunting. It's just that the object is useless to Weiruo because to use the Space Ring requires deep power while Weiruo is not a swordsman.

The quiet atmosphere of the forest made Weiruo feel so comfortable, as if hypnotizing him to continue to be there.

Suddenly Weiruo's body was pulled, the girl returned to consciousness.

“Eh?”

“You are almost their meal.”

Weiruo looked in the direction the figure behind him pointed. So many pairs of red eyes lit up from behind the darkness of the cave before them.

“Four times. Thank you.”

“What meeting death is your hobby?” chirping the young man was a bit upset because he had saved Weiruo 2 times from death.

“You could say so,” replied Weiruo with a faint smile adorning her face.

Weiruo still remembers when he almost met the angel of death because of the injuries he experienced while on a mission. If Weiruo remembered well, he had already 5 times almost met the angel of death, the last one was when he was killed by 001 shots.

Somehow Weiruo had to digest the incident, nor did he know what kind of figure had brought his soul to his current new body.

“Thank you for all the help you gave. By the way ... did you follow me?”

The young man was silent long enough to finally answer Weiruo's question, “I just follow has saved you twice from death, what if not?”

“I can handle it, so no need to follow me anymore.” Weiruo left the young man.

However, just a few steps away, Weiruo had already stopped, his gaze fixed on one direction. The forest felt so quiet at the moment, but Weiruo's instinct was already well trained in his previous life, he felt that something was coming from a distance.

Weiruo stepped back, only one step of his body was lifted and brought up the mouth of the cave.

A short while later a group of beasts ran past the location where Weiruo was standing before. The animals ran in large groups and hit anything in front of them, even some trees collapsed after being hit by some wild animals.

“Almost only. You saved me again.” Weiruo glanced at the young man beside him.

If not for the young man's reflexes, perhaps Weiruo would have been injured by the impact with the swarm of beasts below them. Weiruo had already noticed that something was approaching quickly, but her body was late in responding to it.

“Yes, without me though you can save yourself.”

Weiruo only smiled faintly before returning to observe the swarm of animals. They continued to run in one direction, none of them intending to leave the group, as if they were being controlled by something.

“What happened to them?”

“It looks like there are spiritual animals that are evolving, they will affect weaker animals to be used as their food,” explained the young man.

“Why is it like that?”

“Because they have to gather the energy they have already spent to increase their strength.”

Weiruo only gave a small nod before leaving the place.

“Cute or not?” weiruo asked the young man.

The young man did not say much and immediately followed Weiruo, the two then left the place together.
