Chayra hugged her husband's body tightly as soon as Ardian walked into Adzra's treatment room. Suddenly, her tears could not be blocked. He spilled the claustrophobic he had been holding since yesterday. He pretended to be tough in front of his mother and sister because he did not want to look weak.
"Already, Honey. I'm sorry I left you when you needed me." Ardian patted Chayra on the back.
"Mh... Ar, I went straight to the office. Next time I'll come visit here."
"Yes, thank you for bringing me here, Dit."
Dodit nodded as it passed. Not forgetting to say hello before leaving the room. So long working with Ardian made him get used to saying and returning greetings. Whereas if with Mr. Randi the person is flat and not too religious.
Ardian took his wife to sit down after Dodit left. "Where's mom, honey?"
"Back, Mom. There's a meeting on the hiring of new employees. He said he'd open a branch in two places."
"Alhamdulillah, your efforts are getting smoother, dear."
"Our smooth mother's business is also profitable, Mas. Mother said, if Adzra has not drunk ASI anymore, I have to come to the store. I'm overwhelmed by having them all alone."
"Looks like I need a finance manager."
"He said so."
They quietly rested their bodies on the back of the sofa. Their eyes focused on Adzra who was sleeping on the bed. Ardian stroked his wife's head in hijab. Guilt still roared his mind because of what happened last night. Several times I heard a long breath.
"You've got a problem, Mom?" Chayra looked up at her husband.
"Eh, no dear. There's nothing." Ardian dropped his wife's head on his chest.
"Keep why the breath was long. Don't mind your own problems, Mas. The matter was shared with me. Who knows if I can help."
Ardian smiled slightly. I am ashamed to have to tell everything now. "Next time I tell you, baby. I don't have the guts to tell you everything right now."
Chayra looked back at her husband. "That's right, I said what, too. You must have a problem."
Ardian again smiled weakly while patting his wife's head. "Now we focus on Adzra's recovery first, dear. If Adzra has recovered, let me tell you later. It's also about last night when I didn't pick up your phone. Sorry, next time I tell you."
Chayra nodded as she got up to see the movement of her son. Ardian got up close to his son. A few days away from his wife and son made him really long. Shortly after, a nurse came in to check on Adzra's infusion.
"Good afternoon, sir, Mom. Sorry to interrupt, I'd like to change the infusion first.."
Ardian and Chayra nodded in unison. "Actually what's my son sick, Sus?" Ardian who stood opposite the Nurse asked while watching the Nurse's hand that was changing the infusion deftly.
"Later the Doctor explained, sir. We're still waiting on the lab results."
"My son was brought in last night, Sus. Why haven't the lab results come out yet?" Ardian frowned his brows staring intently at the nurse who was still repairing Adzra's infusion that was still stuck.
"Mas," Chayra shook her head softly as she saw the discomfort on the face of the nurse who was taking care of her son.
The nurse smiled kindly towards Ardian. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, sir. The lab results were out, but because the doctor rushed home this morning, he immediately brought the laboratory results. The doctor will be visiting soon. You can ask him that."
"Thank you, Sus." Ardian passed by and sat down on the sofa while opening his phone as there was an incoming call.
"Assalamualaikum, Dit, what's wrong?"
"..........."
"I can't go to the office right now. You know my son is sick. Why not just Randi. I know he's sick. But, if it's just such a matter you just call him."
"..........."
"I'm not the Director, Dit. Replacing Mr. Randi for a few days my head was dizzy. I never dreamed of getting that job. Draining time, energy and thought until there's no time for family." Ardian grumbled. "Already ah, don't bother me. I want to let go of my wife's son."
"........."
"Yes, so don't bother. May I ask for help tonight and come by here."
"........"
"............"
"How does blood sugar go up. I'm short of sugar from yesterday. In A city I can't eat well because of yesterday's busy schedule."
"........."
"Yes, thanks in advance. Assalamualaikum..."
Chayra walked over after her husband finished talking to Dodit. "Why not say from earlier if you want to eat martabak, Mas. I can have Bian bring it over right now by the way."
"Did he come?" Ardian asked without taking his eyes off the phone.
"Yes.. He's still on private tutoring. So now he's going to be here to finish the Ashar prayer."
"May ask him then."
Chayra nodded while contacting her sister. "You pray first Mas while Bian comes."
Ardian put the phone down. Leaning his head on the back of the sofa while rubbing his face violently. "Have you prayed, honey?"
"I'm menstruating, Mom."
"What..?!" Ardian immediately raised his head. His eyes were round looking at his wife with a sad look.
"Why surprised, Mom? Your mind is not far from that. Fast for the next three or four days. Keep up the fast yesterday." Chayra said as she picked up her change of clothes inside the bag. "I'm gonna take a shower for a second. Please notice later that Adzra wakes up."
Ardian just gawked at the sight of his wife who passed into the bathroom.
*********
"I just found out that you like martabak." Bian was still astonished to see his brother-in-law eating the sweet martabak he brought with him greedily.
"I'm short of sugar, Bi. For the past few days, I have not eaten well. Jobs in city A are too crowded so eating time is often accelerated. Uh, by the way called Brother same you feel different huh.. Who taught you to suddenly call me Brother?"
"I'm like a twinkle. My schoolmates call a lot of their older brothers so. I don't have a brother. There is only brother-in-law. That's why I applied in Brother. It sounds good too."
"I'm also happy at Abang's waist. Sounds like it.."
"Woaahhh, then, tomorrow Brother I give you the honor to take me to school."
"Huh..?! Frog I don't have a job with a rancid kid like you at school?"
"Introducing Bian to the School was an honor, Bang. Not everyone gets permission to take me to school. There has to be an official certificate from Grandpa if you want to take me."
Ardian. "I think someone's arrogant nature has been passed down to you now."
"Don't fuck around, Bang. I'll report it to my grandfather, you know how you feel."
"Report it, Bi. You taught me how to fight Grandpa."
Their conversation halted when Chayra came along. "Why stop talking when I come?"
No one answered. Bian and Ardian just smiled at each other. "You two are like the wrong people." Chayra plucked the last piece of martabak in the container in front of her husband.
"Bi, leave your niece for a while, Brother wants to go out with your brother. He needs refreshing he said from yesterday."
Chayra looked at her husband. "Don't be crazy, Mom. Our son is sick, time wants to be left out. I do need refreshing, but not right now, Mas. Find the right time first so that Adzra can also come. You are also tired. Should have come home from out of town you had a complete break. But because things are like this."
"Sister Ayra is right. This brother's how he thinks how the hell? Yes, I want to leave the child when the child is sick. What if Adzra wants to mimic later. I don't have a PD with milk like Ayra's."
"Dec, what the hell is that talking?" Chayra throws Bian with a tissue in her hand.
"Hehehe. Don't be mad ah..." Bian grinned while scratching his nape. "Abang, if you want to invite the wife refreshing, find the right time.. Don't let you guys be happy and then I get the harm."
Ardian only smiled slightly as he glanced at his wife. Chayra looks tired. The apparent dark circles under her eyes signaled her lack of rest.
