"What love do you love your wife to the point that you sacrifice your job?!" The question came out of Sucipto's mouth.
Ardian looked at his Papi in annoyance. The former slap of her Papa was flushed on her left cheek. Can only feel his cheeks that feel heated.
"What does Papi mean to ask like that?!" Asked with an annoyed expression.
"You have absolutely no respect for the work that Papi has entrusted you with. You're undisciplined, Ardian. Should've preferred your job over anything."
Ardian smiled cynically. "I never asked Papi to give me this trust. If Papi tells me to put my job first of anything. Moreover, it concerns the wife, which is even worse, if it concerns my religious matters. Sorry, we're not in line." Ardian put all the files he carried in front of Sucipto.
"I don't want to mortgage my family's religion and harmony just for money. If Papi is angry with me because of the delay I came today and the days before. I can't say anything but sorry. I can't repeat that day to account for my mistake. I think I'm the one who's not right to be the next generation of this company. I'm too young and just learning to be a responsible human being."
Ardian raised his head to look at his Papi who just silently heard all his words. "I know I have to take responsibility in this company. But my responsibility to my wife is bigger, Papi. I can't ignore him when he really needs my attention. He is my responsibility to the world and the hereafter. If Papi objected to my words. I'm sorry, Pi. I cannot continue this responsibility. Please Papi find someone else who can discipline time and can make work a top priority."
Sucipto took a deep breath. "We talk inside. Too many pairs of eyes are watching us here." Forcibly pulled his son's hand into the room.
"But not so...."
"What...?!" Sucipto turned around, glaring at Ardian.
"Newly healed cows. Keep Papi's emotions at bay."
"You made Papi always want emotion, Ardian. Try to recite, don't argue just once."
"But..."
"What...?! You want to argue again? What is it that your wife is sick, so you have to be late to the Office every morning? What disease will make him die if you leave him in the office."
"He won't die. But I just want to prove that I'm always there for him. Especially in his current condition that was containing my own flesh blood."
Sucipto jerks. Staring at Ardian with a hard-to-understand look. "M. You mean your wife is pregnant."
Ardian smiled bitterly as he let out a rough breath. "Do I have to lie for news of this magnitude? Ardian who now is not Ardian who likes to lie like Ardian who used to be, Papi."
Sucipto breathed deeply repeatedly. Holding his chest that felt pained hearing the news. "Why didn't your mom ever tell Papi that?"
"I don't know that. I just want Papi to tell me about my delays coming up lately. If Chay is okay. God willing, I will try to work to the maximum."
"Why don't you take your wife home?"
"No. I'm not comfortable if I have to go back to Papi's house. I'm more comfortable living in my in-laws' house even if I'm hitchhiking there."
Sucipto. I don't know what else to say to his son. There was a sense of guilt that infiltrated his heart after knowing the truth. However, he is also upset that Ardian is stubborn and unwilling to be regulated by the rules.
"The choice is in Papi's hands. If Papi is not satisfied with my performance, I am ready to resign. But, if Papi understands and wants to give me a chance to improve. God willing, I will try to be more disciplined in the future."
Sucipto glanced at his son. "But give you another chance. If you have not appreciated the office that Papi has entrusted to you. Forced Papi must entrust others to take your place."
Ardian nodded. "Thank you, Pi. Ardian pamit then." Ardian rushed out. His mind was filled with the file he had thrown origin on the sofa in front of his room. Given how much time it took to compile and study the file.
"Is everything okay, sir?" A young man named Dodit whom Sucipto had sent to be Ardian's secretary asked politely. Dodit has also been a Sucipto confidant in recent years.
"If Mr. Ardian doesn't mind, I can help Mr. Ardian to save time."
"Don't call me Ah sir. I'm not comfortable. Call Ardian just to impress more relaxed. You're talking too formal." Ardian glanced at Dodit.
"I'm not good, sir. Maybe outside, I can. But, if it's still in the office environment, I have to respect you as my boss."
"Oh my God, you are, Dit. I can, when you don't want to study like that. Learn little by little, long must be accustomed."
Dodit nodded while smiling knot. "I'll try, sir."
"It's delayed, right?"
"Yes, Sir. The meeting is postponed and will be held at ten. There's still twenty-five minutes. Mr. Ardian can prepare himself."
"Thank you, Dit." Ardian passed by and went back into his room. The tail of his eyes glanced towards Sucipto who was standing by the window facing outside.
Ardian opened the box. He didn't have time for breakfast because his mind was too full this morning. "Mh.. Pi, Ardian wants breakfast. Has Papi had breakfast? If not, we can have breakfast together."
There was no response from Sucipto, making Ardian finally start to feed the rice into his mouth.
Sucipto. Looking at his son who was enjoying his food voraciously, he walked over. "Is the food really good or are the people starving?"
The question made Ardian stop chewing his food. "I'm not starving, Pi. But the food is really good. I've never enjoyed a meal like this at home."
Sucipto blinks his lips. Getting closer while paying attention to the contents of his son's lunch box. "It's just a kale vegetable, so what else is it. Mm. fried tempeh is either a little minced meat plus tomato chili. It's a huge camp. There's no speciality either."
Ardian smiled. "The menu is indeed a village according to Papi. But, if I think, it's like a favorite menu." Returned to feed a large spoon into his mouth.
Sucipto swallowed his saliva. The food does look very appetizing. Unlike the menu every day that always uses a westernized style menu.
"Foods like this also always managed to make me eat large portions. Papi can see the results of the changes in my body shape. My cheeks are no longer thin, my body is also filled. I no longer weigh fifty kilograms, but now sixty-five kilograms. My wife is great, Pi. Always prioritizing nutrition over prestige."
Sucipto only smiled faintly in response to his son's babble.
Ardian got up after finishing his breakfast. "Oh, yes, Pi. There's still one more serving in this box. That's for my lunch later. But if Papi is curious and wants to try it, Papi can try it. I'll find some food outside later." Ardian sat down again after finishing his sentence. Take a bottle of mineral water and gulp it down the toilet. His eyes glanced at the clock that already showed nine four five o'clock. There are still fifteen minutes left before the meeting starts. Ardian grabbed his phone. Trying to call the house number to make sure his wife's condition is fine.
"Assalamualaikum, Brother Zidane. How's Chay doing now?"
"Wa'alaikumsalam, do not ask the situation because your wife has slid to Campus. You just work the shit."
Ardian could only open his lips. "Is he not vomiting anymore?"
"No. He seems to eat mostly satay, so he vomits constantly. It is possible that satay does not fit if it has to be produced in the intestine. That's why the satellite asked to come out over the top."
"Hmmm. Where there is such, Brother. If that's the case, why doesn't he throw up from the night he ate. Never mind, if he's okay. I have a meeting for a moment. Assalamualaikum.."
Zidane giggled over there. "Wa'alaikumsalam. warahmatullahi.."
