Simple Hope

Seeing the little girl blur from Berlin's eyes was warm as she stared at her backward back. He waved his hand and a small closet containing many small clothes appeared on the table in Alicia's room. He then turned around and walked into the kitchen to start cooking food for Alicia and the others.

Alicia walked into her room to see a small flash of light shining on her desk. Alicia walked over to the table where a small cupboard sat on it. Seeing this Alicia smiled brightly. "Frey, open this. Mr. Berlin made you a lot of clothes."

Frey quickly flew to the table and excitedly opened the cabinet. Her eyes became big when she saw the dozens of dresses inside. "Mother! Lookie! Is all this really for Frey!?"

"Un! As my daughter, Mr. Berlin also wants you to get the best. I want you to get the best too. When He is greater and can do these things for you. Mom will then personally make all your clothes for you. For now, Mr. Berlin made it until I was able to perform such magic! Remember to thank Mr. Berlin later." Alicia paused for a moment then a wide grin appeared on her face. "You can call him grandpa!"

"Frey will definitely thank Grandpa! Frey is so happy! Mom, what should I wear first? Frey can't decide!" Frey jumped up and down happily as he clapped.

Both Loeri and Alicia had warm smiles on their faces as they watched Frey hop around happily. "We'll decide what you'll wear after we shower." Alicia patted Frey on the head making Frey giggle. Then the three of them took a shower.

About an hour later the three of them came out of Alicia's room. Frey flew out in a new pink dress that easily accommodated her wings. "Grandpa!!!!!!!!"

The tea-drinking Berlin spouted him everywhere when he heard Frey yelling grandfather. Alicia looked at this scene and laughed out loud until her stomach hurt. Berlin, though initially shocked, did not mind the way Frey called him. This was mainly because he was Frey's grandfather now. So after wiping her face, Berlin smiled happily and said: "Do you like her dress?"

Frey flew over to the side of Berlin's face hugging and kissing her cheek and said: "Frey likes it, thank you, Grandpa!"

"Master Berlin, when should I go to the capital? From what you told me, it took me almost nine months to get there, right?" ask Alicia. He wanted to know how much rest he could get before having to go to the capital to take the bodyguard examination. He was almost nine years old now so he only had a little over a year before he was ten.

"For the time being I'll ask you to work on expanding your Magi Sack over the next few months. You will leave at the beginning of the new year. This will give you about six months to get used to the capital. During those six months, I want you to apply to the Adventurers Guild. This will give you a better idea of how things work within the Adventurers Guild as squires must receive job requests from them at least three times a month. So even though you are a squire you will be working partially for the Adventurers Guild. It gives squires the ability to learn from experience." Berlin explained.

Alicia was shocked to learn that the Adventurers Guild had a very close relationship with the knights. "So all the knights are registered in the Adventurers Guild?"

"Yes, right! This was because the Adventurers Guild had a large network across the country. With the help of civilian adventurers, we were able to gather more information than if we went out and looked for it ourselves. In return for this, Adventurer Guilds could run tax-free. This ended up being a victory for both sides." Berlin had made sure to have a close relationship with the Adventurers Guild. That allowed them to catch some of the most heinous criminals around Alistine.

"King Alistine is a smart man." Alicia had a lot of praise for this king. Using the guild for mutual benefit was not much seen in the manga he read. The kings seemed to always be wary of the Adventurers Guild. But here they work together.

Berlin, hearing Alicia's compliments is so much fun! "Alright, sleep. You've been busy for a few months."

Alicia nodded her head, got up, then hugged Berlin before running into her room. Alicia walked into her room, her little thoughts spinning as she had a simple wish. 'I hope one day I can call my father Berlin. If that day comes, I will be a very happy girl.'

If Berlin knew Alicia's current thoughts, he would be a very happy man. But unfortunately he whistles while washing dishes and plans Alicia's training for the next few months. Even though he wanted her to rest, he still wanted her to get some basic training. "I think I'm going to make him put on a heavier load to help build up his stamina more. This way he could kill a thousand extra people tirelessly. To Frey, he can keep being sweet."
